I have today received my HM Revenue & Customs PAYE Coding Notice of my Tax Code for the year 2015-16.
It is wrong, just as it was wrong last year and also the five six or seven previous years.
They need to set a Tax Code Number so that the provider of my two personal pensions can tax these taking into account my state pensions payments.
Each year they estimate my income to be £2,700 more than it actually will be, because they incorrectly assume that my private pensions will rise each year and they do not, they will stay at the same rate every year.
I have tried three times today to speak to someone, first call 8 minutes second 13 minutes and the last one about 7 minutes.
Each call begins the same a recorded voice thanking me for calling, this soon passes me on to another recorded voice that asks umpteen silly questions (it is about this time that I lose the will to live) then the dreadful music starts, this is interspersed with the a mechanical voice telling me that I will be answered shortly.
On my last call I told a couple of lies, when asked are you ringing for yourself I said NO, when asked are you an agent I said Yes, in the belief that accountants etcetera might get I quicker service.
Obviously I was wrong.

All through The Troubles in N.Ireland and after every atrocity since, we always hear the lines “We won’t let this derail the peace process”, or “We mustn’t let this change our way of life”. Try telling that to the poor people blown to pieces.
Cameron and all the political elite (since when did absolute scum come to be termed elite?) should enjoy no extra security or protection. If there’s a risk to anyone in the country it should be faced by all. They’re the ones who have wilfully created a powder keg and if anything they should be the ones to draw the fire. We expect rats to behave as you describe but Cameron and his masters go about their vile work without declaring themselves. Dissembling and deceiving.
Absolute filth.
“Max Fisher tweeted, “people who think Christian sectarian militias are the solution to Iraq’s problems could stand to read a history of the Lebanese civil war.” I did, and the history of the Lebanese civil war reports that the Christian communities survived. That’s probably not what Fisher meant with the phrase “solution to Iraq’s problems” but survival is no mean feat. Militias aren’t usually formed to do good or noble things. They largely exist to maximize the chances that their members will wake to see tomorrow.”

“Ostrich, I was being polite! 🙂 ”
Fair enough, I was wondering if you were being ironic. But “defaecating” & “urinating” are polite enough words…even peeing and crapping aren’t really impolite, unless you’re in BBC wonderland, where the presenters of Radio Newcastle have an attack of the vapours if either word is used by any of their live callers in the morning.
The policies which have brought Europe, not just the United Kingdom. to the brink of collapse are not some future policy or policies which might or might not be adopted by a UKIP government. They are the policies of the corporate banksters worldwide, including those active in Europe through the EU.
“..the issue in the short-run is the taxpayers in all the countries of the EU…because the debt has been transferred from the banking system — that’s what all these bailouts were about — to the taxpayers of the EU..”
http://kingworldnews.com/former-white-house-official-greek-crisis-threatening-entire-global-financial-system/
So the corporate banksters, using their control of state machinery, having incurred grossly irresponsible debts, then shucked off those obligations on to the people and are now preparing to loot the assets of the countries they have impoverished.
They have sown the storm and in our country, through the agency of propaganda units such as Channel 4, may now be setting up UKIP to reap the whirlwind under the rubric “Mr. Farage’s Right-wing policies”.
The road to halal is paved with good intentions.

The lamps are going out all over the United States; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.
“…Today the internet is the only free press we have, all that stands against total control of information. Consider how relentlessly the media impose political correctness, how the slightest offense to the protected groups—we all know who they are—or to sacred policies leads to firing of reporters and groveling by politicians. The wars are buried and serious criticism of Washington suppressed. That leaves the net, only the net, without which we would know nothing.
Which is why it must be and will be censored, sooner if Washington can get away with it and later if not. The tactics are predictable. First, “hate speech” will be banned. The government will tell us whom we can hate and whom we cannot. “Hatred” will be vaguely defined so that one will never be sure when one is engaging in it and, since it will be prosecutable, one will have to be very careful. Disapproval of favored groups, or of their behavior, will be defined as hatred. National security will be invoked, silencing whistle-blowers or, eventually, anything that might make the public uneasy with Washington’s wars.
The next step probably will be to block links to foreign sites deemed to transgress. China is good at this. The most likely avenue will be executive orders of increasingly Draconian nature, about which Congress and the Dead—the Supreme Court, I meant to say—will do nothing.
At that point, coming soon to a theater near you, the United States as it was intended to be, and to an extent was, will be over. Our increasingly characterless young, raised to ignorance and Appropriate Thought by government schools, will question nothing. They will have no way of knowing that there is anything to question.
I suppose it can be debated whether the current enstupidation of the rising generations is deliberate or merely the consequence of a return to peasantry inescapable in a democracy. The petulance and immaturity running through so much of society may be inevitable in a spoiled people who have never had to do anything and have never been told “no.” Certainly things today resemble the end games of other once-dominant cultures.
Mental darkness facilitates authoritarianism, and darkness we have. Many college graduates can barely read. Their ignorance of history, politics, and geography (and practically everything else) is profound, and they see no reason why they should know anything. They seem not to suspect that there might be things worth knowing.
I am hard pressed to think of a society in such internal decline that has turned itself around, and I cannot imagine how ours might do so. One sure thing is that, once the internet is gelded, there will be no hope at all. And the assault has begun…..”

Not sufficient with constantly interfering with family life (or what is left of it), the present government follows the ethos of the Labour party and forces its corrupt edicts upon us. Now they speak of instructing young school children in sexual matters. This they say, to protect them! They want to inform them about porn, and other abnormalities. Instead of teaching, if they must, about the sanctity of marriage, between man and woman, and the loving relationship within a real family, they will no doubt whine on about same sex partnerships, and the way animals mate, trying to show that human beings are biologically akin to the beasts. I am glad I have no young children, if I did I would tutor them at home.
AWK – 18:47
They will be able to talk about marriage, and it won’t be about ‘normal’ marriage at all.
I think children will accumulate contempt for adults, and for teachers in particular! Many will know a cul-de-sac when they see one.
What I think is even more damaging is this:
All children should receive weekly ‘happiness’ lessons from the age of five
Major new report says every child in Britain should receive a weekly lesson in how to be happy, and schools should stop acting as ‘exam factories’
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/11412446/All-children-should-receive-weekly-happiness-lessons-from-the-age-of-five.html
Their arrogance will be their downfall, hopefully. We are getting more like North Korea every day.
I enjoyed going to Sunday School when I was young, and it was the ‘loving indifference’ that I found most helpful. The teachers were there to help us, instruct us, but did not interfere in my space. That is where many ‘historic incidents’ have occurred.
It is almost but not quite, unbelievable what our arrogant leaders are proposing to do, sex education for toddlers, which of course will be centred around ‘omophobia. I do not think this will wash amongst most parents, if a child of mine was being taught such an aberration I would go down to the school and punch the teachers lights out. The arrogance of these people beggars description, they are very common and serve no purpose whatsoever.
RobertC 19:20
A health warning about that trailed “major new report” that the clowns in Westminster who are supposed to be f*****g Conservatives choose to ignore. (Forgive the language but they make me f*****g angry).
The authors of the report:-
Lord Darzi, an Iraqi Armenian of Irish republican nationality who only arrived in the UK in 1990 and was elevated to the New Labour government and a peerage by Gordon Brown.
Baron Layard, a Labour economist (if that is not an oxymoron) at the LSE and Labour life peer also elevated under the occupying New Labour regime. Privileged background, educated at Eton and Cambridge. He advocated many of the policies which characterised the New Labour government which immediately makes him highly suspect.
So two unelected stalwarts of New Labour’s werewolf stay behind parties and shadow government, permitted to continue peddling their snake oil. No doubt both imbued with a common purpose too.
“The study by Prof Lord Darzi, a former Health Minister, and Prof Lord Layard, an economist and former Government advisor, calls for sweeping changes in the education of all children, so that “life skills” are given the same attention as reading and writing.”
Yes, that’s right, you pair of New Labour wallies, advocate the reinforcement of failure. I mean it’s not as if the abandonment of reading and writing skills in favour of “life skills” (pass the sick bag) has not been undermining the education system for decades.
Children might be happier if their schools were not groaning under the weight of PC-obsessed lefty teachers, Ofsted “inspectors” and propagandists who want to explore whether they are comfortable in their bodies and understand what lesbians are.

Meanwhile, as Alex Jones has been telling anyone who has been able to drag himself away from the dinosaur media over the past year for long enough to listen to the truth, ISIS is Al Qaeda redivivus and the creation of the globalists, in particular the West led by the USA.
Those who react to the name ‘Alex Jones’ with a stock response, might like to try an alternative brand of the same serum:
“Former CIA contractor Steven Kelley has said on record that ISIS/ISIL are a fabricated terrorist group made and funded by the CIA in the United States. “This is a completely fabricated enemy,” he said…“The funding is completely from the United States and its allies and for people to think that this enemy is something that needs to be attacked in Syria or Iraq is a farce because obviously this is something that we create it, we control and only now it has become inconvenient for us to attack this group as a legitimate enemy,” Kelley added.

I too am effing angry. This is the implementation of the hardest of hard left policies designed to remove children at the earliest stage from the influence, guidance and love of their parents. If only children were actually able to read and write but after 12 or 14 years of full-time education not even this is achieved. And that’s in schools were English is the predominant language.
So Ofsted ask children questions which should put their inspectors in jail. Social services act as pimps for children in their care (sic or should that be sick?). Over 200,000 children are on local authority blacklists without parental knowledge for breaching the PC consensus on gay rights or race issues etc..
How has the abuse of children and family by the State, like immigration and all the other abuses of our freedom, accelerated so quickly and been enshrined in tyrannical laws without a word of objection from a single MP or think tank or newspaper. How have so many been bought or bribed or blackmailed? How do we get out of this?

“Islamic State militants are planning a takeover of Libya as a “gateway” to wage war across the whole of southern Europe, letters written by the group’s supporters have revealed.
The jihadists hope to flood the north African state with militiamen from Syria and Iraq, who will then sail across the Mediterranean posing as migrants on people trafficking vessels, according to plans seen by Quilliam, the British anti-extremist group.
The fighters would then run amok in southern European cities and also try to attack maritime shipping.

I’m standing in a field in winter sunshine on the Essex Suffolk border, the river is behind me so I’m just in suffolk. To my left over the field I can see a church spire and the village pub.( a thriving pub I’m pleased to say).
Between the pub and the church is a village not changed a lot in my lifetime,
Behind me over the river is fine agricultural land as far as you can see,
As I look to my right in the distance I can see on top of a hill another church spire and though I can’t see them from here because of the trees there are two of the best local pubs in that village that serve top quality food at reasonable prices.
Again happily both thriving.

Apropos the comparison with Napoleon and Hitler both made the mistake of waging war on multiple fronts, whereas the Sunni Muslim Islamic State are attempting to fight all-over the place and saying that the Sunni are spreading themselves very thin. Yes indeed, but so what?
I agree that the Sunni are spreading themselves very thin – but is not their war on us very different from what we call conventional war?
In particular, neither Hitler nor Napoleon (nor the Japanese in WW2) relied on large-scale infiltration into the populations against which their war was directed.
From the Sunni perspective, being very thin on the ground is (it seems to me) a great advantage because it makes it extremely difficult for us to counter using the methods of conventional war.
Churchill once wrote that the only thing that protected us from being over-run and subjugated by Muslims was our possessing superior weapons provided by modern science – which, then, meant mainly gunboats and plentiful supplies of rifles and artillery.
We continue to possess superior weapons – e.g. nuclear bombs, very accurate guided missiles, drones and so on, but there are three factors that now make our situation much more dire. The first is that our politicians, Establishment and much of our own population are very unwilling indeed to use them (nuclear weapons in particular); the second is that modern weapons of that sort are of very little use against the presence of infiltrators; and the third and most frightening factor of all is that our politicians, Establishment and much of the rest of our populations are completely unwilling to deport the infiltrators.
I saw a flag hanging from an official window in Kensington. It was red, white, blue and green. I was afraid it was the Union Jack for the Bradford or Tower Hamlets areas. I was relieved to find on Google that it is the Flag_of_Azerbaijan!

The left over the last fifty years have done a marvellous job of twisting things around to make the truth unsayable.
But the fact remains that you don’t defeat your enemy by being nice to him with hearts and minds, that hasent worked anywhere it’s been tried.
You defeat an enemy by overwhelming power.
And when an enemy is totally defeated he then becomes reasonable as long as you keep control of him.

I am of course (somewhat) encouraged to see what Egypt and Jordan are doing, but I’m not encouraged by your description of Turkey as ‘secular’.
Turkey certainly was secular under Kemal Atatturk, and continued to be secular for some decades after that, thanks to the Turkish Military.
Now however, Turkey has an activist Muslim President, who is clearly emasculating the Turkish military and making steady progress towards extinguishing secularism in Turkey.
I don’t see much likelihood of Israel being able to do much to counter the enormous threat posed to Europe and the west in general by the Islamic State (or ISIS or ISIL or whatever it’s called). I think Israel’s priorities have to be concentrated on its vicious enemies right on their own border in the Gaza strip.
Even bearing in mind that Israel has some common interests with Jordan and Egypt both of those seem to me to be somewhat ramshackle allies.
Since we are going back to 1945 on the historic sexual abuse investigatons why don’t we do the same for historic hate crimes.
It’s so important nowadays we can’t let that rest.
Let’s go back to 1939 and start investigating anyone who said anything derogatory about hitler or the Germans in general.
Let’s see the BBC cover a raid on Churchills old house and watch the black plastic bin liners full of evidence (allegedly)

A propos, the White House and our own administration seem to be conducting a campaign broadly against “extremists”. Could this be a coincidence or more evidence of further pernicious coordination? I load my question. The late Libyan leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, predicted that Islam would conquer Europe without even firing a shot. To understand and explain the fate awaiting Europe, it is necessary to listen seriously to what the upper echelons of Islam say to each about their own intentions — in Arabic. These messages are quite different from those on Western television. What they say to one another is that the mission of Islam is to lead the whole world and eradicate all other religions, as they have been made irrelevant by the Qur’an.
Their doctrine appears openly and without reservation in books and on websites. It is spread in local languages in mosques by the imams in their communities throughout Europe. These communities operate according to an ancient Islamic code: They command immigration; then the forming of enclaves in the host country, then the eventual violent takeover of the host.

Comment on guido asks why labour get such a wedge.
Evidently this is ‘short money’ given to the opposition.
It amazing how these muppets think up ways to spend our money.
On the 4th of this month I telephoned BT because my telephone and broadband bill looked to be too high, a delightful young woman had a check and said my costs would be much less if I switched to a different package and if I cancelled my ‘choose to refuse’ feature (I only use this to bar one person from calling us).
I received a confirming letter telling that the new plan had gone live on the 5th of this month.
Last night we received a call from the person who we have previously barred.
And so today I have attempted to reinstate the ‘choose to refuse’ going on the web I found the number to ring, however as usual an automatic voice asked me why I wished to speak to someone, I said choose to refuse, the automatic voice said you have already got it.
I found a different number to ring BT and after a short while got through to a real person, I then had to go through the whole rigmarole again, she then said that she needed to speak to her supervisor, after a five minuet delay she returned and proceeded to speak at great speed explain what my new package would cost, when I intervened and said slow down what new package, she took umbrage and spoke as though I was a simpleton telling me that to get what I want will require a new package, all the while telling her computer to speed up, I suggested that I should phone another day but she said we will be ok in a minute but shortly after said I will ring you back.
That was half an hour ago and she has not phoned back, so I can’t make a call to the revenue until she does.
She has phoned back and I capitulated and allowed her to complete the whole bloody mantra that is written as a script that she has to stick to.

stake in the future
As I see it next May, the only combination that will ensure that is a Labour/SNP Coalition
There is of course a serious point
Ever since the re-emergence of the Anglo Saxons as the prime force in our Nation with the victory over the Scandinavians and emphasised by the co-sharing of power with Normandy and subsequently the Aristocracy of Anjou we have seen the roots of power in this land concentrated in the South of England
And under the Tudors and subsequently Stewarts concentrated in a small area of the South East where local aristocrats have had a disproportionate influence on those who wield power
For a short while in the nineteenth century the economic might generated by the industrial revolution allowed some influence of the North and particularly the Mancunians you acknowledge
Latterly we have seen the power emanate from only the South East and those who live there exert undue influence by whispering in the ear
Your flawed hero would take things one worse creating a hegemony of Essex and Kent
We need to get back to a balanced United Kingdom where those north of the line from the Dee to North Forland have a

EC February 20th, 2015 – 12:28
It does! But that is no reason to extend it. Really, telemachus is making the same point as you but describing the London Metropolitan Bubble as the “Home Counties” to bolster his silly prejudice about shotguns and black labradors and limiting the “rest of UK” to his mythic “north” and/or Manchester, whose enormous populations he pretends to speak for. In reality his prejudice is rooted in Anglophobia, probably because he is really Greek as has been suggested (he whizzed off to Greece when the commies took over, ostensibly to see his “in laws”).
His comments here are just provocative window dressing. The real Labour agenda, which of course as a tribalist be buys totally into, is to regionalise and urbanise England to establish a socialist hegemony based on the dominance of carefully selected Labour controlled cities. This will become even more essential if coalition with the SNP becomes a reality. Clinging to power in those circumstances will be dependent on obstructing the slightest move towards proper English democratic representation. That this is a long game was evidenced by the immediate regurgitation of the failed Prescott model as soon as EVEL was raised. Even before any debate they started pushing their preferred “solution”.
Because of the constituency imbalance socialist hegemony in the UK if not England is already almost a de facto reality, but their current nefarious plans would virtually create a single party state. In 2010 the Conservatives won 7% more of the votes than Labour but gained only 49 more seats. In 2005 Labour won less than 3% of the votes than the Conservatives but gained 139 more seats, more than three times as many for far less than half the votes. Scottish nationalists bleat about Scotland not voting for Tory government but the same is true for England and Labour government.
To lay the ground work for their agenda (which is of course supported by the EU) the socialists need to continue to stir up regional grievances, emphasise that the north is not really part of England, incite the same degree of anti-Thatcher militancy as there is in Scotland and bleat about regional “devolution”. This is to de-legitimise the Tory party. Regional “devolution” will be no more than establishing the same incestuous web of “progressive” unelected socialist “leaders” networking, arse covering and leading beyond their authority that proved so successful in Rotherham.
telemachus, like all the other Labour loons wedded to winning by any means but mainly through the means of propaganda and lies, believes that repeating the same tripe again and again will root it in the public consciousness. Thus we are constantly and tediously regaled with Andy Capp homilies about the north and the use of the term “Home Counties” as a pejorative, rooted in some vaguely late 19th Century caricature of class war. Really, only a marxist foreigner could peddle that sort of tripe and expect people to believe it.

Among the deceits being practised at this election, we have already discussed here the stong likelihood of a LabCon coalition so that when the economy implodes they can both say: it was global, not us.
A Telegraph reader today highlights another one I have heard floated:
The campaign for the election, standing with the Union Jack in the background, is not credible. David Cameron fundamentally believes that Britain should not be a self governing nation, but that it should be ruled by a dictatorship in Brussels.
And he almost destroyed the UK as a country, which was his intention. Then he has the nerve to stand in front of The Union Jack as a campaign trick.
He would probably campaign with a stuffed turkey on his head if the spin doctors told him it would get him past the finish line in May.
And, another thing. He is just the face to get the Tories over the finishing line, and he will step aside soon after, thereby not having to honour any of his pledges, referendums and all that nonsense. He will probably be succeeded by Boris – and the public will just have to lump it.

People who frequent forums like this and in the Comments section of the Torygraph are often dismissed as fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists (notice how that quote has disappeared from the MSM now there’s an election on – no one will challenge Dave about it in their interviews with him, it’s how the MSM protects him by not reminding him of certain things).
This, though, was the view of Time magazine (a bien pensant, mainly American audience Dave panders to) on June 3 2013. That is less than two years ago. Click on the two very short links to see what Cameron really thinks of the EU:
The infamous front cover (it looks even better if you place this front cover beside the front covers of British newspapers from spring/summer 2013 where Dave promises re-negotiation and a better deal):
The Good European
http://content.time.com/time/covers/europe/0,16641,20130603,00.html
And then the precis of the content of that front cover (it’s behind a paywall and I’m not paying for bien pensant propaganda when the Mail and Telegraph dish it out in such spades; I don’t need to pay to be insulted):
Cameron’s Gamble (Profile)
Britain’s Prime Minister is fighting to keep his country in Europe. It may cost him his political life
http://content.time.com/time/magazine/europe/0,9263,901130603,00.html
So when the MSM thinks you’re not listening, it will tell the truth, especially to a politically correct globalist audience.
David Cameron has always staked his political life on forcing Britain to stay in the EU. Same as it ever was.

Quite right, telemachus, it should only concern us if or when they get back having aided those we’re in war with, it’s only then we should hit them hard, send them down to contemplate the error of their judgement for years.
Another comment from that Telegraph article, which rings true to me on this basis. I know I only know a small handful of people in Britain but they are all voting UKIP, and they don’t seem to know anyone who’s voting Tory.
Unless they are retired, though, none of them are open UKIP voters. If they are in work, they do not tell their colleagues they will vote UKIP and they would not put a UKIP poster in their window.
The problem is, as Julia Middleton will gleefully tell you, that if you hold those sorts of views, you’ll be excluded from the ‘leadership’ roles in which people like her and Dave and Ed and Nick and all th rest of them can do so much social engineering.
Here’s the quote:
PurpleRinse
If asked by a pollster, on the phone – who knows who I am – ‘who will you vote for?’ – I will not answer ‘UKIP’. Talking about political matters with people who I know are members of the ‘holier than thou’, ‘politically correct gone mad’, ‘if you are against further immigration you are, by definition a racist’ brigade – I keep my counsel – I can’t be bothered debating with people with small, closed minds.
That chap who spoke to Miliband the other day said something like ‘talking in the canteen, everyone’s going to vote UKIP …’ – I do wonder if we might wake up on May 8th to a big surprise – with half the working class voting UKIP as they finally realise Labour doesn’t give a toss about them.
Cameron said something like ‘we’ll get immigration down to the tens of thousands – if we don’t, vote me out’. The most recent figures show well over half a million came here in one year. It will be my pleasure to vote him out.

Back in the UK, at least we have to undergo quite rigorous and expensive training AND pass a test and have compulsory insurance. Pedal cyclists on the other hand…
Despite the difficulty in obtaining a motorcycle licence there are still large numbers of dangerous riders out there on powerful bikes. Vintage Frederick Forsyth:
Losing the British sense of fair play
By Frederick Forsyth
THERE is a sense of genuine mystification in the heart of the Establishment of this country.
The puzzle is: why are we so utterly discredited in the eyes of the people? The answer is staring them in the face. Apart from the very small proportion who spend their whole lives whingeing and complaining about the slightest thing that goes wrong, the British actually ask for very little.
But there is one word that is dye-stamped into the British mass psyche. That word is “fair,” or its larger cousin “fair play”. Now there’s an oddity here. That single phrase is understood by the British with total and immediate clarity.
Yet it exists in no other European language. In French for example “jeu juste” (literally fair play) is utterly meaningless.
So in German “aufrechte Spiel” would leave them staring at you in complete bewilderment. The reason is childishly simple. The phrase doesn’t exist because the concept doesn’t exist.
But go past a school playground in this country and you’ll hear some shaver knee-high to a grasshopper yelling in protest: “Ere, you can’t do that. It ain’t fair.” He doesn’t know Latin or Greek but he instinctively knows what is fair and what is not.
The reason why the Establishment is broadly loathed today is that it treats us with complete unfairness. Maybe it was always so, but now in the digital, online, internet world, we know. Take justice; sin and retribution, criminality and punishment.
There are two quite different systems; one for them and one for us. If a truck driver, working class of course, by stupidity or recklessness rolls over his truck and wrecks both vehicle and cargo, there is no mercy.
He will be charged and convicted. Licence gone, livelihood gone, on the rubbish tip of life. If a shopkeeper, middle class, fiddles the books; if his brother defrauds the Social Security; if his wife goes shoplifting, there is no charity from the authorities.
This is theft and this is punishable as theft. But if a banker by insane risk-taking, by negligence and greed, ruins a major bank there is no retribution. The bank is deemed “too big to fail” and billions of our money will have to bail it out of its unnecessary debts.
And those responsible? No problem, old boy. Just retire with mega-salary, pay-off bonus, eyewatering pension pot. But the inside of a court room? You must be joking. Politicians, senior civil servants, top lawyers – all have a very small chance of ever being held to account for gross negligence, peculation or fraud.
But bankers appear to be completely immune from British law. Over the years they have insanely gambled with depositor money, skimmed savings accounts, mis-sold pensions, cheated, stolen, lied and connived to enrich themselves by rigging lending rates, foreign exchange rates and LIBOR rates. They have been bailed out and gone back to same fraudulent practises.
Now it is revealed one of the giants HSBC has enabled and assisted fat cats to squirrel money abroad and cheat the tax man. We none of us like taxes but we know they are necessary to run a country and have to be paid. Unless you are perched at the top of a bank.
Then you just grab and grab and grab until you are a multi-millionaire. And the depositors who worked long and hard? Stupid sheep ready to be shorn. Now here’s a good question for a TV quiz.
How many have ever gripped the brass rail of a dock in a court of law. Or ever will? To my recall…..not one. So if any erminerobed peer asks why he is not admired and respected, that’s the answer.
The way this country is run is grossly unfair.

The Spectator let this paragraph through the other day from Douglas Murray. I am always more suspicious of Murray and Hitchens than the other writers because I know my views align with theirs more than any other writers. They are are there to act as shock absorbers for the masses and prevent us doing anything rash at the ballot box. They are there, in essence, to guide readers. They are there to hold onto the mainstream readership who so detest the rest of the magazine or so detest the rest of the newspaper.
This is a truism we do not speak enough about:
“For the time being we are all meant to say how racist it would be to talk about immigration restrictions, and so countries like Sweden continue to commit a form of cultural suicide. And soon it becomes totally normal to point out to Europe’s remaining Jews and free speech advocates that they are kind of out numbered these days, aren’t they. The answer to which is yes, they are. And are likely to remain so. And what happens after that?”

We all know what happens elsewhere in the world where non-Muslims become a minority.
It’s not enough to worry about a culture clash. These people need to live in Muslim lands. Because, in the long run, it’s us or them.
This re-defining of words that offend the paedo Prophet and his followers as an ‘act of violence’ (words as actions, not as thoughts) – which is what will happen after the General Election – is wicked and genocidal against non-Muslims. And it is intended that way.

“…To lay the ground work for their agenda (which is of course supported by the EU) the socialists need to continue to stir up regional grievances, emphasise that the north is not really part of England, incite the same degree of anti-Thatcher militancy as there is in Scotland and bleat about regional “devolution”. This is to de-legitimise the Tory party…”
The Tories have very effectively de-legitimised themselves. And, whilst Labour has sought to promote the long march by the regionalisation of government, Cameron’s post ‘VOW’ promotion of EVEL has set a disastrous course for both Parliamentary sovereignty and the self serving, ideological wreckage of his party’s principles.
Noa, the funniest comment on the Torygraph this week was:
‘Vote this comment up if you don’t give a damn about those three jihadi girls, who are not, by the way, ‘British’ at all’.
The thumbs up were exponential. Why do people vote for governments that will run after murderous spite like that. As Peter Mandelson said, LibLabCon sends out search parties for people like this to activley bring them into Britain. And don’t we know it.
Has Cameron been ‘promoting’ EVEL? Can’t say I’ve noticed. There has been some talk about some kind of non-binding VETO but the last I can recall Cameron talking anything about it was outside No.10 with the vow.
“The report today also makes the case for English votes for English laws unanswerable, and we’ll be taking action on that shortly,” Mr Cameron said. “Taken together, this extra devolution for Scotland and dealing with all the issues in our UK will make our UK stronger…”

Having just finished Peter Ackroyd’s third volume of his history of England, Civil War, I sense that the question can be answered by drawing a parallel with the court of Charles II in the later years of his reign when, as Ackroyd writes, everybody was bribing everyone, and, in particular,Charles II himself who was accepting a pension from Louis XIV in his absolute state in Versailles in return for certain secret understandings as to foreign policy and constitutional law.

Meanwhile, John Kerry, out for a walk with his dog in London, mulls more, tougher sanctions against Russia:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/feb/21/russia-additional-sanctions-john-kerry-london-talks-philip-hammond
How well-prepared were we for “a shooting war” in 1962?
Well, whatever the consequences might have been for the Soviet Union, it seems that had Vasili Arkhipov not exercised his veto London would have been destroyed and East Anglia devastated as a result of Soviet plans for MAD.
Mr. Boot argues that the leopard has not changed his spots, though perhaps those are spots before Mr. Boot’s eyes. However, Germany and France are pulling away from the recklessly aggressive policies of Mr. Kerry and his dog. Mr. Boot may therefore think that the road to London lies open to Russian tanks without a shot needing to be fired.
The two Russian bombers off the coast of Cornwall which forced RAF jets to scramble to intercept them give point to the word of the other UK military man quoted by Mr. Boot: “Air Commodore Andrew Lambert concurs: “If the Russians turned up the heat, we would struggle badly.” ” British understatement.
So why are we standing side by side with Mr. Kerry to ratchet up the crisis? Do we have a secret plan for victory by a sudden strike against Russia now that NATO’s forces are pressed up against her border in breach of the understanding with Gorbachev when Soviet forces pulled out of East Germany??
Or is the appearance of Russian bombers near John Jefferson Burns’ hideaway in Clovelly, Cornwall simply a gesture to concentrate the dog’s mind in contemplation that all might not go as happily as his master might expect?

Tch tch, telemachus, the games you play . . .
Here is the full quote:-
“Labour has typically shied away from EVEL. More precisely it has shied away from thinking about England as a whole as a political unit, as EVEL does.
Labour’s instinct has been to look instead to regionalisation within England, most recently city-region devolution inspired by the example of local authority cooperation in and around Manchester. It has done so in the face of a hefty weight of evidence which shows that:
1. People in England are deeply dissatisfied with the way they are governed currently, not least because they see that Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own explicit institutional recognition since devolution
2. These dissatisfactions do not vary significantly by region – there is an England-wide discontent
3. Regional devolution is the least popular institutional alternative for addressing that discontent
4. Some form of EVEL is – by some way – the most popular alternative.”
What a naughty boy you are to slyly suggest that those things Labour is most against are endorsed by them.
But read the comments to the linked article too. Every single Labour supporter has weighed in with an Anglophobe attitude.
No matter how much you twist and dissemble, telemachus, the fact remains that the Labour agenda is a regionalisation of England for a common purpose.

Islamic ‘radicals’ at the heart of Whitehall
Baroness Warsi gave official roles to people with links to Islamist groups
“Baroness Warsi, the first Muslim woman to sit in Cabinet, handed official posts to people linked to Islamist groups, including a man involved in an “unpleasant and bullying” campaign to win planning permission for the controversial London “megamosque” proposed by a fundamentalist Islamic sect.
He sits – alongside other radicals or former radicals and their allies – on a “cross-Government working group on anti-Muslim hatred” set up by Lady Warsi and Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister.
Some members of the group are using their seats at the table to urge that Whitehall work with Islamist and extremist-linked bodies, including one described by the Prime Minister as a “political front for the Muslim Brotherhood”. Some are also pressing to lift bans on foreign hate preachers from entering Britain, including Zakir Naik, who has stated that “every Muslim should be a terrorist”.”

I find all these Labour-supporting celebrities deeply unpleasant and their allegiance predictable:-
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2963374/Deafening-silence-Labour-luvvies-Stars-came-Brown-Election-Red-Ed.html
The Warsi story reveals the usual internecine smearing and warfare that occurs whenever any group of unelected leftist radicals, subversives and grievance encrusted minority activists are brought together for a “higher purpose”. That is just a microcosm of the sectarianism that has been imported into this country and it is going to get worse.
The more unelected punditry that is convened to “tackle” so-called phobias and impose “solutions” by suppression the more the country will descend into division and sectarianism.
Take one example mentioned. Chris Allen “academic” (13 years old when Thatcher came to power and 24 when she was deposed). Who? Why? Was he elected to pontificate on behalf of anyone or to sit empowered in a decision making body?
No.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Allen_(academic)
The bestowal of “expertise” on this person appears to rest solely on the nomination of a German radio station and a commission from an EU “Agency” in Vienna on the basis of an EU Regulation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Welle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_Rights_Agency
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulation_(European_Union)
The criteria by which Mr Allen was elevated to publicly pontificate in an implied authoritative manner is nowhere transparent or defined. But he is one of thousands of unelected pundits seeking to determine the direction of our country and society, who have been empowered to do so by shadowy organisations through equally shadowy procedures, the incestuous, self sustaining and politically motivated nature of which can only (and easily) be guessed at.
This is, in part, an example of the stupidity towards Islam referred to in previous comments. The British government seems incapable of tackling this problem other than by naively importuning existing tribalisms and vested interests to import their prejudices, feuds and the problem into the supposed solution and thereby exacerbate the whole can of worms.
Where an imposition of ‘no ifs and no buts’ values is required there is instead appeasement, empowerment of the wrong sort and an agenda that seeks to improve by making things worse. The vast silent majority of English society is accused and imposed upon, the resentment stirred, whilst the root of the problem is presumed essentially benevolent and victim. And unelected pundits like Mr Allen get to pontificate and preach through the offices of unelected parvenue “aristocrats” like Warsi.
It is like the police seeking to tackle an epidemic of burglary by convening a council of burglars to pontificate about their grievances and rights to the exclusion of their victims.

One of Steyn’s best, EC, the analogy Beirut-Paris, the quip that history is written by the victors, the current victors being illiterate… priceless.
Malfleur @ 00:21
The bomber story seems scary until one learns these flights have been going on for years, we do it to them, they to us. It’s finding its way into the MSM pages now, the more the better, for a different reason.
Btw, isn’t it weird the press is full of stories about Russia’s readiness to send tanks to the shores of the Atlantic (and beyond), yet no EU state plans a boost in defence spending? Even the Yanks are scheduling a cut. Funny that.
Baron, yes, it is indeed noticeable that defence expenditure is being cut everywhere, when we might expect, for a variety of reasons, to be putting ourselves into a more of a war footing. My guess, a combined EU force will again be proposed as the solution to EU defence needs, and so we end up losing the means to defend ourselves at all and essentially become a nation occupied by an alien military power.
Commie talks of honour, a concept of which he knows as much a Cameron, still, I’m reminded…
“We come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interrèd with their bones.
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious.
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answered it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest—
For Brutus is an honorable man;
So are they all, all honourable men—
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me.
But Brutus says he was ambitious,
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill…”
Their coffers – and the coffins- filled, by these honourable men, from Blair to Brown, Chucka to Cameron, Wilson to Warsi, Gideon to Kinnock.
Some cheering news for the forces of Light (UKIP that is), in the latest Alan Bown polls.
To the questions
Would UKIP supporters still vote UKIp if it means Comrade Ed gains power 53% will vote UKIP regardless.
If UKIP were not standing in their constituency 38% would not vote. 38%! Amazing!
As an evil man once said, in a more sinister context. “They’re not going away, you know!”
Indeed they are not.

And how soon before the Warsi’s and the Khans stop messing with the UK legacy parties and start openly pushing their real agendas?
There’s a clue below… is it 10%, 15%?

EC, that doesn’t seem a fair attack by Breitbart, and I am not an apologist for the CoE. But he gets £43k and the use of a house, most of the rest is travel expenses, and a bishop does need to travel a lot and is usually very busy, and the cost of running an episcopal office. These are necessary costs and are not any sort of personal income.
Peter from Maidstone – 22:43
He received £2,652 in travel expenses from HoL so he could collect his £9,150 in daily allowance for attending the House of Lords?
It’s a far cry from “All Gas and Gaiters” (1966) “Noo-oo-te!” 🙂
[Robertson Hare, William Mervyn, Derek Nimmo ]
EC, surely it matters what he did at the HoL, if we believe in an HoL, and I still do. I’d have thought £9k to participate in the work of the Lord was not excessive at all, and if it costs £2k (peanuts for a businessman travelling for meetings etc) then surely he should not have to pay it?

Unfortunately not by his Bs over a lamppost – not yet anyway.
EC, good news about Jack Straw to end the day!
Baron
When you said that you were heading East, I had thought to see you at perhaps the Foreign Correspondents Club in Hong Kong. I guess there is East and East and never the twain shall meet. I liked your motorcyle flick btw.
On the Russian front, there are two possibilities that occur to me to explain the coupling of an aggressive stance by NATO with a reduction in its military preparedness:
1. It is all a game, albeit a game in which people die. The war talk is aimed to destabilize our psyches with Russia and NATO acting to an agreed script, the better to control populations through fear and advance other objectives by that means.
2. The USA and NATO have some totally nasty weapons systems up their sleeves which we (and the Russians) have not yet been able to find out about. Of the known unknowns there are of course neutron bombs whose development, contrary to earlier reports, appears never to have been cancelled, and the EMP capability of the US military. Our unknown unknowns could be…well, that’s unknown at the moment and we might have as usual to leave it to science fiction writers. The idea however would be that a military capability is presently masked from the Russians and is of such scope that provocative moves in Ukraine are designed to produce a response by Russia which can serve as a pretext for their use. No further defence spending may be required.
Of course the alternative is that Russia does indeed intend to sweep to the Channel ports and that our leadership to respond by popping into their well-appointed bunkers and to have a good old full out nuclear war – possibly leaving China to pick up any pieces, provided of course that China is not for good measure included on NATO’s target list – or vice versa.
The larger geopolitical situation in the West appears to be however that General Kerry, drawing on his vast reserves of military experience accumulated in Vietnam (am I being snide again?), will lead the drive toward Moscow. General Malik Obama and his siblings will push a crescent of anti-Christian forces across West Africa. Field Marshal Hussein Obama, having opened a second front in the rear by opening the USA’s southern border to terrorists, drug cartels, assorted criminals, Democrat voters, and diseased children up to the age of 31, is now encouraging Al Qaeda, presently know as ISIS, which his military and their allies have armed and trained, to hurl itself against the countries along the North African littoral with a view to its forces linking up with Fifth Columns set up with the connivance of NATO countries in all major Christian countries in Europe whose populations might otherwise be expected to put up some spirited resistance.
That’s how I see it from this Monday morning – but may be I got out of bed the wrong side.

Yes, and about Malcolm “You’d be surprised how much free time I have” Rifkind.
The days of Caroline pensions from Louis XIV are not so far away.
As one practice appears to be pensions “in arrears” so as to create what appears to be a disconnection between bribe and the act for which the bribe was paid, UKIP should consider calling for a running audit of all politicians extending after they have left office. We might start immediately with T. Blair. Quis custodiet though?
Of course, all politicians might object that such an audit would paralyse them into honest conduct, leaving them unfree to do their job. They might even all resign. Then where would we be?

“Of course, all politicians might object that such an audit would paralyse them into honest conduct, leaving them unfree to do their job. They might even all resign. Then where would we be?”
Blessed with much less regulation, bad law, intrusive nannying and presumptive nudging I should think.
The BBC Breakfast news annoyed me this morning. One of the presenters stated…
“Al-Shabaab calls for attacks on Oxford Street and Westfield centres in new terror threat…”
And then the other presenter said “But first, over to Hollywood”.
It seems to sum up the priorities.
Malfleur @ 23:23
You do like to speculate, do you not, Malfleur? The first of your scenarios would be closer to Baron’s thinking, too. Not much between the two camps, the fear remains we may get someone nastier in the Kremlin, then perhaps your number two could become a reality, God forbid.
Peter from Maidstone @ 08:30
What annoys Baron, Peter, is the continuous bleating about the three deluded young females. Of course, it’s tragic for the parents, but their behaviour is (or rather was) entirely their responsibility, they should stop moaning about the ‘authorities not doing enough’, nothing to do with the state, and long it may remain that way.
Malfleur @ 23:52
At some point in the future that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
It isn’t in Europe’s interest to impose sanctions on Russia not only because sanctions have never ‘regime change’ any country they had been directed against, more because we will need Russia when the Mandarin speakers get ready to show their strength globally.
