This is the Coffee House Wall for this week. I won’t say that it is your chance to communicate with us, as we are all in this together. It is, nevertheless, the Conservative Blog post that has no particular theme, and where everything is on topic. Let’s just remember that we want to avoid ad hominem attacks on others. We don’t want to engage with trolls. We want to moderate our language ourselves as responsible and mature adults, choosing to use fruity language only where it is necessary. This is our opportunity to show what the Spectator Coffee House Wall could have been like.

Malfleur – 09:21 ‘an open mind’
It’s only a post, but there is an interesting post by ETHAN233 underneath this article:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/multivitamin-researchers-say-case-is-closed-supplements-dont-boost-health/
“I bet almost every multivitamin used in the aforementioned studies are pure synthetic vitamins. NOT whole food organic vitamins, or the same thing you get from actual food.”
The post is a lot longer and goes into more detail.
Added: there is a lot of information (that should be followed up as it only a post), but here is some of it:
“The minerals that they used are all probably in the non absorbable “metallic” form, which is only around 10% or so absorbable by the body, also known as bio-availability, whereas the colloidal plant derived forms of the minerals are upwards of 90-98% absorbable and usable by the body. Minerals that are chelated typically improve absorption rates up to 45% of the mineral. The other 90% of the cheap, metallic forms of minerals can build up in the body and cause all kinds of health problems. Even with chelated minerals that which is not used can build up in the body and cause problems.”
Physics is so much easier! Well, it may be harder, but it isn’t so complicated.

I will wrestle with it!
Why must we keep being forced to hear and read the opinions of the failed politician, John Major? Why is he being given so much air time? Now he is addressing a committee and telling them how valuable One Direction are as ambassadors and how we must never leave the EU because it would mean economic disaster? Who is behind him?
PfM
Your post is a cue for a Hitchens lambasting of the political class, the media’s failure to hold them to account, New Labours thought control….
Major is the father of the intellectual vacuuity in modern Conservatism.

The great biofuels scandal
Biofuels are inefficient, cause hunger and air pollution, and cost taxpayers billions
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/biofuels/10520736/The-great-biofuels-scandal.html
In fact: Even Al Gore claims biofuels are a “mistake”.
So it must be true! 🙂
And even funnier:
“In the EU, crop-based biofuels have replaced 5 per cent of fuel used in transport. If the biofuels were emission-free, that would reduce emissions by 5 per cent – totalling about 59 million tons (Mt) of CO2 each year by 2020.
But a 2013 study by the International Institute for Sustainable Development shows that deforestation, fertilisers and fossil fuels used in the production of biofuels would emit about 54Mt of CO2. A full 92 per cent of the carbon dioxide “saved” is just emitted elsewhere. For biodiesel alone, the net effect would likely be an increase in emissions.
Thus the total EU savings would be a minuscule 5Mt, or about one-tenth of one per cent of total European emissions. …”
Hardly enough to keep the bureaucrats managing this in expenses, no doubt!
The prosecutor in the Lee Rigby trial said in his closing statement the following, “Islam, one of the world’s great religions, is not on trial and nor could it be.”
Does he actually believe this? Or does he say it as a cloak with which to protect himself personally and professionally from the possible bad opinion of the bien pissants who might construe his presentation of the evident barbarity of the RoP as something close to racism, and the accompanying risk of being ostracised from the Lefty Club?
I find it pitiful and disgraceful that a QC whose job it is to evaluate evidence should find himself uttering a false platitude for which no evidence exists.
Dear oh dear oh dear.
And a propos of the above, at least someone at the DT sees exactly how equality and fairness is viewed in the criminal justice system.

Peter,
You may delete this if you disapprove but it is authentic and indeed topical:
Lord Colin Cowdrey: “A cricketing gentleman”
By Sir John Major
The mellow sound of bat on ball
The wherewithal to enthral
On feather bed or fiery track
Talent far above the pack
All on display at a glance
As Colin Cowdrey took his stance.
His style was gentle, full of grace
Delicate as Flemish lace
When a troubling ball came down
Fair caressed it all around
Some were hit, a few let pass
In Cowdrey’s cricketing master-class.
With speed or spin, sharp eyes could see
The blade of grass where the ball would be
And to follow – swift and sure
A stroke to excite the connoisseur
Such memories still linger on
So long after the day has gone.
Firm wrists to coax the ball away
To all parts of close of play
A push for one, sometimes a pair
Three for a cut to backward of square
And – hear the full-throated roar –
A dazzling cover drive for four.
Now, he out; no more shall we see
That brand of Cowdrey Mastery
A style so easy, so unhurried
So very English, so unflurried
The master with a Corinthian touch
To Whom victory matter – but not that much.
Such a pity he is not with them in Australia now.
Last night the BBC showed a documentary called “The Romanians are Coming?” It was written with a soft and reassuring touch, just what many of us would expect from the Bolshie Bugger’s Club! It got me thinking today when I went to Boots to collect some medicine. None of the pharmacists were English, and most had a very poor understanding of the spoken language. Most of the females wore head coverings, and all were from Pakistan or Asia. What got me thinking was that after next month, the pharamcists will probably be from Romania, cheaper, and well suited for the ethics of modern-day Boots. Bet the old boy from Nottingham is turning in his grave!

Intriguing story, and you should be applauded for finding it.

Something tells Baron the authorities both here and the Brussels Politburo will do everything to stop the immigrants coming in the first few months of next year. That’s all they have to do to calm things down, they think, what happens after the watchful eye of the public interest diverts to something else. And the MSM will do the same, plenty of scribblers will focus on it for a couple of months, then they’ll too shift to something else.
Fergus Pickering @ 16:31

On the subject of Yalta: Roosevelt was very ill, took little interest in proceedings, the decisions of what position the Americans took was left to Edward Stettinius, the Secretary of State, or so Baron believes.
At dinner one evening, Winston jolted something on a piece of paper, had it passed to Stalin, he looked at it, and nodded. Apparently, the piece of paper outlined the division of spheres of influence in Europe after the war. The Americans had no say in it. Baron only knows it had Czechoslovakia at 50-50. But, of course, Stalin would have nodded to getting only 10, even this would have been sufficient for the communists thugs to gain total control eventually.

Mr Gottlieb said Mr Adebolajo’s family were “victims” in the case as much as the family of Fusilier Rigby and told the jury that his client had been “demonised and painted as a monster”.
The defending barrister also suggested that Mr Adebolajo was “the most law-abiding terrorist in the history of this country” as his client paid for a parking ticket moments before the alleged murder took place.

Has Farage got his eye on the Saxon Shore for 2015? A party member has commissioned poles in various marginals;which leads UKIP to claim Cameron is splitting the non-Labour vote.
At Folkstone and Hythe (near Dover) the voting intention figures are:
Con.35%
UKIP28%
Lab.28%
Lib.D.10%
(The current Conservative MP,Damian Collins, had a previous career in the Cons.Research Dept. and Saatchi’s before being put on Cameron’s A list.)
UKIP claims it is getting much support from other then Conservatives. Those who profess support voted thus in 2010:
Con.31%
UKIP29%
Lab.13%
Other 9%
Not vote19%
So,31% is coming from the Conservatives. This is disingenuous as UKIP’s core vote since 1997 has come from the Conservatives;and most of those who have deliberately abstained since then have been natural conservatives:so maybe 75% to 80% support comes from conservative voters.
The pole also finds 39% of supporters would not vote at all if there was no UKIP candidate. This undermines the claim that has long been made that UKIP is letting in Labour in marginals;this being based on the idea their votes would have gone to the Conservatives (and Cameron would have been only two seats short of a majority but for UKIP).
Correction;the figures for voting intentions should be:
Con35%
UKIP28%
Lab.21%
Lib.D10%

Read the book: the evidence against Roosevelt stacks up in spades. He was a cunning old Quisling and a ‘progressive’. Ill – yes! Ill-intended, too, imnsho. New Deal my arse!
It was the age-old deal of duplicity if not triplicity and in he long run The West has paid. Churchill was no angel, replete with idiosyncrasy, but balls like cantaloupes. But I still think he was outfoxed by FDR and Uncle Joe in the long run. Harry Hopkins is a key. His counterparts over here were just as insidious. Ms West explains why. And today’s equivalents are equally dangerous. The knockers can scoff at DW’s book. I concur with many of her conclusions and if I had completed that research I would have been more strident than she. What I saw in the Sixties and Seventies on the inside of the loop and what I had to put up with personally from Leftist Cabal that successfully targeted the Police makes me extremely sympathetic to Miss West’s assertions, making allowances for when she was born. More than that, I empathise with her current predicament.
Another thing; I was less than impressed with GHB (41) at the time of the Malta cosy-up on SS Maxim Gorky and this is not hindsight: I wrote this after the Malta meeting when they were trapped in the storm in the Med:
From Yalta to Malta – Gorbachev and Bush all at sea
by Frank P
Now as we enter the last decade of he second millennium
Momentous events around the globe are changing the status quo.
Two men in a boat, in a raging storm, on the Mediterranean …
Anxious to please, they nervously tease, wondering which way to go.
The East has recanted; The West is bemused.
The people are joyous, but somewhat confused.
What, they may ask, has it all been about …
As they were kept in and we were kept out?
The curtain of Iron has been drawn back at last;
The high concrete wall has been breached and ignored.
The People, whose faith has been strong and steadfast,
Have won with a patience that we all applaud.
But there in the Mediterranean Sea,
With their bristling fleets, World Press in attendance,
The foremost two leaders unable to flee
Are huddled together in interdependence.
Tossed and afraid on the turbulent sea
Confounded, frustrated and powerless to choose,
In spite of their hardware and technology
It’s the fury of Nature that’s making the news.
As though God in his heaven is trying to tell
Those two old usurpers with grandiose claims
That their journeys are destined to finish in Hell,
If they fail to refrain from their dangerous games.
Wasn’t far wrong, was I? (Even had a few shreds of religion in me then too). 🙂

It’s a show trial folks. The best opportunity, as I say, was missed on the day when ‘ours’ had the upper hand and the means to end that battle in the “war” neatly and tidily. But then you look at what happened to the Marine Sergeant and you can’t blame the ARU for baulking at it, given the current Zeitgeist.
Wait until we can comment freely. It’s almost over. And there’s only one possible result.

I’m of the school of thought that the trial and conviction of Sergeant Alexander was deliberately timed by the authorities to deliver the required verdict before the forgone verdict of the Drummer Rigby trial, in order to demonstrate ‘equivlence.’
Of course it shows nothing of the sort. Rather we are witnessing a cowardly and appeasing political system, fearful both of the just wrath of the indigenous population and further atrocities from the followers of RoP, seek to appease all sides whilst satisfying none.

It has been ordered already, Frank, and the bit about Winston wasn’t meant to be a criticism of the great man, it merely recounted the story Baron came across before arriving in Britain, whether it’s true or not the barbarian has no idea, the West’s book may help.
And you are right, your foresight was more accurate that that of the many officially endorsed pundits. The crafting itself is excellent, too. Why should the Government have helped him? what was he doing there in the first place? strange is it not how these people suddenly become British when they want to be rescued from a mess of their own making. You’re right of course. As a consequence of your post I’ve penned and sent the following email to my MP:
“Dear Mr Wallace,
I am writing to you, both as my Member of Parliament and as a former serving soldier in the armed forces, to seek your support in on obtaining the early release of Royal Marine Sgt Alexander Blackman (Marine Soldier A), following his recent conviction for murder whilst on active service in Afghanistan.
Whilst the conviction is supported by the bare facts contained in the Prosecution’s case there are several disturbing aspects concerning the trial. Indeed in some ways it parallels the Dreyfuss case, which raised significant political and moral issues in 19th century France.
That a case was ever brought at all is a matter for concern, given that the act resulting in conviction occurred on active service during a prolonged campaign. Whether the application of the criminal law is appropriate in such circumstances is a matter for further, deeper deliberation elsewhere .
However It is difficult to escape the impression, given that the incident in question occurred over two years ago, that the timing of the trial and conviction of Sergeant Blackman was more than mere happenstance, that it was indeed deliberate chosen.
It has conveniently enabled the authorities to deliver a ‘guilty’ verdict on a British soldier, shortly before the major trial of the two defendants for the religiously motivated hate murder of Drummer Rigby in Woolwich. In doing so this conviction materially supports the standard response always provided to the general public, (in this case first by Mr Cameron himself, followed by Mr Johnson, the Mayor of London), in all cases of terrorist acts.
To be clear, the narrative presented to the public in this case and in all such incidents, is as follows: in the first instance there is a radical dis-association of ‘real’ Islam and its followers from their co-religionist killers by politicians, the authorities and various muslim organisations. This articulates a defence against an ‘unjust’ response of the non-muslim majority society to the act or acts of ‘untypical’ muslim extremists and killers. In doing so this mis-representation seeks to deny the majority, non-muslim society of seeing itself as the true victim of terrorism. It does so by enabling muslim organisations and the irrefutably ‘non-violent ‘moderate muslim’ community to portray themselves as the ‘real’ victims; not of the violence from which they have distanced themselves, but from the subsequent anger and concern of the general public, whose reactions have already been pre-emptively categorised as ‘islamophobic’ and so can be summarily dismissed as ‘racist hate crimes’.
In short, this conviction enables the government to maintain the narrative that all acts demonstrate an even handed ‘equivalence’ in its treatment of its subjects, muslims and non-muslims alike.
It is of course nothing of the sort.
There is and can never be any equivalence between the actions of a soldier on active service and the deliberate, brutal murder of an innocent man on the streets of London.
Rather we appear spectators at a continuing drama as we witness remote politicians and a political system which is rightly fearful of the consequences of its own weakness. Caught between the justifiable anger and concerns of the majority of the population and the possibilities further atrocities from the militant followers of Islam, it seeks to both cajole and deceive the public whilst abject appeasing the terrorists themselves and the culture and ethos from which they come, whilst failing to take effective measures to prevent further similar occurrences.
I was particularly moved by the following view of one serving soldier, an infuriated Tommy Atkins, writing from Afghanistan, who expressed his feelings so cogently, as well no doubt, as those of many of his comrades in the field and all right thinking members on the public.
http://www.damndunk.com/
It is a furious, justified and eviscerating condemnation of the mediocrity of the nomenklatura in our political system and administration and within the most senior levels of the Armed Forces which will resonate both within the forces and with the public.
I trust you will agree and support the release of Sergeant Blackman from prison and the associated dangers now he faces in consequence, as a result of the egregious decision of the Criminal Justice’ system to bring and try this case.
Your sincerely,
Noa”
Of course Wallsters may feel free to use and cannibalise it as they consider best in their own correspondence and campaigns, forwarding it to their own MPs and journalists of choice.

Well another blast today of fabulous economic news! Never have so many been in employment in our entire history! Whoopee!
Now for the bleedin’ obvious.
We’re in the middle of a population explosion. The Government likes to tell us that we’re a mere 63 million souls. Tesco reckon it’s more like 80 million, so let’s split the difference and call ourselves 70 million. And how many are employed? 30 million.
So, subtract those in the public sector who are a net loss to our economy and all those who earn so little as to be subsidised by the state, and that leaves us, on the the back of my envelope, with no more than 20 million actual wealth-producing workers. As the Americans describe it, that’s 20 million people pulling a wagon with more than 50 million in it.
That’s hard-core socialism. Never mind mass immigration, this is mass gerrymandering. It is immoral. It looks like slavery. And, to use one the Left’s favourite words, it’s unsustainable.
For those who, some months ago, were asking the leading question whether Edward Snowden was a patriot, this from the Washington Times:
“Obama’s NSA review panel calls phone-snooping an abuse of Patriot Act President… Obama’s own internal review panel has accused the government of abusing the Patriot Act”
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/dec/18/obama-panel-recommends-banning-nsa-phone-snooping/
Note how in the wonderful world of politics a comprehensive institutional web of criminal acts, often called a conspiracy in criminal law, breaching at least one express, embedded right in the Constitution and implicating the senior magistrate and his close advisers, is called “abusing the Patriot Act”.

Are there any small, bland rentals in friendly areas any more? The thought of wading through swamps of real-estatese is doleful.

We don’t have any low cost housing locally, but have you tried RightMove?
Here is a search for some rented accommodation in Norfolk:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/Norfolk.html?maxPrice=300&displayPropertyType=flats&oldDisplayPropertyType=flats&numberOfPropertiesPerPage=50
You can amend all the fields, including the Location field which accepts the names of towns as well as counties. I picked Norfolk as it is away from the bustle of London, not too cold, and has some delightful small towns, some even with a railway station.
Thanks, Robert C! I will check this out tomorrow. I have this pressing desire to get home and settled after a lifetime as a nomad.

Is there any limit to the stupidity of the English and their courts today?
A chef discussing the gollywog on the old Robinson jam jars has been convicted of racism, he was overheard by a black employee. Naturally the woman concerned screamed blue murder and the whole shebang ended up in court. Why are these self important prat so indulged? A similar thing happened to me, a woman from one of the local collages contacted me with a view to my admitting one of her protégés, who did not speak English. I told her that I did not admit any who did not speak the language, the silly cow then got on her high horse and threatened to write to the mayor, at this point I’d had a belly full, I told her to piss off and put the phone down. Only one way to treat these clowns, and that is not by indulging them.
“Conservatives” on the Wall will be happy to learn that their old friend Vladimir Putin ( a conservative, Russian,KGB, patriot) agrees with them:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/dec/19/putin-nsa-surveillance-needed-fight-terrorism/#ixzz2nv57TKTi
Of course, as our “conservatives” here would assert – spying on every single subject in the country “must be regulated by strict rules and norms” – oh, how wise, oh how statesmanlike, oh how coffee house wall conservative!

We have just returned home from what we hope will be the very last food shopping until after New Year.
I write hope; because in many previous years despite our very best endeavours we have found at the very last minute that we are short of some essential item, or rather some item that my beloved thinks will be essential.
The only thing still to get, will be for me to collect the pre-paid for Stand-Pie from the farm butcher on Christmas Eve morning.
So we can now look forward to a hassle free run up to Christmas.
Verity.
A daughter of mine who has a very small limited income, round about twenty years ago was being harassed by the landlord of a bed-sit that she rented, when she appealed to the Citizens Advice Bureau they put her in touch with a local housing association.
This resulted in her being offered a brand new four room ground-floor flat(one of four two up two down) in a very nice area, at what amounts to an easily affordable rent.
With this in mind I have found you two contact details, the first is to the National Housing Federation and the second link has the directory of all the Housing Associations in the UK.
I am convinced that if you were to contact either or both of these you will find the answer to your problem.
These associations usually build in very small numbers of units that are far too small for the major builders to bother with.
I do hope this is of some assistance.

Good on Charles, even though Baron has never been impressed much by him, it’s a courageous stance, more than pity the political class seem to be silent about it.
stephen maybery @ 11:02
The doctor was presumably naturalised, hence he is British, not dissimilar to Boris Johnson’s grandparents few decades ago.
You may argue against the naturalisation laws (other countries have similar statutes), but not against the outcome. By granting the man his citizenship, the State took on certain responsibilities, it (the State) should have lived up to it.
Anne Wotana Kaye 1 @ 12:08
Are you certain, Anne, that amongst those the doctor helped were no Christians?
If he did help those of the Book would he be OK?
Noa @ 12:11
More than courageous, my friend, useful, too. Baron is going to draft something similar, send it to his MP. Again, well done, you should be proud of yourself.
Ostrich (occasionally) 13:33
Baron reckons, Ostrich, it’s more likely pigs will not only fly but shite gold than the film ever being even considered by anyone in the current circumstances.
Anne Wotana Kaye 1 16:25
Baron found the behaviour of the defence counsel as sickening as you did, but it’s the time honoured tradition of the English legal system that defence counsels do everything in their power to get their client off the hook (and may that long remain so). It’s up to the jury to see through it, and it took only an hour for them to do just that.
IRISHBOY @ 20:57
Excellent points, IRISHBOY, except that it hasn’t yet reached the ‘hard socialism’ stage, it’s still to come unless the unwashed put a stop to it
Malfleur @ 23:21

Baron cannot help, he lives in a small village, nothing to rent here, but the barbarian can send you few estate agents’ addresses if you don’t mind living in the deep wilderness of this country, some 3 hours by train from the exciting place called London. You don’t have to take up what they offer. Interested?
Malfleur @ 11:11
Will it help if Baron tells you that in one of the villages he lives next to there’s a shop that sells a range of golliwogs, well, three sizes only. If you ever come you can purchase one, or all three.
Baron
December 19th, 2013 – 17:16
Dear Baron, because something is a “time honoured tradition” doesn’t make it right. Being hung, drawn and quartered was once traditional, but is not now considered legitimate. Earlier, you asked “are you certain, Anne, that amongst those the doctor helped were no Christians?
If he did help those of the Book would he be OK?” Far better to help unfortunate Christians caught up in the slaughter, than moslem fanatics, but as a British subject, he went to Syria without official British sanction. Despite his British passport, he obviously felt more Syrian than British. Sad, but you cannot have your cake and eat it,
Anne Wotana Kaye 1 17:28
If you were here you would have heard Baron muttering ‘I dunno, perhaps quartering… shouldn’t have been dropped from the old traditions, the barbarian could think of few people who would qualify for it’ Only joking.
Still, one cannot argue for freedoms then object to someone enjoying one of them. The man went there because he was free to do so as were those who went to fight in Spain in the 30s last century. If he went to take up arms, took them against us or our interest it would have been a different matter.

WHAT A LOT OF BLA BLA BLA! All those passers by, and all those witnesses, and not one man enough to go to the poor soldier’s aid. The average citizen has been brain washed “to behave” and is probably afraid his benefits would be affected if he became a “Vigilante”. Yes, vigilante is what anyone going to the aid of the soldier would have been labelled.

I have to make this comment through gritted teeth, because Margaret Hodge is a person for whom I have no personal regard whatsoever, a millionaire expenses trougher, and currently Tax Prat of the year.
Having said that, in her self publicising role as Chairman of the Oublic Accounts Committee she is relentlessly exposing the instiutional incompetence and financial incontinence of former labour governments as much as the Coalition.
As Douglas Murray points out in his article at Gatestone on charities which fund terrorist, the Charities Commission, formed under Labour and chaired by Suzi Leather to execute its will, has proved in th words regularly used about almost anything New Labour devised, as ‘not fit for purpose’.

I could go on but what’s the point? The steam pressure valve fitted to the top of my head in 1997 jammed in the open position long ago.
I just cannot get over the chef and the employment tribunal!

“I too can think of a few candidates for quartering, and I’m not joking”
Anne please do not forget the emasculation and drawing whilst still conscious, as you can see below it was only abolished in 1870, then the rot set in.
From Wikipedia:-
Although the Act of Parliament defining high treason remains on the United Kingdom’s statute books, during a long period of 19th-century legal reform the sentence of hanging, drawing and quartering was changed to drawing, hanging until dead, and posthumous beheading and quartering, before being abolished in England in 1870.

“..On a different level: Does anyone have any doubts at all these two thugs of the religion of peace murdered the man? Quite. No possibility of a miscarriage of justice. Why cannot we do what natural justice requires. Hang them.”

The conviction exposes the pitiful level to which the Criminal justice system has now sunk. They cannot even be sentanced until January, as the trial judge awaits the deliberations of five other judges on the effect of the European Court of Human Rights ruling concerning the legitimacy of imposing a ‘whole life’ sentance.
The murdering swine will no doubt be released in ten years, amongst us once more, repentant.

John this is the usual load of bollocks, even the prosecuting council in his summing up felt it was necessary to say the ‘Islam one of the world’s great religions is not on trial here’.
Well he is wrong it was and it with these two cretins has been found guilty.
The claim that it has brought the country together is in a way very true, more and more are together in their loathing of the wellspring (you do know what I mean) that formed these killers.

Quite, the wholesale debasement of the English criminal justice system, once the envy of the world, has been one of Baron’s ‘hobby horses’ for years. No punishment can be effective without the miscreant feeling pain, any pain, physical, emotional, financial….. Our current criminal justice is totally vacuous of any real punishment, sentencing has no longer any deterrent component, the switch from retributive to restorative justice fits in that the system restores the culprits to what they like doing best, crime. The abrogation of the system to a alien set-up follows the same pattern.
And you right, given time, a bunch of uman rites shysters will get them free, they’ll become the heroes of those who want to do us harm.
The commanding officer of the murdered boy was commenting this afternoon on his death by saying ‘…it was a great tragedy’. Tragic it has been, no doubt about it, but it was first and foremost a despicable crime.
David Ossitt @ 19:02
David, unless you know something the barbarian doesn’t, all the news about the man said he was a doctor, went there to mend people, presumably everyone who has suffered in the conflict.
Or were you more Machiavellian, your question hiding something Baron’s feeble brain cannot decipher?
Baron 1942 – Excellent. And chillingly true. Ran through the veins like iced water.
Baron 17:23 – Thanks, but no thanks. I’m looking for a small, settled more or less homogenous community. If anyone can suggest an MP who represents one such, perhaps they could post a line here and I will write to him/her asking if their constituent has anything for let. Thanks for the idea!
Whenever there is a high profile court case involving Islamic terrorists, the courts – the most politicised of institutions that pretend to be impartial – always go out of their way to absolve Islam.
Those working in law who ‘do the decent PR thing’ know they will climb higher if they toe the PC line.
Prosecutor Richard Whittam knew exactly what he was doing when he said: “Islam, one of the world’s great religions, is not on trial and nor could it be.”
That really need not have troubled the jury, but it was not meant for them.
He knew full well that the PC media had its ear cocked and wanted an absolving comment.
And so he delivered.
Thus did it duly appear all over the media that two Muslims had followed Koranic instruction to ‘smite’ the infidel’s neck, one of them even quoting The Koran at the scene with blood all over his hands.
Some of you silly members of the public reading newspapers and TV may have drawn one or two inferences about Islam, having watched a pair of Muslims kill in cold blood and read out Koranic instruction.
Well, fear not.
Richard Whittam QC can put all that right for you dim people.
“Islam, one of the world’s great religions, is not on trial and nor could it be.”
There’s simply no question of drawing any inferences about Islam.
And if you do.
You’ll end up on a hate crime charge.
Islam can say what the hell it likes about you.
But don’t you say a thing about it.
What sick, crawling, spiteful Establishment creep Richard Whittam is.
Elevation to the bench as a High Court Judge beckons.
Just waiting for some journalist worthy of that job title to ask one of the dozens of bien-pissants, presently doing the rounds of all the news studios telling me that the butchery displayed by Muslims on a street in Woolwich won’t in any way affect my unity with this murderous evil cult, how is it that someone using the word golliwog is criminally racist, whereas the racist word has not been used once that I’ve seen against those who butchered alive a man on our streets?
Can you imagine if some “far-right” (to be merely decent these days is to be far-right) native English group had butchered a black man on our streets what the response would have been? Had this imaginary group had hundreds of meeting-places in every town in the country, do we think those places would have remained open? Would their Government funding have continued? Etc. Etc.
There are absolutes in this world. Islam is evil. Socialism is evil. Mary Beard (well-named) was on LBC tonight saying that unless you had studied the Koran you weren’t in a position to criticize Islam, which sounds rather like saying that if you aren’t a scholar of Mein Kampf, you’re not in a position to criticize Nazism. Well pardon me if I make my judgements on the evidence the supporters of these vile ideologies put in front of us. And the worst of it all is that these evils and all the evils that will come, are all totally avoidable. That’s what causes the deepest, unassuageable pain for those of us with eyes to see, and how much more so for those who love Lee Rigby.

How lovely it would be to see those two ugly murderers sans heads. Their heads on spikes at the Tower of London.
One thing cheered me up today. I was walking in a smart London street, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and I saw a notice on a Solicitor’s office. “Foreclosed” A shyster actually going bust? But then I thought, maybe he or she was that rare bird an honest lawyer, and was paying the price for decency. I do hope it was a vile creature, like that David Gottlieb who defended the murderers of Rigby.

Was my suggestion at David Ossitt December 19th, 2013 – 16:14, of no use?
Words from his brother.
Jeremiah Adebolajo told Sky News: “My brother’s blood is no more expensive than the blood of an Afghan child, and I think Lee Rigby’s blood is no more expensive than an Iraqi child.”
When asked if he had any regrets over the murder in Woolwich, Mr Adebolajo replied: “My main regret is that foreign troops are in the land of the Muslims.”
My main regret is that Muslims are living in the lands of the Christians.
John Birch
“My main regret is that foreign troops are in the land of the Muslims.”
As you say, a commnet that applies with equal force the other way, given his brother claims to be a ‘soldier’ of islam.
Douglas Murray (Spectator blogs) quotes Cameron :
“…..nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act / that justifies acts of terror.”
Murray writes:”Far from having nothing to do with Islam, the killing of Lee Rigby had everything to do with Islam”.

We understood such things, and still do, but in one of their stifling fits of morality, the Yanks legislated against the practice. This of course put American firms under a disadvantage, therefore in time honoured fashion they strong armed other nations into following suit, notably ourselves, and once more our essential interests are sacrificed. The Americans would respect us far more if, once in a while we gave them the two fingered salute and pointed out that we are not one of their satellites.
Anyone hear the louse, Anjem Choudary on radio 4 just after 8
Why hasn’t he been charged with inciting murder and violence?

stephen, I usually agree with you, but this time, I sadly do not. If we must be satellites, as we are already of the EU, would you prefer that we be satellites too of the arab countries. I am afraid we are also satellites of the damn moslem world, including the huge population leeching here.
Anne,
You are right we are satellites of other interests, particularly of the toxic EU. Unfortunately our ruling elite like nothing better than being kicked in the goolies by foreigners. this is not a modern phenomenon, it can be traced way back in our history, and when finally our rulers find the balls to hit back it is always the poor bloody infantry who are sent out to face the artillery.

“Anyone hear the louse, Anjem Choudary on radio 4 just after 8”
After my first mouthful of coffee my blood pressure woldn’t stand it; I turned it off. But in the few seconds my ears were polluted by his voice I realised that this was one guy that Humphrys wasn’t going to be able to bully. Was he ever asked, for instance, if he understood and accepted the concept that within these borders UK law has primacy over all others, including the koran and its associated hadiths?
David Ossitt – 16:14 – I apologise, but I missed this most useful suggestion.
Regarding Nigella Lawson v. the Grillo sisters (who have been cleared), David Cameron is reported to have said “I have already said enough on this issue” after previously claiming to support “Team Nigella”.
Just shows how true the old saying is; “It is better to say nothing and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”.

As a qualified solicitor and so an Officer of the High court, I’m certain that he understands it perfectly.
He just doesn’t accept that human law, and law devised by the kuffar at that, is sperior to the sharia.

As an ex BAE employee I agree with what you say. It’s not just export sales by the UK’s Defence industry which have been devastated by Nrw Labour’s sanctimonious 2010 Bribery Act. It has been the kiss of death for many marginal businesses.
I’ve had a rather disturbed week. I was walking the dog early Wednesday morning when I suddenly felt a little faint, and then the world started spinning around me. I sat down on a nearby step and fortunately one of my daughters walked past at just that time and called my father for help. He drove me the few hundred yards to his house and an ambulance crew arrived shortly afterwards and plugged me in to various monitors. Before they had finished with me my wife arrived from work leaving in a hurry to get home. I spent the day in hospital and was checked for a heart attack, a stroke and had a brain scan. All were negative fortunately, though the world was still spinning when I was sent home in the evening. Yesterday I stayed in bed. Things had slowed down, but I couldn’t easily walk around. Today I am still a little unsteady but have been feeling well enough to walk and drive a little.
It was all a bit of a shock, though I felt at peace throughout. My main concerns were that I have responsibilities over the next few days in various places, that I would rather still be around for my youngest child, and that I had lots of things with passwords and pin numbers that only I know and it would be hugely inconvenient for people were I to expire!
Indeed my wife had similar thoughts and required me to hand over the pin number to my credit card since she didn’t know it.
The ambulance staff were excellent. The hospital ward was clean. The staff were pleasant. But there was quite a noticeable inefficiency in treatment. I could have been sent home much earlier, especially since they had not diagnosed my complaint, simply excluded other more dangerous ones. And I was sent home without a diagnosis and with the room still spinning, and still unable to walk.
Such was my brush with mortality this week. I certainly have a greater motivation to lose some weight and look after myself better.
Peter,
I’m sure I speak for all of us Wallsters in expressing our concern and wishing you a full, speedy recovery from whatever has happened.
Peter from Maidstone
Dear Peter, please don’t neglect this episode It could just be too much pressure at work, and emotional exhaustion, but it could be something more serious. If you want my advice, I’d advise you to do what I did. Go to a good doctor, not NHS, it won’t cost the earth. Once and for all, get this sorted out, and the doctor will write to your GP advising further treatment and/or investigations. I saved my life doing this at the end of last year. Be well and G-d bless.
Dear Anne, I think it was an incident of vertigo and I think it was caused by an inner ear infection. I did have a brain scan and that came back mercifully negative, and the ECG didn’t show anything either, and my blood pressure was fine. In fact I was rather glad to have had an MOT and been declared not entirely un-roadworthy. The main anxiety is that it came on suddenly and if I were away from home or driving the car some distance I would be stuck. God willing it won’t happen again if I take better care of myself. I do wonder if listening to very loud music the evening before had provoked it? One of my children had annoyed me and I was sitting in the kitchen with headphones on listening to Humble Pie very loud indeed.
Peter from Maidstone
December 20th, 2013 – 18:31
Sounds logical. I get really ill when I hear certain ‘music’, especially that musik department stores and shops hurl at us! A combination of anger, emotional tension and headphones are not a healthy combination. When my son was a teenager, many of the records played really gave me migraine, and then of course I felt guilty. Oh, happy days! (they go too quickly).
Peter from Maidstone @ 17:56
Peter, a word of advice: have as many checks as possible, definitely find out what engendered the symptoms. Don’t be put off by anything, insist, politely, but without ever yielding to any excuses. And keep in good spirits.
The BAE Arabic business, or rather the loss of it, shows how much we are coupled to the Islamic countries, and how much the Islamic elite make in kickbacks, whether from us or from others willing to trade with them. One can only guess how much of it, the money, gets to finance the schooling of the next religiously inspired thugs.
Peter from Maidstone December 20th, 2013 – 17:56
“I’ve had a rather disturbed week. I was walking the dog early Wednesday morning when I suddenly felt a little faint, and then the world started spinning around me.”
Peter my deepest sympathy I do hope that you are feeling better very soon.
However I echo the words from Anne Wotana Kaye 1 and Baron, do not count the cost (it will not be too much anyway) and get yourself to a Consultant, if you have faith in your GP ask him to give you the contact details to someone that he recommends.
Do it now.
Even if it turns out to be something mundane like ear-wax that has effected your balance it will be well worth it, if only for you and your familiars peace of mind.
The Rochdale report is out, all names redacted. That’s the transparency of the enlightened Britain. Treasonable that.
And the top police tosser says it has nothing to do with race. The man’s retarded from birth, or he morphed into a retard from too much PC. If it were white, Christian men raping Muslim girls, he would be wetting his pants insisting it was raaaaaasist. Bastard.
It only show what Baron’s been saying all along, many of you are reluctant to agree with. It us, the Quislings are of us, they are the ones who do the damage, they are the ones we should be after.
Rochdale today another five Pakistani bastards go down for child grooming and rape this follows the nine earlier this year and all of the others all over our green and once pleasant land where there is the infestation that is Islam.
A local bod said this is the turning point, what a load of sh*te.
Now cleared of recipe theft we may hope that the Grillo sisters will return triumphantly to Itay and help Beppe in throwing off the EU’s yoke.
The story linked to above about the lady being taken to a tribunal over golliwogs is pure Kafka.
It is straight out of The Trial with the lady in question taking the role of Josef K.
They don’t dare bring a criminal charge. That would mean open court.
So they use some other form of tribunal.
Accountable to public?
Oh no.
What is it she has done?
To suggest that golliwogs are not racist.
There can never be any other point of view other than that golliwogs are racist?
These people hold divine authority over free speech.
They say what you can think.
And when they bring a tribunal, they make sure no-one can see the evidence being taken, because – again – they have authority over free speech.
They will publish their findings!
Woop de do.
We know what they’ll find. They’ll find against her.
Why can’t her evidence and arguments against their point of view be seen and heard?
It is pure Kafka, only without being fiction.

gonna post a verse for the koran here – so we know what they stand for.
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement
surat 5:33
Matthew d’Ancona wrote of Boris Johnson this week: ‘He shares with his mentor, Michael Heseltine, a swashbuckling love of the grand projet.’
http://www.standard.co.uk/comment/matthew-dancona-boris-johnsons-airports-stance-is-all-about-landing-at-no-10-9012352.html
Which just shows it’s all about new faces who can cover up the smell and start selling the same old xxxt from the Tory Party, because Heseltine is also Cameron’s mentor.
Heseltine’s favourite grand projet is the EU. It was Heseltine who said: ‘The nation states have had their day as powers. The world must be more ordered and centralised . . . it’s unstoppable and irreversible’
Johnson’s father was an EU commissioner and a Bilderberg member.
That’s what it’s all about – a few at the top looking after themselves with centralised control over the serfs.
They are clearly getting ready for Dave’s exit, which must come soon, regardless of whether it is before 2015 or soon after.
Same old xxxt.
Nick Clegg adds spiteful insult to mortal injury:
‘Lee Rigby was not killed in the name of Islam. His murderers betrayed the Muslim faith, perverting and warping a religion of peace. The sight of Michael Adebolajo smiling and kissing a copy of the Koran as the verdict was read out was an offence to millions of devout and peace-loving Muslims. Terrorism has no religion.’
http://www.standard.co.uk/comment/nick-clegg-the-fight-against-extremism-must-unite-the-capital-9017831.html
And he can’t wait to cash in his reward from Cameron for forming a coalition a bonanza salary and pension from the EU when he heads off there as a commissioner after the election to make a financial killing on the taxpayer.
The test of whether Adebolajo killed in the name of the ‘religion of peace’ or not lies with the Muslim leaders. If they were to denounce him, issue a fatwa on him, call him a traitor to the cause of peace their religion was advancing….
They’ve done no such thing. Their silence is telling. Someone should tell the boy of the confused party. If the mullahs were to say what Cleggy did, perhaps one would think the creed wasn’t pushing for what the two thugs said they wanted to accomplish.

Baron’s on the reading trail, has to catch up with events. On the Guardian website there’s a piece about the Ugandan Parliament passing an anti-gay law. In the Comment section a large chunk of readers’ postings are removed. If one reads the ones published they are all against the proposed Act.
You can have just one guess what will have your posting moderated out.
Mark Steyn in his latest piece quotes Bob Hope’s joke, which, he says, one can no longer say publicly: “I’ve just flown in from California, where they’ve made homosexuality legal. I thought I’d get out before they make it compulsory.”

Malfleur:
The online Thesaurus says to rant is “to speak or declaim extravagantly or violently; talk in a wild or vehement way”. One would be hard put to define this chap anything but speaking extravagantly, often violently, in a wild or vehement way. Even you must see it.
It happens that his take on an event or two may resonate with Baron, but overall, Jones has his own world view, explains everything through the prism of it. That’s fine with Baron, but in no way it would make the barbarian to worship the guy the way you seem to. Again, your take on him’s fine with the barbarian, but why force it on others? If there’s is anyone Baron associate with very close is this chap Russell Taylor. You’ve never yet commented on him. Why?
Also to the point, Baron hasn’t got the luxury to spend over two hours per shot listening to him every day anyway, all the barbarian can do is to push the the cursor to another topic, and that’s what he did with the link today.
On the veteran issue, the beer bit, well it’s commendable that someone gives the boys who risked their lives a chance of not only a job but a career. The guy who set it up, the veterans, as well as the Republic benefit (if the beer’s brewed in the US). No problem. On the NSA cum banks, PayPal, well, Baron just doesn’t buy the package that the NSA is synonymous with the Googles, big banks, that’s just over the top.
It’s a judgment, Malfleur, we all are capable of it, and we can all differ. That’s a prt of what makes us free agents.
Enough to end the sparring over ranting?

Did the poorly educated Slav get the verb’s meaningg wrong again?
A joke that came a minute ago from Baron’s American friend.
Barack Obama meets with the Queen of England, asks her: “Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?”
“Well,” says the Queen, “the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people.” Obama frowns. “But how do I know the people around me are really intelligent?”
The Queen takes a sip of tea. “Oh, that’s easy; you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle.” The Queen pushes a button on her intercom. “Please send Tony Blair in here, would you?”
Tony Blair walks into the room and says, “Yes, my Queen?”
The Queen smiles and says, “Answer me this please, Tony, your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?”
Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answers, “That would be me.”
“Yes! Very good,” says the Queen.
Obama goes back home to ask Joe Biden, his vice president the same question. “Joe, answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a child. It’s not your brother and it’s not your sister. Who is it?”
“I’m not sure,” says Biden. “Let me get back to you on that one…” He goes to his advisors and asks every one, but none could give him an answer. Finally, he ends up in the men’s room and recognizes Colin Powell’s shoes in the next stall. Biden asks Powell, “Colin, can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it’s not your brother or your sister. Who is it?”
Colin Powell says, “That’s easy, it’s me!”
Biden smiles, and says, “Thanks!” Then, he goes back to speak with Obama. “Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It’s Colin Powell!”
Obama gets up, stomps over to Biden, and angrily yells into his face, “No! you idiot! It’s Tony Blair!”
Baron
“…but why force it on others?”

They kill Christians and desecrate their places of worship, almost without censure throughout the Middle East and what is more in certain countries Christianity is entirely prohibited.
They treat their women, wife’s, sisters and daughters as third rate citizens, without equality in law denying them equal rights in all aspects of daily life and refuse to properly education them in all of the countries where they are in the majority.
In many of their countries their women are obliged to shroud their entire bodies from public view.
In certain countries they inflict the barbaric and evil mutilate of the vaginas of pre-pubescent girls.
In many of their countries suicide bombers and the killing of the innocent are rife and are an almost daily occurrence.
Animals for human consumption are slaughtered in a cruel uncivilised manner.
The book that guides their lives, tells them that it is right and proper to lie to all non-believers, this same book preaches violence to all non-believers and preaches the ant-Semitism that all Jews should be killed.
In western host countries gangs of them have used alcohol and drugs to groomed and rape under age white girls, this is occurring wherever they live in large numbers.
They commit benefit fraud, car insurance fraud and the gerrymandering results of elections is a common practice and is almost epidemic.
Their sons and daughter make plans and some carry these out by committing bombing atrocities in their host countries, they are terrorists who wish to terrorise in the name of their book.
Who are these barbarians?
They are followers of what our rulers tell us is the Religion of Peace, they are all Muslims and they are all our enemies.

I’ve looked for news of this on the BBC, Daily Mail and Express websites, but this one is the only one (so far) that I’ve found that carries this news. Despite it’s seeming to be among the earliest to be brave enough to report it, the CBC site is too politically correct to refer – as it should – to “Two Muslims”. French pub fined €9,000 after customers returned empties to bar – because it’s ‘undeclared labour’
““Around half-past midnight, a customer returned a drinks tray. She passed by the bar to go to the toilets. That was when it all kicked off. My husband was pinned against the glass by a man. A woman leapt on me, showing her ID card and that’s when I realised it was a URSSAF check. They told me I had been caught using undeclared labour,” owner Markya Le Floch told Le Télégramme.
“It is a scam. We haven’t committed any wrong doing,” she added.”

Ok conservative Geese, beaks open, I’m going to force you to consume 20 minutes of Alex Jones last Friday in a bravura monologue demonstrating the passion, energy an eloquence which can be brought to bear in the defence of freedom of speech in the face of tyranny from Santa Claus to Christ to Piers Morgan – don’t choke on it now, it’s good for your liver:

What I was also planning to force on you and promote as one of my heroes, my fellow conservatives, was Michael Savage’s programme of December 13th which he devoted largely to the disgraceful banning of him by successive British governments. The theme was prompted by the invitation which he received, but had regretfully to decline, to participate in a debate on whistleblowers at the Oxford Union. From that Shariagraph link above, underneath the story, one poster called Traveller writes:
White people have been tricked and culturally terrorised by decades of relentless demonisation, intimidation, public show trials, Public Order Acts, Race Relations Amendment employment Acts, speech codes, persecutions, prosecutions, prison sentences and media witch hunts – into accepting that those things which make them human and give lífe substance and meaning, their shared ancestry, history, mythology, legends, customs, literature, language, norms, and folk memory is nothing more than a meaningless optical illusion , a sociological fraud, an evil anti-social artifical social construct.
Only White people are expected to benefit from third world religious, cultural and ethnic balkanisation, and look foward to with gladness and to celebrate with glee becoming a despised, discriminated against and dispossessed minority of dwindling numbers and influence.
White middle class Liberals are the only peoples on the entire planet and the only people in all of human history who have pursued policies that not only make their own group economically, culturally, territoriallly and ethnically weaker, but are handing over their children’s inheritance to foreign peoples without a fight, in fact they are actively facillitating it and persecuting any whites who try to organise to stop it.
It is a cult of malignant moral narcissism and fanatical pathological altruism.
That Shariagraph article is full of despairing comments.

White middle /upper class bourgeois Left /Liberal Progressives who are now the sole arbiters of accepted morality in the West, believe that Western civilization has a proble, and this people is the existence of white people.
In the mind of the Left Liberal Progressive, giving one’s heritage and county away to non-whites and condemning ones own civilization and race as inherently evil, is considered one of the most noble and highest acts of virtue and charity imaginable.
The Left Liberal Progressives feels an immense sense of ego-glow moral supremacy when he does this.
They are obsessed with race – the white race.
The Left Liberal Progressive claims that race is just a meaningless social construct.
In other words, your bonds of shared kinship, ancestry, history, mythology, legend, art, song, language, literature, heroes, values, and folk memory is a primitive social construct from a former barbarous age that they the more englightened of us have transcended.
But then they expose their double standard of hypocrisy.
They switch “race” on and off according to need.
When the Left Liberal speaks of affirmative action, race exists.
When we speak of rights for whites, he claims race does not exist.
When we speak of the black crime rates, race does not exist.
For the Left /Liberal Progressive, “anti-racist” the only time the white race exists is when spoken of in terms of guilt, shame and sorrow for being the supposed cause of all the worlds evils.
What does the Left/ Liberal Progressive get out of this ?
They get cost-free / personal-sacrifice free moral supremacy
They get social approval, acceptance and admiration amongst their group.
They can avoid the slings and arrows of adversity and unpopularity by group conformism.
They can feel “good” about themselves.
Also from The Shariagraph article (I’ll paste them here before the Censor deletes them):

The biggest migrant group is now those born in India, which accounts for 694,000 people in England and Wales.
It is followed by Poland in second place with 579,000 migrants, Pakistan with 482,000, and then Ireland with 407,000, the ONS said.”
What this article fails to point out is when you add the number of immigrants from Pakistan to the other Muslim immigrants from Bangledesh, Somali, Nigeria etc and add in the proportion of Indian immigrants that are Muslim then the biggest group of immigrants to the Uk are Muslims.
Muslims who have an unemployment rate of 55% for men and 75% for women and a family size of 5 or 6 children.
The muslim population has doubled in the last 10 years.
You only have to look at the demographics of the population for under 25s to see the effect on the ethic/religious make up of this country.

Anna Soubry would naturally be a single mother. It is only surprising that she would actually produce offspring in the natural manner. Her disgusting remark about Nigel Farage ” looking “like someone has put their finger up his bottom ” in this mornings Andrew Marr program, reveals her experience of those who are intimate with her. The Conservative Party, like the Socialists is filled with perverts and traitors.

Isn’t there an EDL? Or has it been totally emasculated?
An EDL is too easy for the authorities to close down.
It would have to be an Anti-Sharia League or a Real Free Speech League.
Why use a title that is a gift to the authorities?

Poor Elias. There is a solution, but it is considered racist. Serves the so-correct Norwegians right.
For those who missed it there was a fine, uplifting article in Standpoint last month on the rise and rise of Marine Le Pen and the Front National in France which will put you in the ‘Right mood’ for the festive season.
It’s most enjoyably read ignoring the final jarring proto-socialist paragraph and substituting all references to ‘France’ with Great Britain and Nigel Farage for Marine Le Pen, (or even Tommy Robinson, if that’s your delusion).

The article on Marine Le Pen is excellent.
The big lesson, I think, is about voters not compromising.
They must not re-elect Sarkozy (or similar) to oust Hollande.
That is just a French version of le grande British delusion: vote Tory for fear of Labour.
No, no, no.
There can be no re-writing of the political landscape until the old parties are written out of the picture.
If, as looks likely, Miliband wins / shares power with Limp Dims, this is what Britain needs: to shift ground to someone like Le Pen, whether it be Farage or someone else.
This pathetic charade of pretending LibLabCon are different from each other has got to stop.
What I see in France from that article matches my favourite Bootism: things must get worse before they get better.
Stop thinking that the sticking plaster of voting for Dave, Johnson, Gove, May or whoever else is the Tory du jour.
That party must be abandoned.
It has had 50 years since Enoch Powell.
That is two generations of treachery.
How long do they need exactly?
How many second chances must they have?
Shariagraph readers are producing excellent comments today.
Pity the Irish readers who, because of their country’s naturally low indigene numbers are being wiped out in a single generation by an ethnic cleansing program led by Alan Shatter.
What is worse for them is that – despite a raft of politcal parties – none resembles UKIP or Le Pen’s party.
They have nothing.
No alternative.
Sinn Fein is just Marxism on stilts – as they’ve realised too late.
UKIP, by the way, has a new website, UKIPDaily (unmentioned in the mainstream media, of course) to rebut Lynton Crosby’s under-the-radar smear stories as fed to the Daily Mail and Shariagraph:

There is nothing to be gained by voting Conservative EVER again.
It is no shield and no blanket against something worse.
Brits must let it get worse before it gets better and gather under another political banner.
And don’t expect any help from the Daily Mail, Shariagraph or Spivtator.

Looking at the miserable colours they are exhibiting on their racks this season, the answer must be YES!
Will Marks & Soencer have the same consideration for orthodox Jewish salespeople? Also will they excuse Buddist workers from handling butchered animals and birds?
The other M&S story is about them scrapping a boys’ toy section and a girls’ toy section for a now gender neutral toy layout.
It reminds me of Peter Mandelson’s comment about being “intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich”.
What he meant was that Labour had learnt how to harness big business into social engineering programs.
I notice it here in the US but much more so on UK websites.
Heaps and heaps of mixed race children and shovelled into ads for children’s products, which marks a massive shift even from five years ago.
Look at what M&S is doing.
It is backdoor politicis.
Of course it is.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2525681/Marks-Spencer-announced-market-toys-gender-neutral-spring.html
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2525396/Gender-neutral-toys-stocked-Marks–Spencer.html
Notice the Common Purpose playbook at work.
Arm’s length campaigning group says something.
It is adopted into policy as: ‘We’re listening.’
Would you listen to the opposite M&S?
Would you listen to telling the Muslim to do the same job as everyone else in the store?
Of course you wouldn’t.
You select the ‘pressure’ you respond to.
And, oh, look how politically correct it is.
So customer has a trolley full of stuff, get to the checkout and a muslim employee finds my bacon at the bottom. they refuse to check out the item. What does the customer do then. If it was me it would be ‘Well M&S, you dont want my money’, and walk out. I was in one supermarket and had queued to checkout. Got to the front of the queue and they closed the till. They had to put my trolley full of stuff away as I walked out.
What is it with people in the UK that they will not abandon the mainstream political parties and businesses that spit in their faces every day of their lives?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2527820/Marks-Spencer-tells-Muslim-staff-CAN-refuse-serve-customers-buying-alcohol-pork.html
This store should be closed down within weeks through boycott.
And no apologies accepted.
Yet ‘Middle England’ herds itself in and out like sheep.
‘Tell us where to go, Mr Cameron.’
The M&S directive to Muslim staff re pig products and alcohol will rebound on them.
Henceforth I shall place all pork products and alcohol at the bottom of my trolly.
I will then actively seek out a till were the cashier looks to be a possible Muslim, if he or she puts all of my offered items through the till and then declines the offending products I will smile say thank you and pay my bill.
I will not remove the items nor will I go to another till I will simply place them in my bags once I am away from the till, on the principle that I had offered to pay but the cashier refused my money and I had not been charged and so were mine for free.

It is timely as well as I see from the DT and from posts above that what I call the Scotch Egg Factor or SCF is coming more and more into play in England. When I lived in Balham in 1984 before leaving for Asia early the following year, I had been buying scotch eggs from a small shop near the Underground on my way home from work. The shop was run by a very intelligent and eloquent Ugandan Asian who had been a business man when Idi Amin was in power and fled with his family because of the depredations of the military. I felt considerable sympathy for him. The shopkeeper was islamic and belonged to some sect or other.
One day there were no scotch eggs.
The shopkeeper had discovered that they contained pork.
For me it was the awakening, though on a very modest scale at that time.\

A Christmas book review-
“Mind Forg’d Manacles” by Jon Gower.
“The Macpherson Report into the handling of the murder of Stephen Lawrence became a defining moment in British political history. It accused the Metropolitan Police of ‘institutional racism’, an ambiguous phrase that has been regularly confused with overt racism. The concept was used not only to condemn the Metropolitan Police, but also to condemn all British police forces. For many commentators, it condemned Britain as a whole as a racist society. In Mind Forg’d Manacles, Jon Gower Davies argues that the charge of institutional racism was ill-founded and that reforms designed to address it have introduced negative and unintended consequences for British policing. It has bogged down the police with unnecessary and counter-productive bureaucratic demands. It has paralysed the investigation of some crimes that involve ethnic minority suspects, frequently exposing vulnerable victims to greater harms. Davies presents an alternative, optimistic perspective on British society. Racism is, in fact, a rarity and its occasional appearance rightly condemned. The police are generally respected and trusted by British people of all ethnic origins. Imputing institutional racism to a whole society unfairly smears the majority of fair-minded people while removing moral responsibility from the minority of people who fail o measure up to British standards of equality. Davies concludes: ‘Macpherson – not only obviated the need to make a realistic if less flamboyant analysis of the limitations of the policing of the murder of Stephen Lawrence, but also led an over-anxious police leadership to make a fool of itself by adopting policies which are neither operationally nor socially nor ethically sound and proper.’

Anyone heard from Peter lately ? Is he OK?
So Denis Matyjaszek AKA Denis MacShane has been given six months for false accounting.
Is it enough?
Does the punishment fit the crime?
I would argue that he has got off far too lightly but then we have seen this before others have been released after two or three months tagged and on licence.
But those wrongs do not make this right, in the first place this slimy crook had other questions to answer, among these were huge claims for a home office in his Rotherham garage, £5,900 for 8 laptop-computers between March 2005 and January 2009 Etcetera.
This ex-MP had previously pleaded guilty to false accounting by filing 19 fake receipts for “research and translation” these bogus expense claims amounting to nearly £13,000. These were repeated over a long period of time.
The money was used to fund a series of trips to Europe, (jollies) including one to judge a literary competition in Paris.
What this fails to tell is that the claims were made by a think tank that he was the only member of but had other spurious members, he submitted more than a dozen invoices to the Commons fees office bearing the heading of the European Policy Institute, each bill was justified by the one line—”research and translation” —followed by a demand for fees ranging between £550 and £950.
The European Policy Institute, has or had a ghost presence on the Internet, and is controlled by Mr MacShane’s brother.
The judge at the trial Mr Justice Sweeney said that he had considered a number of mitigating features, including MacShane’s guilty plea, and that the offences were “not committed out of greed or for personal profit”.
Mr Justice Sweeney is either a bloody fool or else living in cloud cuckoo-land to say that Denis MacShane commited the crime but “not out of greed or for personal profit”.
Those are the only reasons that this crook and all of the other crooked politicians steal from the public purse ‘this is our money’, six years not six months would have been more appropriate.

Many people have an instinctive understanding of what that spiteful meglomaniac Michael Heseltine meant when he said: ‘The nation states have had their day as powers. The world must be more ordered and centralised . . . it’s unstoppable and irreversible.’
Rarely, though, have I seen the agenda set out as clearly as in this article:
“The powers of financial capitalism had (a) far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole.
“This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences.
“The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland; a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.
“Each central bank… sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world.”
Carroll Quigley, member of the Council on Foreign Relations
Central Bankers and their political proponents espouse a globalist ideology, meaning, they are internationalists in their orientation and motivations.
They do not have loyalties to any particular country.
They do not take an oath to any particular constitution.
They do not have empathy for any particular culture or social experiment.
They have their own subculture, with their own “values”, and their own social hierarchy.
They are a kind of “tribe” or “sect”; a cult,if you will, that views itself as superior to all others.
This means that when the central bankers that run the Fed act, they only act with the intention to support and promote globalization, not the best interests of America and Americans.
“It must not be felt that the heads of the world’s chief central banks were themselves substantive powers in world finance.
“They were not.
“Rather they were the technicians and agents of the dominant investment bankers of their own countries, who had raised them up, and who were perfectly capable of throwing them down.
“The substantive financial powers of the world were in the hands of these investment bankers who remained largely behind the scenes in their own unincorporated private banks.
“These formed a system of international cooperation and national dominance which was more private, more powerful, and more secret than that of their agents in the central banks. ”
Carroll Quigley, Tragedy And Hope
The Left and Right leadership, at the top of the pyramid, are nothing more than flunkies for the global elite.

So we now here that Rolf Harris faces more sex charges, on top of the 13 alleged sexual offences with which Mr Harris was charged on 29 August 2013, there are now a further three.
Some of the new allegations date back 45 years, with one relating to a girl of seven or eight in 1968 or 1969, a second relates to a girl of 14 in 1975, whilst the third is an allegation of indecent assault on a 19-year-old girl in 1984, who is the same complainant as six of the previously existing counts.
Harris will next appear at Southwark Crown Court for a plea hearing on January 14, with a trial set to start on April 30.
If he is found guilty I do hope that his punishment will be appropriate for such serious offences but guilty or innocent the time scale, charged August this year with the trial set for April 30th 2014 is in my opinion cruel and callous.
For a man of his age, he will be 84 on the 30th March, an eight month delay for any octogenarian is quite disgraceful, doubly so if he is acquitted.
I have said before that in cases like these, where the defendant is found to be innocent, the accusers should be charged with perverting the cause of justice and duly punished.
Maybe I am wrong to do so but I do feel so very sorry for him and I hope that he is found to be innocent.

“In the modern era, Switzerland has emerged as the one of the richest countries in the world in terms of wealth per head of population: its average wage of around £60,000 a year is more than twice that of the UK.”
And every household can bear arms, in 2001 statistics, it is noted that there are about 420,000 assault rifles (fully automatic, or “selective fire”) stored at private homes, mostly SIG SG 550 models.
Additionally, there are some 320,000 semi-auto rifles and military pistols exempted from military service in private possession, all selective-fire weapons having been converted to semi-automatic operation only.
In addition, there are several hundred thousand other semi-automatic small arms classified as carbines.
The total number of firearms in private homes is estimated minimally at 1.2 million to 3 million.

We will have Christmas Day to ourselves and we rather like it to be just the two of us but will be having close family for Boxing Day.
In anticipation of this my beloved has spent the entire day baking in the kitchen, pies, tarts, cupcakes, bread and dozens and dozens of mince pies.
When I asked had she made the Stolen she nearly hit me, before saying “first job tomorrow morning”.
I love Christmas and so does my beloved, I do feel sorry for all of those dullards who rant on about consumerism and how Christmas is not what it was.
I think Christmas is part of the fabric of our lives and for me it is a joy.
I don’t want to pre-judge Rolf Harris’ case either way – he may be innocent.
But when people ask how Savile got away with it, a lot boils down to his power as a celebrity.
Which is why I don’t find Richard Littlejohn’s ‘joke’ about ‘Meanwhile Jimmy Savile is still dead’ funny.
Because there wasn’t a cat in hell’s chance of convicting Savile while he was alive.
He was a powerful celebrity, with friends in high places, from the senior police officers who regularly too tea with him to the Royal family, who he always boasted of having known for a ‘million years’.
Whatever the outcome, the scale of the Harris case appears to be a minnow compared with the other, more serious allegations about umpteen politicians that never seem to come to anything.
Insofar as I understand the allegations against Harris, they amount to groping.
In that sense, the case appears to replicate the Establishment’s attitude to MPs’ expenses probe: a few minor cases go through the courts, while much more severe allegations against much more powerful people go untested.
In this case, it is politicians, business people and royals who seem to have been left alone.

“So Denis Matyjaszek AKA Denis MacShane has been given six months for false accounting.”
Our local BBC 6.30pm News is Look North and this does cover Rotherham Town, the area for which the thief and embezzler MacShane was MP and where he has or rather had his constituency home.
On tonight’s Look North we had on a local labour councillor who was stood in the street outside this house whilst pointing to the garage, he said “look it is a garage and yet he (MacShane) claimed over £120,000 for the rental of”, he went on to say “claims for gas, when there is no gas supply, claims for heating there is no heating, claims for a non-existent television, we have been complaining about it for years”.
I pose the question, should not the Public Prosecutor be waiting at the gates to the prison in three months’ time, when he is released?
They could then charge him with all of his other felonies and cancel his early release and send him back inside and one month prior to his six month release date take him to court for a speedy trial and then send him down again.
This next time for years.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2528195/PETER-MCKAY-Why-did-gun-police-spare-Woolwich-murderers.html
For some strange reason the DM prints a suggestion that Blair was trying to look “concerned but sincere”.
I don’t know if that was either Blairs’s or Adams’ aim, but so far as I’m concerned, I see nothing of the sort. What I see in the painting sends shivers down my spine. It would be interesting to know if it has the same effect on Verity.

“Wow, even more bloodthirsty than me!”
The idea was given to me a while ago, when we were delivering a load of jet fuel and other stuff to RAF Gan Island. The Gan Island security police were Pakistani, although for day to day work the RAF employed local Maldivian labour. The sight of their fleet of boats sailing in at first light each morning was quite something. However, to both RAF an the Pakistanis the rest of the atoll was absolutely off limits. A tale they relished telling in the Officers’ Mess was of one policeman who, fancying some extra-curricular nookie, took himself off to one of the other islands one night. Nothing was heard of him for three days, then, in their inimitable service style they described how he came back on the prevailing current, slowly, bit by bit!

30 minute interview with Nigel Farage about a week ago:

Just a flimsy thought, but Saville and Rolf Harris are miles apart in appeal to young girls. Saville was a faux friendly show-off — an adolescenet, grand-standing smarty-pants. Rolf Harris is witty and subtle and his humour apppeals to adults who have had some experience of life.
My conclusion: Certain paties are trying to conflate the two for obvious reasons.
Jimmy Saville was a pervert. No poste-case information can alter that.
Verity, with regard to Rolf Harris, can someone remember something that happened 45 years ago when they were 7 with any clarity unless it was some truly appalling act of sexual abuse? I mean if it is merely an accusation of a misplaced hand then it seems to me to be inconceivable that he should be charged on the basis of such an ancient memory of such a young, at the time, child.
I can just about remember being smacked by mother when I was 7. Not even smacked, but sitting on her knee after I had been smacked. What sort of false memories of that event could be concocted by a ‘therapist’.

Peter my only sibling my sister (she died in 2000) was a full nine years younger than me and therefore I was sixteen when she was sexually assaulted by the father of her very best friend a serving Officer in The Royal Air Force.
He made her touch his erect penis, my father had to restrain me when I heard this, he told me to leave it to the police and so we did.
They were caring and sympathetic but said nothing could be done because the word of one seven years old girl against his denial was of no use, however they did say that should another child complain in the future it might, just might be a different story.
I am far from happy about this case, it would appear that no sex or abuse is involved or claimed only inappropriate touching.
Hi David Sorry to hear about your sisters experience. This was indeed my point. Unless something very explicitly sexual took place it is hard to imagine a 7 year old remembering and understanding a misplaced hand.

Why does the Speccie continue to censor this string of posts? There is absolutely nothing unacceptable about them. What gives here? Explain yourself.
‘Why do you insist on censoring all this? This is relevant commentary. It is ironic that you’d here squelch free speech and liberty, in a blogpost about battling the dark forces of fascists who sought to censor and destroy free speech and liberty. Hi and Merry Christmas. I’m honored to have a chance to speak with you and your family this year. Recently we learned that our governments, working in concert, have created a system of worldwide system of mass surveillance watching everything we do. Great Britain’s George Orwell warned us of the danger of this kind of information.
The types of collection in the book -– microphones and video cameras, TVs that watch us –- are nothing compared to what we have available today. We have sensors in our pockets that track us everywhere we go. Think about what this means for the privacy of the average person.
A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They’ll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves an unrecorded, unanalyzed thought. And that’s a problem because privacy matters; privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we want to be.
The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it. Together we can find a better balance, end mass surveillance, and remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying.
For everyone out there listening, thank you and Merry Christmas.
This report makes it sound like the Egyptian government is taking robust measures against the Muslim Brotherhood –
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/26/world/middleeast/egypt-calls-muslim-brotherhood-a-terrorist-group.html?_r=0
However it seems to me that the really important questions are –
1. How robust will the Egyptian government’s measures really be and is there any likelihood that we will see even stronger measures than Kemal Attaturk applied in Turkey? and
2. Whether the Turkish army will be encouraged to do something similar in Turkey?
So far as western countries are concerned, can we expect anything from our governments, our media and our Establishments – other than anguished handwringing, and politically correct determination to give refuge and generous social benefits to even more terrorists?

In the way these things do, this led me to Wikipedia to recall whether he was brought up as a Catholic, since I knew that his father was a lancing man. There I came across this anecdote which Wallsters, were i not tgo post it here, might otherwise miss:
“…During his National Service, he was commissioned into the Royal Horse Guards and served in Cyprus, where he was almost killed in a machine gun accident. Annoyed by a fault in the machine gun on his armoured car which he drove frequently, he seized the end of the barrel and shook it, accidentally triggering the mechanism so that the gun fired several bullets through his chest. As a result of his injuries, he lost his spleen, one lung, several ribs, and a finger, and suffered from pain and recurring infections for the rest of his life. While lying on the ground waiting for an ambulance he said to his platoon sergeant: “Kiss me, Chudleigh.” He later recalled, however, that “Chudleigh did not recognise the allusion and from then on treated me with extreme caution…” .”
I never did find my way to the Viceroy’s Gin.

‘The Snowden revelations risk seriously weakening the US’s credibility in pushing for digital freedom and an open internet against a joint Russia-China quest for top down global internet control. The geopolitics of internet governance were exposed at an international telecommunications summit in Dubai last December – Russia and China pulling almost 90 countries including Brazil and South Africa behind them in a test vote. India wobbled before joining the US, EU and Japan.
But efforts to get democratic BRICs to support an open internet may now falter. ‘Do as we say, not as we do’ is never the most convincing of arguments.
Digital freedom may retreat further if the NSA scandal prompts a more rapid fragmentation of the internet as some fear. While Iran and China already seek to segment their national internets, if the EU and others respond with moves to insulate their networks more from the US then fragmentation may gather speed.’

As usual, you do not express yourself clearly; but it does seem that even this late in a stinking year for freedom, you are supporting the unconstitutional surveillance of the entire American people in breach of their constitution under the management of a criminal executive, a bought and sold Congress, and a Supreme Court compromised, it would appear, by the application to certain Justices of information gleaned by those grossly illegal methods.
And are speaking out, by extension, in defence of our own security services who are participating in the use of the illegally obtained information, to be put to purposes we can only guess at, in their role as the pimps of whoever is presently in control of American state machinery.
Congratulations, Fergie, for a job moderately well done. But don’t pretend that you are defending hearth and home by aligning yourself with the suborners of our liberties.

You move the debate on to just how much we tolerate the spoken and written word if it wounds (Fergus Pickering December 26th, 2013 – 15:01).
How do you imagine he goes down in Black America?
Whittle:
“I’m thinking it’s about time we ask why the media sensationalizes the death of one black teenager who gets shot after attacking a guy in Florida. The hundreds of black teens and children murdered by other blacks scarcely makes a ripple in the news. Barack Obama will make public speeches about the justified killing of a black boy … yet is completely silent when a white toddler sitting in a stroller is shot in the face by a black man. It’s amazing how Obama manipulates very ignorant people. Here is one pathetic praise for empty words from one such ignorant person: President Obama’s remarks about the death of Trayvon Martin a few days ago were a fitting honor to the memory of a fallen American Youth – – – a beautiful tribute – – – unquestionable evidence of a President who has a caring compassionate heart. I’m wondering why the “compassionate heart” of Barack Obama doesn’t bleed for the white toddler, murdered by a black man? I can tell you why; Barack Obama is a fraud. Barack Obama can use the death of Trayvon Martin for his own political gain. He will use it to push an agenda to further weaken the United States. People such as the one who wrote the above praise are a disgrace to America when they refuse to see what a fraud Barack Obama is.”
Fergus – 11.38
“How do you imagine he goes down in Black America?”
In an existential war, and we are in the throes of nothing less, it doesn’t matter a damn.
What does matter is the actual truth.
On this side of the pond one would think that only one black lad had been murdered in the last 20 years, but no mention of the hundreds of other dead black boys. Curious eh? Can you think why? Except it’s not at all curious. It’s how these vile totalitarians work.
Blacks are a weapon in the marxist arsenal not because marxists care one iota about blacks, but because they want to destroy whitey, and so far not many blacks have woken up to the fact that wallowing for ever in their goldplated victim status will damn them to stay victims for ever, and in fact their best bet would be to see the preservation of the whiteys who are actually trying to preserve freedom for all. And in order to preserve freedom for all, you have to have a society / nation in which the majority will not tolerate the loss of freedom, and so far in human existence this has only been done by white English speakers.
It’s all a bit like watching British Airways cabin crew on strike wailing that they’re paid less than the pilots, missing the bleeding obvious which is, if you want a pilots wages, then do what is necessary to become a pilot. So, if any self-perceived victim group wants to enjoy the success that the Anglo-sphere has enjoyed, then they need to look to themselves and follow the model.
Individualism.
The infinite variations and achievements by countless individuals all vying with one another in the refiner’s fire of argument which becomes truth is how progress is made. Order and freedom are its fruits. Tribalism and group-think and avoiding the truth is nihilistic. Only by facing the truth and accepting self-determination will anyone stop being their own worst enemy.

Excellent post! Logical and true!
Ostrich(o) and AWK1, thank you both, but I’m only saying what has been better said by better men. Dreadful though that Freedom is a word missing from the mouths of all those who command attention.
Live free or die isn’t a slogan, it’s an imperative. But those who espouse it will have their lives wrecked, which maybe explains my observation above.
Children’s literature is becoming obsessively scatological these days…I’ve just found myself reading “The Dinosaur that pooped Christmas” to my 5YO grandson.

“I am a passionate believer in free speech.”
“I also know the power of words to wound and damage.”
There you go again Fergus, on the one hand assuring us that you are passionately in favour of free speech but then qualifying it by implying that free speech must not wound, hurt or damage others, poppycock.
The politically correct powers that be, are on a quest to rid our language of any words or phrases that might offend others, this will be endless, fresh words will appear to replace those now prohibited.
We see examples of this on a daily basis and the trouble; is that those who might feel offended just happen to be not from the indigenous heterosexual conservative community but from incomer’s lefty-liberals and deviants.
I for one will not temper my speech or patterns of thought to fall in line with this abomination, to have to check each word and opinion prior to speaking is just plainly wrong.
Happy nonconformist New Year.

As the barbarian from the East should by now have learned, the first duty of a citizen upon becoming aware that the government has become a criminal racket using and abusing the laws as it sees fit and implementing, in breach of those laws, a nation-wide network of spies on the lives of the people, is to cry “WOLF!”.
In any society, where freedom is given to only one person or a group of people, this freedom should not allow them to encroach the freedom of another.
As I said the word must not harm.
When for example the press is given complete freedom, it can be likened to be giving it permission to write about anything, about any issue, about anyone. This would lead to people having great fear of the media. In fact, this is already the case in some societies. Newspapers have been known to destroy public figures by delving too much into their private lives. Much of the news is sensationalized and their purpose is quite plain – to increase their sales. Many newspaper companies would publish anything in order to sell copies. Reporters and editors would print anything as long as it furthers their careers.
This does not make sense because while any ordinary citizen is free from such harassment, the celebrities or public figures are hounded. Quite often, these people are destroyed by mere suspicion.
Apart from the harm that it can bring to individuals and public figures, allowing the unrestricted freedom of media would also affect the state when the media publishes something that is detrimental towards the welfare or reputation of the state.
So that evil man Edward Snowden.
And that Communist Publication The Guardian.
And what about the effects of pornography and violent images on children?
Baron et al:
If we forget Snowden and think of the EDL:
Should they be proscribed from publishing their, oft considered, obnoxious views?
Liberals tend to press argument of free speech, arguing that however reprehensible they are, they should be defeated through debate, just like any other opinion or political current.
Progressives, in contrast, tend to argue that their views are not a political current like any other and should not be treated as such. EDL and such can be considered to be trying to destroy every vestige of democracy and have no misgivings about using non democratic means to get their way.
Mere words are not enough to defeat them – they may also need to be excluded from public space.
The end results of not doing are the suspension of all democratic rights and expunging every trace of opposition, protest or criticism.
Liberal common sense tells us that democracy is a matter of exchanging views and critical reason. That is true – but there’s a lot more to it than that.
One cannot rationally “debate” with those who systematically obfuscate their real aims and views, nor can one “debate” those who use intimidation against those they oppose.
There are more issues than Security of the Nation that require restraint on publication
Fergus,
Liberals
A person who favours a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties.
Progressives
A person who favours a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties.
Fergus where is the contrast?
Definition of Progressives.
Liberal, one who supports political reform; one who supports advancement, one who advocates improvement and change.
Definition of Liberal
One favours political and social reform, one who supports a progressive political philosophy; member of a liberal political party.
Progressives:
Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods.
Liberals:
Bleeding hearts who have a total inability to make decisions.
Let’s cut the crap Fergus/Telemachus. Progressives, so-called, are socialists and anti-conservatives by their nature. They are the enemy.
Malfleur @ 23:52
Quite, Malfleur, and when did you hear Baron objecting to the cry of ‘WOLF’ by anyone who comes across a physical or legal person, e.g. an agency of the State, in breach of the law? Care to point one single instance? Either here, any other blog?
What the blue veined barbarian likes not is someone who having discovered a criminal disregard for the law in his own patch runs to another patch controlled by an even nastier canine, sits their in comfort, shouts: ‘Hey, you over there, be careful, a nasty wolf’s after you’.
Peter
Whether crap or not, I am not the Communist Telemachus.
Even though I enjoy some of his writings.
Progressives are neither Socialists not Communists.
Progressive Conservativism(Patrick Dunleavy, Paul Joseph Kelly, Michael Moran. British Political Science: Fifty Years of Political Studies. Oxford, England, UK; Malden, Massachusetts, USA: Wiley-Blackwell, 2000. Pp. 107-108)is the ideology of Disraeli and incorporates moderate progressive ideas alongside conservative principles. It is supportive of capitalist society but stresses the importance of government regulation in the interests of all citizens.
It has been very successful in Canada.
Fergus Pickering @ 09:02
Is it your poetic streak that prevents you from taking in what others say?
The Lord Kenyon utterance speaks volumes about how things were done in the past, the past the progressives dislike so much, think it’s old fashioned, cumbersome, not worth keeping.
(sorrry, Fergus, Baron has to go, will come back)
It’s all this Global Warming that is causing so much ice to accumulate in the Southern Hemisphere’s Summer:
Thick ice thwarts efforts to rescue ship trapped in Antarctic
Chinese icebreaker unable to reach Russian vessel stranded in packed ice since Tuesday; Australian ship to reach area on Sunday
“A group of tourists and scientists remain trapped aboard a ship off the coast of Antarctica on Saturday after watching a rescue vessel appear on the horizon only to grind to a halt in heavy ice.
The MV Akademik Shokalskiy has been stuck in a desolate stretch of sea ice since a heavy blizzard on Christmas Eve.
The passengers and 20-odd Russian crew members now remain in an icy limbo.
They are hoping a third rescue vessel, Aurora Australis, an Australian resupply ship, will be able to break through the ice. It is due to arrive on Sunday.”

The Arctic has also been accumulating snow and ice, in a very non-PC manner:
“Global warming hysterics at the BBC warned us in 2007 that by summer 2013, the Arctic would be ice-free. As with so many other doomsday predictions by warmists, the results turn out to be quite the opposite. The UK Daily Mail reports:
A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 29 per cent.”

Fergus Pickering @ 09:02 continued:
A newspaper publishes a lie, harm’s done, the injured party takes the editor to court (on legal aid if necessary), a judge or a jury adjudicate, the guilty party is fined, or imprisoned if it happens often, the victim compensated . If the fine was substantial the editor would soon get the message, or the paper would fold up.
This is what the good Lord Kenyon says, the freedom to publish whatever the editor wants to publish (hoping that it wasn’t blameable) has served us well for centuries, why change it to appease the politicians, who have more than vested interest in silencing the press, and please a bunch of third rate celebrities who shag around often, as it turns out, underage kids?
What’s wrong with that, Fergus. Isn’t it better than a piece of parchment defining vaguely what a paper or anyone else can or cannot publish?
When the British press was at its most scandalous, reckless, gossiping, odious, often disreputable, but also courageous, tenacious, gutsy and adventurous, Britain was the freest country in the world. Why muffle it now, ha?

Baron, I’m sick of rotten, expensive toasters that turn out either charred hard black tiles, called toast, or else soggy, white mushy imitations of that great creation real toast! As a child, we toasted before the open fire with a large fork, sometimes burning ourselves, but who cared, without the palaver of today’s, wimpish regulations. There are also, the chip fryers which only use a spoonful of oil, and the chips taste nothing like the tasty offerings my mum made in an old frying pan. Then there are the hi-tech coffee makers which produce cold, bland boring muck, shall I go on?………

Hi, is it a good one?
Baron – 18:16 “The lack of the bagel setting on a toaster”
It explains why, in our local Waitrose store, there are bagels being sold cheaply – because they are nearing their sell by date. People are not buying them soon enough!
And, for the first time in many decades, we used our fire to perform the toasting! It is a gas fire with the gas rising through black ceramic ‘coals’. It works surprisingly well.
I would rather have a bad toaster, but good bread. Here, it’s the other way around.
Furthermore…I went into a children’s store on Christmas Eve and couldn’t find a single cap gun, potato fun, water pistol, air gun, bow and arrow, belt with dummy bullets, bowie knife or a Red Indian head dress or cowboy hat.
Not even a heavily- armed golliwog.
What’s the world coming to?
Ms. Paglia has some ideas:

Progressives – all the defining and justifying means nought, the original term, like so many, has been stolen and twisted by the leftie PC mob. Progressives are the shit that has tainted society, stained thoughts and obscured morals.
For me bagels are over rated; I can take them or leave them, my beloved dislikes them intensely.
But then I am spoilt, my wife bakes bread two or three times a week and it does make such wonderful toast, with Wilkin & Son’s “Tiptree” Orange marmalade there is nothing finer.
As a ‘by the bye’ if any of you are bread makers both Sainsbury’s and Waitrose sell 100% Canadian Strong Bread Flower it makes a huge difference, well worth the extra cost.

If you were in London, wondered towards Southall you would have found all the gear that’s missing on the shelves of shops where you live. The Muslim shops stock an abundance of it, and more, at rock bottom prices. What do you make of it?

The offer was very kind; but I did not have sufficient time to take you up on it. Instead, I gave her a construction set of Westminster Abbey, made in China, which went down better than the dress.
Are you talking about toy guns or bread – in Southall? I miss the good English bread which was beginning to appear in England about the time I left in 1985. Now if you could send me some of that – and have it arrive still fresh…!

Barons link to the Alexander Boot piece where he is objecting to Children’s Commissioner for England Maggie Atkinson’s wish to bring in a new law to ban the smacking of children, gave me pause for thought.
Let me first make clear I am in the smacking camp, we found in bringing up our three that when needed the occasional tap or slap had many benefits both to the child and to us as parents.
These include the fact that a slap judicially applied at the beginning of a temper tantrum would stop this in its tracks, it concentrates the child’s thinking in what is and what is not the way to behave.
We never used a slap to punish something past, only immediately at the time and scene of the misbehaviour.
What I have observed; these days’ mothers and fathers go much further than non-smacking, they allow their offspring to run-riot in stores and supermarkets, infants in pushchairs can and do scream their heads of, or else allow small children to vent their temper tantrums for all to hear, all this without any comment or censure from the adult.
I make a point of speaking to the screaming child, never to the parent, a pleasant non-threatening ‘what’s all that noise then’ or ‘oh dear are you being ignored’ (thereby criticising the parent) has a magic effect, in every case the screaming/temper tantrum stops immediately.
Many of these parents who lack any control over their offspring are the same ones who you can hear asking a three year old child ‘what do you want for dinner?’.

Yes, hard to find good bagels. When I was a student nurse at the old`London Hospital in the East End, I bought them. Now, alas, hardly any Jewish bakers around, I loved the ones down Petticoat Lane, but it’s all packaged goods these days.
Correction: I was at the London Jewish Hospital in Stepney Green and bought bagels in the Lane from a dear old lady who had them on a broom stick!
Clear Memories and David Ossitt
The Canadian Progressives (Parti Progressiste-Conservateur du Canada) are far from Socialist, PC or any other leftist epithet.
The Progressive Conservative Party, now merged, in fact contained various shades of opinion, and its policies were generally determined by local issues and practical need rather than by ideology. In general, however, the party favoured less government intervention in both the economy and social affairs. Strongly federalist, it also generally was less accommodating to Quebec separatists.
And anything that thwarts any French influence in the world is to be praised.
In my youth Leeds had umpteen kosher bakeries and on many a late night walk home in the early hours I would stop off and by warm bread-rolls, delicious if I was particularly hungry and had the money I would buy a sweet loaf I think it was called a Battenberg though I may be wrong.
Unfortunately the last Leeds kosher bakery, Chalutz, closed early in 2010 but fortunately a new bakery Gelman’s operating under Leeds Beth Din supervision, opened later that year.
Might have been called a Bismarck.

Not a word Baron would disagree with, David, the controlling loonies seem to go after the parents who slap, miss those who cause serious harm, kill. That’s the way of the world today, hit the easy target, feel good, never mind the outcome, unruly, feral children causing distress to helpless parents, those close to them. Often the misbehaviour is doped with spitefulness, something the barbarian is unable to deal with. Fortunately, most of the kids turn up law abiding when they grow up, but a minority doesn’t make it, does drugs, turns to crime, ends up in prison.

I think Nigel Farage has lost his marbles. The bulk of his supporters do not wish for yet another bleeding heart, they want somebody who will guard the rights of the British and defend them. What with moslem fanatics, Pakistanis practicing FGM and pimping white girls, and a flood of Romas and Bulgarians already clamouring at the gates, do we need war-crazed Syrians too? None of the Arab countries have offered to receive them, so why should we? The Syrians are some of the most vicious people around. Prior to 1967 they controlled the Golan Heights, pouring death down on Israeli kibbutzim daily, and nobody in the West would say boo to them! Now, we can see how they treat their fellow Syrians, so one can easily imagine how they would treat us? With all the aliens arriving daily here, has Nigel really gone soft in the head?

Peter from Maidstone
December 29th, 2013 – 20:35
Agree. But it’s almost impossible for a Syrian Christian to safely request permission to leave. They are hated, but denied the right to go. Like the situation of German Jews in the Thirties. I cannot believe Farage is so naive. It is truly frightening, when soem of us thought he was the one decent politician in a nest of vipers.
Anne, I’m thinking of those already outside Syria as refugees. Generally Syrian Christians want to go home when they can. Many of those who fled Turkey due to persecution have now returned as Turkey tries to adopt a tolerant attitude as part of its EU application.

Turkey, apart from a worrying fanatical Moslem Brotherhood, has generally been a tolerant and civilised country. It proved itself as a haven or asylum for those fleeing the Nazis. I truly emphasise with the Christian refugees, and pray 2014 will be a better year than this has been.
Turkey has systematically sought to eliminate its Christian minorities. The Syrian community has particularly suffered, but the Greeks and Armenians face continuing repression. When I visited for the enthronement of the Armenian Patriarch I found it a dark place.

He was quite explicit; he is still in favour of closing our doors to economic migrants and the silly willy-nilly legal system that allows miscreants and others to stay by using the European Court of Human Rights potty diktats.
But he clearly said “all western countries should take their share of those seeking sanctuary” in truth I do not think that he gives a tinkers curse about those who are fleeing Syria.
I believe he is looking forward to and planning for the pre-General Election party leaders debates that the BBC should be included him in, if as we all suspect he has a massive win in the European elections in May
It will take the sting out of the other three’s accusations of him being a little Englander.
By the bye everyone that I ask say that they will vote UKIP in May or else abstain.

“Well, I’m glad we got rid of THESE people”
Why are you glad?
These photographs show our past, I was living when some were taken, this was England.

“Unfortunately it is much easier for preachers of hatred to claim asylum.”
To true, and once here it can take years if at all to get rid of them.
David, I think that Malfleur was speaking ironically.

“It is truly frightening, when some of us thought he was the one decent politician in a nest of vipers.”
Anne please do not write him off too soon, he is decent but he is a politician and his main aim is to win.

“David, I think that Malfleur was speaking ironically.”
Silly me.
