This is the Coffee House Wall for this week. I won’t say that it is your chance to communicate with us, as we are all in this together. It is, nevertheless, the Conservative Blog post that has no particular theme, and where everything is on topic. Let’s just remember that we want to avoid ad hominem attacks on others. We don’t want to engage with trolls. We want to moderate our language ourselves as responsible and mature adults, choosing to use fruity language only where it is necessary. This is our opportunity to show what the Spectator Coffee House Wall could have been like.

Here are just three of the many places one could retire to in the good US of A. It was penned by Bill Bryson, it cannot be bad (and you may be told about the other choices later on).
You can retire to New York City where…
1. You say “the city” and expect everyone to know you mean Manhattan….
2. You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park, but can’t find Wisconsin on a map.
3. You think Central Park is “nature.”
4. You believe that being able to swear at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual.
5. You’ve worn out a car horn (if you have a car).
6. You think eye contact is an act of aggression.
You can retire to Florida where…
1. You eat dinner at 3:15 in the afternoon.
2. All purchases include a coupon of some kind — even houses and cars.
3. Everyone can recommend an excellent cardiologist, dermatologist, proctologist,
podiatrist, or orthopedist …..
4. Road construction never ends anywhere in the state.
5. Cars in front of you often appear to be driven by headless people.
You can retire to The Deep South where…
1. You can rent a movie and buy bait in the same store.
2.”Y’all” is singular and “all y’all” is plural.
3. “He needed killin” is a valid defense.
4. Everyone has 2 first names: Billy Bob, Jimmy Bob, Joe Bob, Betty Jean, Mary Beth, etc.
5. Everywhere is either: “in yonder,” “over yonder” or “out yonder”.
And it gets worse

To show your support for Jeremy Corbyn, just go to the end of the list, add your name to it if you agree to back him, pass it on.

Just tried to post this on mail on line, for some reason it seems to have a problem but it’s all about love.
It’s about the German migrants.
I’m totally shocked, there was no way this could have been predicted.
They are a religion of peace, we know that, we’ve been told it time and time again so it must be true.
What have we done to turn these peaceful gentle men into people who would do these things.
We need to hold them, cuddle them and let them know how much we love them.
Explain to them how much Jesus loves them and wants to share his love with them.
Worse than the ‘Parliament being misled’ error, which is bad enough, it is the obvious ignorance, the logical impossibility of ME fighters batting for Europe, that shows just how out of touch CMD and his mod really are. These molesters of German women are doing what their culture expects them to do: they will be praised for upholding their culture. And when the women don’t go out alone, they are conforming to Sharia. It is win-win for the invaders:
WATCH: Cameron’s ‘70,000 Moderate Syrian Fighters’ Claim Falls Apart – ‘Some Of Them Are Hardline Islamists’
“In November of last year, Mr. Cameron asserted: “Although the situation on the ground is complex, our assessment is that there are around 70,000 Syrian opposition fighters on the ground who do not belong to extremist groups.”
He has today admitted that his claim was false, effectively acknowledging that his speech on December 2nd in the House of Commons may have misled the House – a serious offence under parliamentary rules.”

It seems, Robert, today’s top politicians (ours and most of those in other countries) may lie as much as they like, there are no repercussions for them to face up to, no mechanisms to remove them from power, the electoral system have been hijacked to ensure their re-election, if they wish so, and they, the politicians, are vacuous of any values of morality, resignations seem as rare as a rocking horse manure.
Whatever one may think of Nixon, the man had it in him to quit. Could anyone imagine the honorary Muslim calling it a day for the handling of the Benghazi tragedy?

Our ‘elites’ don’t realise it is a war, or don’t care! Trump understands, so does Farage, but none of the Tories will admit it, either because they are frightened of admitting their past stupidity, job security or (which I can understand a little) losing influence (eg: Hannan):

You may want to skip this piece, but you shouldn’t. It talks about a new Russian venture, the pricing of futures of their oil in roubles, also of a move by the Chinese to do the same soon.
The piece also explains why the close coupling between the Republic and the Saudis since the early 70s. The former furnished guarantees for the latter, the Saudis promised to price their oil exclusively in dollars. We’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars each year.
The arrangements between the two has been the key pillar underpinning the reserve status of the greenback. Every country has to have dollars in its reserves to buy the black gold (other commodities) because it’s all priced in dollars, both current trade and futures, hence their buying of US treasuries, a class of assets called ‘near cash’ for the holder can always unload the paper, get dollars almost instantly.
It’s hard to see the Russian rouble pricing of the Russian oil displacing fully that priced in the dollars soon, but the way things are shaping the prospects for both the Russian and the Chinese currencies gaining in strength are good.
The Russian move may also explain why Putin refused to cut oil output (to stabilise or give boost to the price of oil), a suggestion made by the Saudis few weeks ago.
The Saudis may have a dollar cushion of considerable size (between 3-5 years at their current expenditure according to experts), but they have FA except for oil. That’s why they are planning to list some of the up-stream assets (refineries and stuff, but not oil fields), are cutting on welfare, thinking of introducing VAT.
Russia, on the other hand, has massive natural resources other than oil, alot of arable land, and thanks mostly to the inward investment of the likes of Germany, others, a reasonably sized manufacture, and a labour force, not up to the Western standard, but better than that of the Saudis.
If the Russians, who are already neck and neck with the Saudis on oil output, find a way to weather the current oil price deflation, they have a good chance to dominate the fossil fuel market in the future.

Good reading of the conflict, Robert, one could perhaps add to your points on the inactivity of the boy, the other European ‘leaders’ another point, that of the influence the honorary Muslim has had on the issue.
The ISIL advice reads like a common sense, but as experience shows many of them have beards, are dressed in blankets, attend demonstrations (hence should be on the watch list), and yet still manage to do us harm. The ‘sensitivity’ aspect runs strong in the minds of the men and women who work in our security agencies as much as it did (very likely still does) in the minds of the Swedish, German operatives …
I have a great deal of sympathy for the junior doctors. They work long hours, and apart from having all the worst duties, also have to take responsibilities often far beyond their abilities. But, and this is a big but, why when they become senior doctors, do they take advantage of their seniority and allow those that come after them to be exploited? This has been going on for generations, and remembering this, makes me cynical and less sympathetic in the junior doctors cause.

Excellent point, Colonel.
The EU, or rather its senior officers i.e. Junker & co were also involved in an action today to secure democracy, the rule of law, this time in Poland.
In the recent election, the Poles have voted in a government of a single party (PiS) for the first time since they shook off the yoke of the red totalitarianism (it was always a coalition before). The new administration, apart from other measures, refused to rubber stamp three new top judges. Their appointment was arranged with some haste by the outgoing administration, essentially to thwart any new laws not to the liking of Brussels.in short, a trio of stooges to secure Poland’s compliance with the EU anointed.
So, how do the Brussels pigeon loft apparatchiks explain their putting Poland on the watch list, threatening the country with the loss of vote in EU deliberations? “We are trying to preserve democracy in Poland’ they said.
A country votes, the new guard doesn’t see eye to eye with the totally undemocratic lot in Brussels, and yet they are told they, the democratically elected representatives of the people, are undemocratic. Arghhh
What does it tell you about our referendum, it’s hopefully ‘out’ outcome?

Sadly, the “post-democratic” behaviour of the EU junta and our puppet government has been apparent for some time. The disconnect between people and power has never been more evident but the professional political elite, especially the unelected ones, remain arrogant and their shamelessness is now brazen.
Dilley has resigned but what’s the betting he turns up shortly in an equally high-paid, inversely proportionately undemanding, state-sponsored “role”? Like so many others indulging the game of quango musical chairs. Those senior Police Scotland officers will bear no retribution for their admissions of law breaking, not of the kind we face if we put the wrong bin out, or are late paying our council tax.
The EU junta have managed to improve on the forced labour movements of Mr Hitler’s occupied ‘Europa’ where the low-wage workers now go willingly and transport themselves. The forces of power no longer need to round them up and transport them, but just to do a bit of sham border control. Meanwhile the junta and its puppets huff and puff over the minutiae of benefits.
The exciting and long overdue prospect of Obama and his agenda leaving the White House is dampened by the prospect of a relay handover of said agenda to the ghastly Hillary as she moves in with her dodgy emails and shredders. The office of President is now window dressing to a revolving door regime of the global left. And the more immigrants they manage to cram in there and here the less chance of securing enough votes to turf that regime out – even were there any capable, co-ordinated, determined and collective alternative.
They are organised and now everywhere in the corridors of power. Their propaganda and manipulation are endless. And those who should be holding up conservative banners and leading an alternative narrative are mainly engaged in the game of appeasement or surrender.

ISTANBUL (AP) — The suicide attacker who detonated a bomb that killed 10 German tourists in the heart of Istanbul’s historic district had registered as a refugee just a week earlier, Turkish officials said Wednesday. Turkish authorities identified the assailant in Tuesday’s attack as a Syrian man who was born in 1988, and said he was affiliated with the Islamic State group. Turkish media, including some close to the government, identified him as Nabil Fadli and said he was Saudi-born. The bomber had recently entered Turkey and registered with an Istanbul branch of the Migration Management Authority. “This person was not someone who was being monitored,” Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said. “It is a person who entered normally, as a refugee, as an asylum-seeker.”

No relation to you I’m sure Frank P, but I thought Wallsters might enjoy this.
Frank and Fiona were making passionate love in Frank’s van when suddenly Fiona,
who was a bit on the kinky side,
and had just read “50 shades of grey”, yells out,
“Oh fat boy, whip me, whip me!”
Frank, not wanting to pass up this unique opportunity, obviously did not have any whips to hand, but in a flash of inspiration, opened the window, snaps the antenna off his van and proceeds to whip Fiona until they both collapse in sado-masochistic ecstasy.
About a week later Fiona notices that the marks left by the whipping session are not healing and starting to fester a bit so she goes to the doctor.
The doctor takes one look at the wounds and asks: “Did you get these marks having sex?”
Fiona a little too embarrassed that she had even had sex with Frank, let alone allowed him to indulge in her own kinky desires, eventually admits, “Yes I did.”
Nodding his head knowingly the doctor exclaims: “I thought so because in all my years as a doctor you’ve got the worst case of van aerial disease that I’ve ever seen.”

Have you watched the US TV series House of Cards; based on the the British series? I was given all three seasons as a Christmas present; you would possibly find the segments involving the Russian interplay interesting Though … despite the plush production quality, the series is quite laboured, repetitive and predictable in parts, and some it sheer hokum and ludicrously implausible, but I did enjoy the interplay between the US and Russian Presidents. Not sure whether it has been screened here (I tend not to watch US TV drama – not enough time, what with keeping tabs on all the news channels and the blogosphere, but the box set of all three seasons is available.

I’m curious as to how they identified him so quickly and so easily.
There’s not much left after a vest is exploded, the head usually takes a vertical flight path so that gets damaged on return to Earth
Their an ugly bunch before the explosion, so identifying the bits must be difficult.
Did he have one of these totally indestructible passports that gently flutter to the ground to help the authorities nail him.

Apparently he was fingerprinted by the migration authority on arrival and they identified him from those. Whether true or not I couldn’t say.
The results of explosions are unpredictable as that film of the suicide bomber’s living torso demonstrates. Some people close to a blast can get away without a scratch whilst others many yards away get injured or killed.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again western countries should form a coalition and take over the Middle East. They are incapable of running a country and incapable of living peacefully with each other.
Alternatively build a bloody Great Wall with them on the inside , and anyone of there persuasion who causes trouble outside the wall gets sent over the wall with their entire family’s.
We can supply them with endless amounts of ammunition and weapons and let them create mayhem within there walls.
In about a 100 years time we could investigate inside to see how things are going.
If there still at it, give it another 100 years.
On our side of the wall every link to Islam is made totally illegal. Anyone found guilty, sit in the catapult and over the wall with the family following.
I’m only half joking, because I can see no sensible answer whatsoever to the problem. And do we want to live in a world where we are constantly under attack and accepting it.

Unless and until we as a nation start to make life very uncomfortable for the ROP we shall be subsumed exponentially. As it is unlikely that politicians of any stripe will allow us to make life uncomfortable for the barbarians, as they are already a sizeable chunk of the electorates of Western nations – and more vociferous than any other segment. The inevitability of our rapid decline is therefore depressing in the extreme. Anybody who watched the SOTU speech yesterday from the inexecrable incumbent of he White House will appreciate that. The West has lost the plot. Underlined by the latest Iranian provocation of the US Navy, their response and the craven and weasel words of that long streak of piss John Kerry. Moreover our own government is now irrelevant – a travesty!
“Three men have been found guilty of involvement in the “largest burglary in English legal history”. BBC
What’s the bet that these men receive longer prison sentences than traitors, terrorists and paedophiles?
RobertRetyred @ 13:04
So who TF decided to make the change?
As has so often happened in the past, the local Quislings are worse than the newcomers. It’s they who feel a need to crawl, arselick, submit. What’s equally disturbing is the lack of any reaction from the parents, they’ve been probably infected by the bug of sensitivity, are scared to stand up, oppose the measure.
Btw, the Ramadan fasting phase isn’t fixed, it moves from one year to another. Are the appeasers, surrender happy, backward bending authorities ready to accommodate the Allah worshippers even though it’s going to mess up any forward planning by the vast majority of the families?
Herbert Thornton @ 06:16
Nothing new here, Hebert, perhaps just more tightening of the same measures in place for years. The Kurds have always said they will oppose any re-dusting of the Ottoman Empire, the goal of the Turkish top man.
The more severe application of the cruel measures against the Kurds may have come as a result of the anti-ISIL successes in the Aleppo region, it was recently re-captured by the Assad forces cum the units of the Free Syrian army that switched allegiance, joined the Russian led coalition.
Aleppo sits just in the nort-western corner of Syria, not that far from the Turkish border. It was this Turkish-Syrian border region where Erdogan wanted to create an “anti-ASIL buffer zone’, he brought there alot of Turkmen, the fighters who brought down the Russian bomber.
The loss of Aleppo must have pissed Erdogan mightily, the Turkmen tribes are near-by they could be the next target for the Assad forces (equipped, guided, assisted by the Russians, of course, Putin’s probably still fuming, hasn’t yet forgotten the downed bomber).
Btw, are you aware that in spite all the haste to get our RAF boys to bomb Syria, we have conducted only three strikes on the country (in the five days following the House’s nod to our entering the fray)? Another strike was planned about a couple of days ago? Makes you think, ha?

Imaginative thinking on your part, John, the ‘passport, totally undamaged, fluttering gently to the ground’. How convenient indeed.
You know what’s so tragically sad? That the unwashed so totally disbelieve anything those in power are saying. They may, one suspects, also tell the truth, but nobody, but the deluded, believes them. Not a good omen that, for anyone, us and them.
John birchs @ 07:29
In that ‘wall and all’ idea you have a perfect script for a feature film, John, the catapulting scenes should be awesome. Not for our times, obviously, but keep it in the drawer, who knows what’s round the corner.

No, Frank, no watch, the barbarian has been busier since the new year dawned than before, he hasn’t watched anything, hasn’t been able to read much either (on the Net or in paper form), thankfully, the world has also been spared with his ranting.

Not that the barbarian always agrees with Helmer who’s based in Moscow (here, too, he may be undervaluing Kedrin’s hand in putting Russia’s finances in order when he was in charge of the Ministry of Finance), but for those of you interested in things Russian, the piece tells you something about the politicking, manoeuvring for power, and the often quoted ‘non-existence of opposition’ to the KGB Colonel.
Kedrin doesn’t hide his aversion to Putin and his backers, spends more time in Washington than Moscow openly blasting the Kremlin leadership, backing the American take on things, and is also often seen on Russian TV doing the same.

John birch @ 12:59
Pat’s as good as ever, John, it’s also nice to see how many viewers he attracts. Amazingly he never gets any mention by the MSM, a critical mention, most likely because they’ve wised up to the fact that any mention of him would only boost his popularity.
Almost by accident, Baron was watching a debate on France 24, four panelists, two from the US (NY Times, WSJ), one from France, another from Italy. The names aren’t important. The subject: the ME, Russia, Turkey, immigration, the lot of what exercises the media (or not).
The Italian guy was the only one who was talking common sense: the recent response to immigration is based on emotions, never a good guide in forming a policy, the EU has lost the plot, it fell apart when it was needed, national interests prevail, Turkey’s Erdogan’s a dictator not unlike the Libyan colonel except that Gaddafi did what he promised, the Turkish man doesn’t, cheats on everyone.
The NY Times female journalist saw Putin as a dictator, but not Erdogan, who ‘has different priorities, freedoms, democracy aren’t high on his list’. The man from the WSJ wasn’t much better, kept talking about the European tradition of helping refugees, but at least acknowledged that the system for dealing with immigrants has fallen apart, has to be re-thought, improved.
Not a word from anyone about the Mutti’s key reason for letting the immigrants to occupy the country peacefully – the shortage of the ‘factory fodder’ for the German economy that is doing quite well, needs more recruits. Baron has said it before (got kicked for saying that it made sense if one looks at it through German eyes), he sticks with it.
Only two days ago, one Czech paper reported how a local company successfully hired a number of Syrian refugees (these were Christians), could easily hire more. The Czech industry is coupled with that of Germany with an umbilical cord, the Germans must have done, probably are still doing the same.
Why then the MSM poodles fail to look into it? It may seem a secondary issue to them, but it isn’t. It is this that has driven the Mutti’s decision to open the borders, flood Germany with (eventually) millions of young, willing, hungry young men (and their spouses, relatives), who will do the job, but who are likely to also be the base for jihadi recruitment campaigns, and cannot but have profound implications for the indigenous culture.

JEWISH MOTHER
The year is 2020 and the United States has elected the first woman who is also the first Jewish president, Susan Goldstein. She calls up her mother a few
weeks after Election Day and says, “So, Mom, I assume you’ll be coming to my inauguration?”
“I don’t think so. It’s a ten hour drive, your father isn’t as young as he used to be and my arthritis is acting up again.”
“Don’t worry about it Mom, I’ll send Air Force One to pick you up and take you home. And a limousine will pick you up at your door.”
“I don’t know. Everybody will be so fancy-schmantzy, what on earth would I wear?”
Susan replies, “I’ll make sure you have a wonderful gown custom-made by the best designer in New York .”
“Honey,” Mom complains, “you know I can’t eat those rich foods you and your friends like to eat.”
The President-to-be responds, “Don’t worry Mom. The entire affair is going to be handled by the best kosher caterers in New York. Mom, I really want you to come.”
So Mom reluctantly agrees and on January 20, 2021, Susan Goldstein is being sworn in as President of the United States . In the front row sits the new President’s mother, who leans over to a senator sitting next to her and says, “You see that woman over there with her hand on the Torah, becoming President of the United States?”
The Senator whispers back, “Yes, I do.”
Mom says proudly, “Her brother is a doctor.”
ITALIAN MOTHER
Giuseppe excitedly tells his mother he’s fallen love and that he is going to get married.
He says, “Just for fun, Mama, I’m going to bring over three women and you try and guess which one I’m going to marry.”
The mother agrees.
The next day, he brings three beautiful women into the house, sits them down on the couch & they chat for a while.
He then says, “Okay, Mama, guess which one I’m going to marry?”
Mama says immediately, “The one on the right.”
“That’s amazing, Mama. You’re right. How did you know?”
Mama replies: “I don’t like her.”
IRISH FATHER
I was reading an article last night about fathers and sons, and memories came flooding back of the time I took my son out for his first drink.
Off we went to our local bar, which is only 200 yards from the house. I got him a Guinness. He didn’t like it – so I drank it.
Then I got him a pint of Smithwicks; he didn’t like it either, so I drank it.
Thinking that the quantity may have overwhelmed him, I ordered a double Jamesons. He didn’t like that nor the Bushmills I got him afterwards. I had to drink these too.
By this time, I could hardly push the pram back home.
Now, don’t these parental stereotypes deserve a big hand, a good clap? 😉

“Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming.”
David Bowie, quoted in the Daily Mirror.(Source; The Week magazine)
A petrol station owner in Ireland was trying to increase his sales, so he put up a sign that read, ‘Free Sex with Fill-Up.’
Paddy pulled in, filled his tank and asked for his free sex.
The owner told him to pick a number from 1 to 10.
If he guessed correctly, he would get his free sex.
Paddy guessed 8, and the proprietor said, ‘You were close.
The number was 7. Sorry. No sex this time.’
A week later, Paddy, along with his friend Mick, pulled in for another fill-up. Again he asked for his free sex.
The proprietor again gave him the same story, and asked him to guess the correct number.
Paddy guessed 2. The proprietor said, ‘Sorry, it was 3.
You were close, but no free sex this time.’
As they were driving away, Mick said to Paddy,
‘I think that game is rigged and he doesn’t really
give away free sex at all.’
Paddy replied, ‘No it’s genuine enough Mick.
My wife won twice last week.’ 😉

You may not have the time, Noa, but your sense of humor, alive a ticking, is appreciated, a good laughter inducing trio of jokes, the Italian, and the free petrol ones are new to the barbarian, he’s heard variations of the other two, but is there a new joke ever?
Noa @ 23:2
Good it is, but is it his or his wife’s?
Two bits of breaking news.
A group of gunmen inspired by the ROP jihadi boisterousness elsewhere, have taken over some hostages in a hotel in Burkina Faso’s Ouagadougou, a fierce fighting and many deaths are reported.
The Germans have suggested a compromise to the boy’s idea Britain will not pay any welfare to immigrants for the first four years of their arriving here. It would be OK, says the Mutti, provided the same applied for the local men and women seeking jobs after leaving school, no tax credits for the first four years either.
That’s a brilliant solution that will go down well with the electorate.
For Baron, if the boy negotiated just two things, each one of them unambiguously simple and clear: We and we alone keep control of our borders, and the House retains the final say on any new law, rule, regulation originating from Brussels. The boy does that, the barbarian will take to the streets shouting ‘yes yes yes to the EU’.
The last piece of boring statistics for you:
Last year, over 1.6mn people asked for an asylum in Europe, that’s more than the number of migrants actually arriving here (some put in more than one application), around a third of the applications were successful (so far), and fewer than half of those rejected have been sent back.
Sleep safely.
This is too good to be missed by anyone. It’s about the Dutch governing elite who, it seems, occupy the same space as the Swedish anointed:

Nice one, Noa (23:20)
No doubt that’s the same filling station where a tourist pulled up to fill his Rolls Royce.
“tis a lovely car sir” says the proprietor.
“Thank you” says the tourist ‘ how much do I owe you?”, reaching into his pocket, drawing out his money and dropping a golf tee on the ground.
“Now what would this be?”says the puzzled proprietor, picking up the tee.
“Oh, that’s to put your balls on when you drive off”
“Feck me, them Rolls Royce’s think of everything”
As the muzzies seem so keen to have things their own way, then perhaps we should accommodate them. A good start would a be a sound whipping for touching a woman, other than a member of their family up to hanging for rape. If they want the Sharia, let them have the bits that suit us.

Baron January 16th, 2016 – 00:02
The suggestion in your last paragraph is far too sensible for the PPE idiots in our Parliament to comprehend, let alone the Uber Idiot in No.10 who seems to believe that the best way to negotiate is to discard your trump hand and declare your surrender before you start.
Of course Parliament should be sovereign and retain a veto over all EU law, regulation, red tape and impenetrable gobbledygook but by increasing the tiers of government that now rule over us the idiots have backed themselves in to a corner. With the mess that is the “devolved” UK, Scotland is in exactly the same boat as Britain in the EU, constrained to conform to “non-devolved” matters imposed on their minority in the UK Parliament as our minority in the EU Parliament is constrained to conform. England is in an even worse position, not even “devolved” and subject to the laws of the complete Congregation of Clowns, not just in Westminster but in Brussels too, where the excitable foreign politicians of 26 other countries get to call our shots for us. (As well as in the infliction of “Local Government” that is filling out, fattening up and throwing its weight around as society is more and more politicised and more and more civil servants re-invent themselves as “leaders”). The UK government knows that by rejecting EU sovereignty they contradict their own relationship with the resurgent Scotland they created so the solution is plenty of short term plaster, half-baked ideas and a torrent of spin. No-one seems more skilled at this subterfuge that fools no-one except the great brainless bien pensant multi-headed host filling the bubble than the Chief Clown in No.10.
The whole rickety, groaning, multi-tiered edifice, from the Scottish Parliament to the EU, is half-arsed and guarantees grievance and misery. It is replete with contradiction, double standards, fatuous optimism, lies, deceit and bad strategy. But those who benefit most from the mess get to decide its future. The gravy train might be a mess but it is still the gravy train.
Colonel Mustard (10:19)
Yes! And as the stock markets begin to collapse, the lies and evasions will proliferate. Which opens up yet another debate. What happens when even the gravy train hits the buffers? And how will this following grim prospect factor into the equation? :

Btw Baron, though your ‘conditions’ for remaining in the EU are fantasies, it is sad that you would vote to retain the socialistic behemoth of the Brussels bastardy under any circumstances.
It is even sadder that it would appear that the is more likely to be subsumed by the New Caliphate if the demographics continue in the current extrapolation, along with the island appendage that we have now become.

Interesting link that one, in the American Digest, below your immediate reference was a photo of the Hatton Garden hoisters, presumably plotting in their local over a pint.
Were you, I wondered, proposing something similar, albiet politically based, for the Wallsters? Drilling our way into No 10 perhaps, capturing the perpetual spinning thing and holding the guvernm’t to ransom until, oxmoronic idea though it may be, a proper conservative is found in the miasma of the Conservative party, to begin the immense work of political reconstruction that is still, for now, now the United Kingdom.
Now then, where’s my drill and gelly, Colonel, what’s the plan?… Frank, when is the Plod changing shifts? EC, can you crash their IT and security? Baron, how do we finance this fandango…..??

Another arrow in our quiver – “maqama”: the dressing up of the taqiyya pitch in cunning and persuasive, even poetic, propaganda. I have noted many examples when the MSM gives houseroom to so-called ‘moderate’ Muslim spokespersons.
Can’t repeat often enough – don’t be too distracted by the terrorist attacks. The smiling subterfuge of the ‘peaceful’ propagandists is the cultural killer.
Comrade Corbynski is using the same tactic on behalf of the transmogrification of the comintern (allegedly abandoned):

As I watch and listen to the weedy, wimpish wanker during the BBC wall-to-wall coverage of the ‘Leader of HM Opposition’ I despair at the gullibility and dissolution of hoi polloi of this once great nation.
This was underlined as I just penned those thoughts as Sir Richard Dalton, ‘former British Ambassador to Iran’ was simultaneously being interviewed by Sky News and extolling the virtue of the Iran deal to the point of ejaculation. Sheer maqama!

The Hatton Garden heist: whenever the words Hatton Garden appear on a case file, it’s the sub story that doesn’t appear on the file that is the interesting one. It was always the of the Organised Crime
… Sri that last post ejaculated prematurely.
… It (Hatton Garden) was always the nexus of the Organised Crime network in the UK and the top wheelers and dealers of those jolly japes rarely got their collars felt, because many were wearing the camouflage of white hats. I fear. The machinations of informants, informants reward pots, insurance reward pots, set-ups, proceeds recovered and not recovered all play their part. In the brotherhoods of criminal enterprise and criminal investigation – and prosecution – it’s often difficult to sort out the chaff from the corn. Often the plans are cooked up in the ennui of HM holiday camps aka penitentiaries. Then farmed out to practioners (on both sides of the thin blue line – which sadly seems as porous as ever). But the tabloids enjoy making heroes of slags and fall guys.
Of course, measured beside the blaggings and scams pulled off daily in Whitehall, most Town Halls and the City of London, the proceeds of this haul is very small beer. And beside the strokes pulled by the Brussels/Luxembourg/Strasbourg triangle, it’s chump change! ☺
… then again – and in a league of its own – consider the nineteen-trillion-bucks in the red US Government?
Any more bidders?
I feel a kind of morbid curiosity about this, not to mention that I find the details hard to grasp. I suspect that both the Kurds and Vlad will be resolved to prevent it or at least to make it into a Kurdistan rather than a Sunnistan. What says Baron? –

Well Cameron has 70,000.
Not enough time to do more just yet, only a small piece of news to cheer you up:
The Washington Times:
The honorary Muslim in the White House has no intention of stepping out of the White House and fading from the limelight. No, he’s got his sights set on the world stage—this time as secretary general of the United Nations, according to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly is planning payback for President Obama’s dismissing Mr. Netanyahu’s objections to the Iran nuclear deal last year. Mr. Netanyahu is said to be rallying moderate Arabs to thwart Mr. Obama’s bid to become the Secretary-General of the United Nations after he leaves the White House next year.
Mr. Obama has already discussed the issue with Republican, Democratic and Jewish officials in the United States, according to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida.
Mr. Netanyahu recently is said to have gotten wind of Obama’s plans which he calls the Obama Project. “Wasn’t eight years of having Obama in office enough?” Mr. Netanyahu is quoted in the Kuwaiti daily as telling associates. “Eight years during which he ignored Israel? And now he wants to be in a position that is liable to cause us hardships in the international arena.”
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s term expires in early 2017, making Obama’s bid for the position a possibility.

Frank P @ 11:32
Why should we care if Germany and the other lot in the EU prefers to live in, so far anyway, a mild replica of the socialist nirvana, Frank?
To leave the monstrosity here’s roughly what we would have to do:
The legislation, there would no EU laws, no Europol, no European arrest warrant (which is excellent t) but all that stuff will have to be replaced, our laws adopted to implement former EU directives (whether we wanted them going or annulled), would have to be reviewed, abrogated, modified or retained. Since EU treaties with countries outside the EU would cease to apply to the UK, we would have to replace them, too.
.
What about the 2m Britons living in EU countries, they would lose the advantages of EU citizenship, employment rights of the single market. If we imposed restrictions on the rights of EU citizens to live in the UK, (say) the Poles, Britons would face the same across the EU.
To preserve trading with the EU itself we would need new customs laws and tariffs, re-establish controls at borders (including with Ireland, exactly what Baron has said we should do). Access to each others market would thus come at a cost to us and them. We could insist on other conditions to make life harder for the EU, too, but that would mess up things for everyone. Hopefully, common sense would prevail, but it would still have to be gone through.
We would have to develop trade with the rest of the world urgently. EU agreements on goods or services (such as financial services) cover about 60 countries and 35 per cent of world trade. These would no longer apply to the UK, but we would benefit from the WTO’s market access rules, however modest. Hence the need to negotiate agreements from scratch.
Why go through all this nightmare (and more the barbarian cannot think of), Frank, if we could have full control of our borders, and the Commons had the final say on what sneaks through from the EU monstrosity?
As the Colonel says, it’s but a dream that any of our political clowns would ever negotiate either of the two fundamental rights of a sovereign country, but the point is only something similar to it should do. Otherwise, let’s go through the nightmare, but stay free.
Will the new incomers like the music of the German lands, or will they insist on hearing only what the honorary Muslim in the WH called ‘the most beautiful sound in the world’ the call to prayer?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PWRCVXAHfU&list=PL-wS_KzJTP4LELdKEDddgyWTDtMXwh28A&feature=em-share_video_in_list_user
Baron has just noticed the first sentence in his reply to Frank needs qualifying (in fact, id did have it before it got cut off). It assumes only Britain would have the two negotiated exceptions, the rest of the club would continue as before.
Colonel Mustard @ 10:19
Excellent points, Colonel, it has somehow escaped the barbarian’s attention, the coupling of our relationship with the EU, with that of the tribes here, the Scottish one in particular. A mess it it, and they keep digging deeper still.
What sort of ‘fundamental’ negotiation is it anyway. As it happens, the debating currently revolves mostly around the welfare of immigrants, everyone is exercised about it, and rightly so. But what if the Poles and others were to pack up, go back, and a new hot issue arose, (say) that of an EU Treasury, or a year later, of common European Armed Forces, or three years since now, of Europe made up of only republican constructs, no monarchy allowed to be a EU member. What then? Does another boy start a ‘fundamental’ renegotiation again?
None of the issues the boy calls ‘fundamental’ are relevant to the ‘essentiality’ of our being a part of the undemocratic set-up. They’re important, but in no way they alter our submission to the diktat of the unelected. Out it must be.
EC @ 23:45
Is illuminating the right adjective for the chat, EC?
The politically motivated misdemeanours of the Clintons are one thing, the stuff about their private lives another (Chelsea not the Bill’s daughter, his son with a prostitute etc.).
Could it really be true? Why does Stone get away with saying it if it’s not true? If proof exists of any of it, why aren’t those agencies charged with law and order failing to look into it?
A drop of news from the land of the Russians that smells as something significant:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-08-18/putin-ally-yakunin-to-drop-railway-ceo-job-to-become-a-senator
The above piece leaves out something many of the Russian media have pointed out as significantly menacing. Apparently, Yakunin (that’s the outgoing railway boss) said (he denies it now), that the wealth of the oligarchs isn’t secured if Putin decides it ‘doesn’t serve well the whole Russia’.
One interpretation of it is that unless the rich and wealthy stop behaving as if only their personal riches mattered, he will find a way of ensuring that their assets benefit every Russian. Ominous this. What has given the KGB man the power to go for the reshuffle is (so far anyway) the success in Syria.

There’s a snag, John, the man talks (and gets kicked for it by the MSM pack of wolves, who are almost to a man on the Brussels’s leash), but he cannot do much because presidential powers are limited, and the PM (who happens to be a social democrats of a left leaning party).
EC @ 21:52
They didn’t sue, (that’s purely a speculative explanation by Baron), because as the great Mark Steyn has said, the process of litigation could be by far more injurious than the outcome of it.
Herbert Thornton @ 17:42
How did Baron miss this posting of yours, Herbert, only He knows.
And just as well because what does the barbarian know you and all the others don’t?
The piece seems well argued though, the A-D stages in particular, but Patrick could have put in more about three components of the ME jigsaw – Russia, The Saudis and oil.
If one were to inject into the map of the region the location of oil fields (the map from last year, still by and large valid as Patrick says) one could see why the fighting is so vicious in the areas he mentions. The regions have oil wells, for the ISIL thugs the best source of money, for any future polity the source of budgetary income needed for survival in an otherwise desolate country. If one were to strip the Damascus regime of the oil fields it could not survive.
On Russia:
It would be foolish to argue Putin’s in he ME just for the Assad’s brown eyes, the motives are very likely complex, but in part have to be tied to Russia’s geo-political considerations, the country’s security.
NATO has surrounded Russia from the north and west, Putin couldn’t have prevented it even if he tried, the burghers of the easter European lands (the Poles, the Hungarians, the Czechs, others), as well as of the Baltic states were unlikely to embrace his Russia after almost two generations of the communist yoke run from the Kremlin.
In the east he may feel secure, but not fully, the Chinese are an unpredictable lot, they may figure it could pay off to bring Russia to her knees with the help of the Americans (who will be only too pleased to oblige), and then turn against the Republic. It’s a long shot, but one cannot rule it out.
Japan is the joker in the pack. What we don’t hear about at all is the unhappiness of the Japanese unwashed with the American presence in the country. The military bases are mostly in Okinawa, and the resentment there has grown massively, is played out in public, something the Japanese usually avoid. Abe will have a job to twist the Constitution, the dislike for re-armement, for greater and a changed role for the ‘defensive’ forces will be very much resisted by the people. He will probably succeed because the Japanese (similar to the Russians and Germans) tend to back their leaders more readily than us.
What the presence in the ME is designed to do is to secure a possible infiltration from the south. It’s the soft underbelly of Russia, we talked about it before, the bunch of the -stan countries, all Muslim, all unstable, many bordering or close to the Russian border. The American would not hesitate to do a Maidan in any of them, infiltrate Russia, have a go converting Russian Muslims to the ideology of ISIL.
The behaviour of the Saudis puzzles, but the barbarian has nothing to say except that they are not particularly effective fighters what with getting trapped in a protracted and devastating conflict in Yemen, and their heavy dependance on oil cannot work in their favour as oil prices are still heading south.
What surprised the barbarian is the latest onslaught by the ISIL thugs in the eastern region of Syria (rich in oil fields). How come they still have the manpower to stage it? It may well be, (as Baron said when the Russians got involved), the Assad’s forces haven’t got the numerical strength or the gear to sweep the bombed spots, the ISIL thugs are good at hiding, coming back to fight another day.
Baron
Thanks for your thoughtful response.
I’m probably going way out on a limb here, and I don’t see Turkey ever acquiescing in anything of the sort unless events occur that drastically weaken it, but I wonder whether Vlad has his eye on encouraging the creation of a Greater Kurdistan composed of territory severed from not just Iraq and Syria but from Turkey?
It’s old news, but we need to be reminded, though it isn’t just the hardliners who say this, it is the ‘norm’:
‘Nine-year-old girls are marriage material’ say Sharia hardliners in Pakistan
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/635376/Pakistani-officials-forced-pull-law-banning-child-marriage-un-islamic
You, Herbert, are a born optimist, but will it come to it that the major powers will sit down, work out something better than the Sykes-Picot division of the place? Can they do it? Hmmm
Baron would welcome if what you say were to happen if only because the Kurds have never had any desire to kill us, and to say they dislike the ISIL Islamic thugs would be the understatement of the millennia.
The barbarian is by far more pessimistic, reckons that our denying ISIL its pre-medieval Islamic nature, and thinking it can be defeated just or predominantly with the gun are two deadly fallacies that will haunt us for a long time to come, may even unsettle the existing world order irrevocably and as painfully as any economic meltdown ever can.
At best, the ME will replicate Afghanistan only with greater intensity, a difference of standing next to a radiator or parking one’s bum in the boiler room; at worst, the two opposing camps led by the US and Russia will have a go at each other, a sort of pre-test match probing each other latest toys for destruction of life and property, a warm up for the real thing if they felt a need for it to come for reasons utterly unconnected with the ME (say) domestic unrest, inflation out of control and stuff like that.
Let’s just hope you win, the place calms down, we all b breathe in safety.
Btw, aplogies for the numerous errors in the posting at 01.17, what would one expect from a poorly educated anyone, A Slav in particular.
On a completely different boil a headline from today’s Guardian:
“I was stabbed by my partner and am only alive because of the NHS”.
Doesn’t it strike you as a perfect amalgam of contemporary Britain? A partnership, (not a marriage of husband and wife), stabbing within the union of the two (not understanding, compassion, love), and as the saviour of the failed couple here comes to the rescue the pride of the country, the near bankrupt NHS.
The headline could be a serious contender for an epitaph for the country.
There is a delicious and palpable irony in Parliamentary time being wasted today on whether Trump should be gated from the UK for suggesting that he would seriously curtail the entry of Muslims into the US if he were to become POTUS (until such time as the vetting procedures are in place to prevent terrorists from infiltrating); while at the same time our spoon-faced PM (well observed Colonel M – even better than Verity’s hen’s arse metaphor) is proposing to divert £20m of taxpayer money to teach Muslim women to speak English (so that they can be brainwashed to reject the tenets of their own religion).
Or have I missed something?
The shallow thought processes of the Head of HM Government would be beyond belief were it not for his persistent expression of them. The man (a flattering term in his case) is a moron.
PfM
Peter, I left a post yesterday, for alexsandr, and it was marked as awaiting moderation and has now disappeared. Why? It was only some links to some organ music on You Tube following alexsandr’s mentioning of the Organ Symphony. Was it the word organ that flagged it up? Or the word mosque which slipped was slipped in en passant? Seems odd that such an innocuous post could be censored here. Of all places.
Frank P @ 12:19
The £20mn will be as well spent as was the £30mn to promote homosexuality in Russia, Frank, come on, give them some credit, they must know what they are doing, no?
We seem to be banning more people than the communist thugs did when they ran the show in the East. People were allowed in, but the MSM said nothing about it. Here, of course, one couldn’t keep the media quiet, hence outright banning.
Perversely, the barbarian wouldn’t mind if he got banned from coming for the more of such totalitarian gestures the greater the number of people who wake up, realise that freedoms are being eroded, bit by bit,, do the only thing left to us, cast their vote against those curtailing the freedoms. Or so one hopes.
Allegedly, in 2007, Novak Djokovič was offered $200,000 to lose in the first round in St Petersburg, he says he said ‘no, thank you’, and didn’t even play there.
Lord Coe will sort it out, he’s the only one of the sport boffins who saw nothing, knew nothing, suspected nothing because he only started at the top in 2007. Not enough time to figure what’s what except that the Ruskies competing in any sport are either permanently drunk (true) or drugged (also true) whilst everyone else is fine.
Those who penned the latest report must be mad, we even madder to go along with it, it does nothing for the perception of Britain in the sporting circles. His lordship may have not taken any bribes, he may not have had enough power to do anything, the corrupt ones would have destroyed him, but surely he cannot remain in charge, what message does it send to the world.
