Over the last few days we have attracted extra traffic to the site, and had comments from quite a few new people. The number of pages being viewed is running at over 4,500 a day with 2,100 visitors. We have at least a little market of folk who are interested enough in our conversation to keep coming back for more, even if they haven’t introduced themselves, and I have certainly benefited from the returning many times each day to read the views and opinons expressed freely here by many people.
But every site needs support, and this one is no different. And that is not to suggest that what people have already done is not appreciated and greatly valued. Nevertheless if we can share the address of the site with more people and on at other places then it will help us to discover new friends who have similar views to ourselves, and others who are not afraid to contradict us. If we can add a link to the site when we post on the mainstream media comments sections this will also help to advertise our presence as a place where people can speak openly and robustly.
Let me also encourage some who come here regularly to read our conversations to make a comment or two. Your point of view matters, and will help to develop the character and content of the site. Many of us who post most regularly know what others think already. But we would be interested to know your opinions, so please do consider commenting on a post or just saying anything at all on the Coffee House Wall. That is why it exists. To allow you to express your views as you wish and when you wish.
Finally, forgive me for asking that you consider making a financial contribution to the running of the site, of whatever extent. The costs of maintaining and developing the site are not insignifiant, at least for me, and it has been very generous of folk to make contributions already. But until I win the lottery, and with the various costs associated with keeping the site active increasing, I do need to ask you, readers and commenters, to consider if you are able to provide support of whatever amount.
Whether you are able to support in this way or not, your contribution to the site, by way of visiting, advertising and commenting is always much valued, and is itself very important and helpful.
Any and all donations will be gratefully received. There is a DONATE button just to the right.
Well said Peter
It’s time, and it’s very necessary, for the CHW to expand beyond just being the Wall, if it is to survive and become a proper, independant forum for conservative views.
I would not want the posters here to construe that comment as a criticism. The thoughts and views here are invariably well written, stimulating and constructive. They are expressed by people with a wide knowledge and experience of the world; mordant and witty.
But there is a problem.
Their views are often too similar to mine.
Now before the howls of rage start I had best explain myself.
The Wall is surely a place where thoughts should be provoked; not reinforced. If, for example, someone wishes to argue that capital punishment is required for cases of murder, surely the debate is far more interesting if there is a breadth of views across the spectrum, rather than a general nod of assent from the Wallsters?
To this purpose; to enable proper debate and a wide perspective, I would like to see articles and posts from a much broader perspective, even from such posters Telemachus. I, for one, would like to see if he is actually capable of producing some original thought and a logically based and supported argument, rather than just Milibandian soundbites.
Let us leave self censorship to the likes of Leveson and Cameron. What we desperately need are more catalysts, upon which acid of the Wall can be applied.
