Dear friends and visitors. The Coffee House Wall is changing. Not for change sake, but to develop in a way that allows us to play a greater part in the conservative movement. Don’t worry, the free speaking attitude of the Coffee House Wall will not be lost even as additional features and materials are hopefully added to interest you and gain a wider audience.
Phase One of our plan is to form a team of seven regular bloggers who will commit to producing one blog a week on anything that takes their fancy. Hopefully, in the future, it might be possible to provide some small remuneration to the blogging team, but for now we need volunters who are willing to take on the commitment of one blog a week. I shall be part of the blogging team, so another six bloggers are required.
If you would like to give it a go and support the growth of the site by making an ongoing commitment to write for the site, and our international audience, from a conservative point of view, then please drop me a line at peter@coffeehousewall.co.uk
It doesn’t matter if you are not a regular poster, and the vocal commenting community here will certainly provide some immediate feedback about the quality of bloggers, so don’t feel put out if everyone faces a probationary period of blogging just to be sure your style suits the site.
But we need to gather a small committed group of bloggers as the first stage in developing the site and so we ask you to consider if you could be part of the team.
It is necessary to say that there are increasing costs in providing greater resources on the site while seeking to increase the number of visitors and commenters. So if you are enjoying what you find here then please consider making a small donation to support the site as it grows. You can use the Paypal Donate link on the right hand side.
Don’t be concerned about free speech, whatever developments take place. There Coffee House Wall will always be a home to those who want to speak their mind intelligently and thoughtfully. The development plan intends to extend our audience and not change our message.
P from M – I’m in.
Dear Peter, Well, as I am the only one who has responded, are you going ahead with this? If so, and if you accept me as a guest poster, when would you like me to post something? And how do I send it to you for posting … ?
Peter,
Not trying to pour cold water on your plans, but I wonder whether looking for people to commit to doing a blog every week is the best approach.
My own experience in anything like this ( I used to work in newspapers) is that new columnists will start out full of good ideas, but often run out of steam after a couple of months.
Might you also be open to occasional blogs from those who can’t promise a good idea every week, but might come up with one every now and then?
Hi Frank
I understand your point and dont entirely disagree. But very few people have volunteered even occasional blogs. I am always happy to recieve occasional blogs. But if we are seriously at war, as I believe we are, then I think it is reasonable and proper to expect insurgents to man the literary barracades and be committed to stay at their posts.
Will I find such volunteers? I don’t know. But I want to ask. This isn’t a hobby. It is a fight for social and cultural life or death.
In regard to the error message. I can only afford to use a shared hoster and so there are many other unrelated sites being hosted on the same server. So if there is a problem with another site it will affect us.
Thanks for your interest Verity. I’ll be in touch in due course.
Frank Sutton 18:55 – It didn’t occur to you that there are any professional writers who frequent this blog?
Verity 21.04: Of course – I look forward to reading their blogs!
“Don’t be concerned about free speech….”.Maybe you’d like to rephrase that. For years now the de facto case has been that `Truth` is no defence against hate-crime charges,on the one hand.On the other, extremists are allowed to define what `Truth`is.
Peter. do you have this hosted offshore, or do you have plans to do so after the new press freedom provisions?
Alexsandr, all options remain open.
any chance of a reply button by posts so we can track back to the post that is being replied to?
What happened to my post about The Gates of Vianna blog?? I mentioned that the Gates of Vienna was where the muzzies got turned back, in 1529, from Europe which put an end to the ambitions of the Ottoman Empire.
It’s readable, and the subjects he chooses are always interesting. Well worth a visit and, P from M, well worth, in my opinion, adding to the blogroll.
