This is the Coffee House Wall for this week. I won’t say that it is your chance to communicate with us, as we are all in this together. It is, nevertheless, the Conservative Blog post that has no particular theme, and where everything is on topic. Let’s just remember that we want to avoid ad hominem attacks on others. We don’t want to engage with trolls. We want to moderate our language ourselves as responsible and mature adults, choosing to use fruity language only where it is necessary. The Douche Bag (Lisa Douchet) is very indignant!
The Ukraine situation is too dangerous for the usual simplifications.
Some of the responsibility for MH17 is Putin’s. He has used the putsch in Kiev to grab territory.
But the western leaders who encouraged the Ukrainian demonstrators to overthrow a democratically elected president must also shoulder blame for the civil war going on.
And finally what the hell was the plane flying over a war zone for. And not just a war zone but one in which aircraft are being shot down at high altitude.
It’s not time to demonise Putin. That could cause a very dangerous escalation. There’s a great post on the need for restraint called: No Time To Do The Right Thing” at:
http://john-moloney.blogspot.com/2014/07/no-time-to-do-right-thing.html
The blame for MH17 lies with the EU and its expansionist policies.
Putin has only been doing what Cameron should be doing (and what Obama wouldn’t know how to do if he was given intensive lessons) and that is standing up for his nation.
As for the disrespect for international law and basic humanity shown by the rebels, what do nations have armies and special troops for? These bastards are cowards. Forget sanctions, send in the SAS (UK and Aussie) , shoot a few, warn them you’ll bomb them and their families flat (a bit like Gaza) then get on with the job, having promised Putin the EU will pull its horns in and keep its nose out of the zone of Soviet influence when all the body parts and aircraft parts are collected and logged.
Send any bits of Yanks to the White House in a dustbin to bring home to them how far their ‘President’ has dragged a superpower down.
Perhaps it’s time for a bit of escalation.
Alex,
I agree vis-à-vis Ukraine. This is no time for sabre rattling, there are too many similarities to events of a century ago and frankly Ukraine is not worth another slaughter fest. That Putin is trying to evade any responsibility is entirely understandable, but while he may have provided the weaponry does not mean he gave the order to fire it, and I do not doubt that he does not have nearly as much influence with the rebels as is popularly supposed. Let nobody forget that the West is doing entirely the same thing with equally distasteful regimes in other parts of the World, pots and kettles etc.
The EU bares a lot of the responsibility for this situation, a very good reason for getting out of that lunatic organisation. The EU had no business in meddling in the affaires of Ukraine, and I for one do not want any association with such people, they are vermin, look at the way they have been treating the corpses of the victims. There is a history of similar behaviour in that region, the Nazis used it to great effect, and no people were more eager to carry out a good pogrom. Vlad is welcome to the bastards.

HIDING AMONGST MINORS AND SCHOLARS.
Ain’t life grand. The united Nations, that fatuous tribute to the naivety of the West, is calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Those unsporting Israelis, fed up with projectiles being lobbed at the by the adherents of Hamas and Fatah have chosen to fight back, really, something must be done. Jews defending themselves? never heard of such nonsense, whatever next? before you know it the cheeky beggars will be expecting to be allowed to live in peace. But there is one question I would like to ask. Why is it such an affront to the anti Semitic Western intelligentsia that Israel should defend itself and there is no uproar when the Palestinians launch terrorist attacks against Israel in virtual perpetuity? Surely there can not be double standards at work here? Perhaps I am just simple in thinking Obama will stand up for Israel just as he does for Ukraine, and if he does, God help them, in that event they would be sent gift wrapped to isis.

Malfleur,
Thanks for the link., it was instructive, but no revelation to those who have the brains to think and the eyes to see. We are facing a ruthless enemy and those we elect to defend us are are determined to sell us down the river. If there is any consolation in all this , it is that they will be the first to have their throats cut.

… and while I’ve been ignoring the momentous geopolitical machinations of the idiots jiggling the levers of power – and paying attention to more mundane and domestic issues, I noted that a retail food outlet called Lidl had bitten into Tesco’s market share – and intends to open 200 more stores in the UK creating thousands of new jobs. This pleased me no end, as I have been in dispute with the Tesco Empire on a few occasions of late, taking issue over their pricing and marketing techniques, not to mention the alakefic attitude of some of their managerial staff (eventually causing me to shred my club card and defect to the cheaper Gerry grocers). I’d like to think that this contributed in some small way to the sacking of Tesco’s CEO today.

I strayed onto Radio4 just before the 9am news headlines, and they were discussing what to do with Putin, how he was deranged, how Russian TV just pumped out propaganda (is that irony, or is that irony?) and kept telling lies such as a child, (a Russian speaking child in Eastern Ukraine, I would expect, as I missed the beginning) being murdered etc etc.
What surprises me is that Philip Hammond, the new FOM, said leave it to the international bodies to determine what happened, which was good advice, yet we have this war mongering that, because of what he said, has little credibility. In fact, it looks more like propaganda each day it is escalated.
The newspapers have accused those on site of leaving the bodies in the heat and putting them in refrigerated wagons! What would we have done? The offence is that the actions are being carried out by the rebels and not an authority buying into the NWO.
There are so many unanswered questions! Are they afraid of not liking the answers? If so, it means they know not much more than we do, perhaps even less, like Putin, perhaps! And the BBC is acting just like Russian TV – a mouth piece for those in power.

Some ruminations towards an answer to the question “What is to be done?”:
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
Malaysia Airlines flight MH17
Malaysia Airlines flight MH4 flew over Syria yesterday.
What is there in common here? A hypothesis: muslim pilots willing to take suicidal orders.
In England, what recourse do we have to current resources and to our historical resources to dismantle or radically reduce in a civilised way the hostile community with the vicious islamic ideology which threatens our national life?
1. Current Resources:
The National Lottery – this is the means to raise a massive capital account to fund the emigration by persuasion of a substantial proportion of the muslim population. What political will is there to accomplish this…?
2. Historical Resources – The medieval law of banishment
KING RICHARD II
Norfolk, for thee remains a heavier doom,
Which I with some unwillingness pronounce:
The sly slow hours shall not determinate
The dateless limit of thy dear exile;
The hopeless word of ‘never to return’
Breathe I against thee, upon pain of life.
THOMAS MOWBRAY
A heavy sentence, my most sovereign liege,
And all unlook’d for from your highness’ mouth:
A dearer merit, not so deep a maim
As to be cast forth in the common air,
Have I deserved at your highness’ hands.
The language I have learn’d these forty years,
My native English, now I must forego:
And now my tongue’s use is to me no more
Than an unstringed viol or a harp,
Or like a cunning instrument cased up,
Or, being open, put into his hands
That knows no touch to tune the harmony:
Within my mouth you have engaol’d my tongue,
Doubly portcullis’d with my teeth and lips;
And dull unfeeling barren ignorance
Is made my gaoler to attend on me.
I am too old to fawn upon a nurse,
Too far in years to be a pupil now:
What is thy sentence then but speechless death,
Which robs my tongue from breathing native breath?
KING RICHARD II
It boots thee not to be compassionate:
After our sentence plaining comes too late.
THOMAS MOWBRAY
Then thus I turn me from my country’s light,
To dwell in solemn shades of endless night.
KING RICHARD II
Return again, and take an oath with thee.
Lay on our royal sword your banish’d hands;
Swear by the duty that you owe to God–
Our part therein we banish with yourselves–
To keep the oath that we administer:
You never shall, so help you truth and God!
Embrace each other’s love in banishment;
Nor never look upon each other’s face;
Nor never write, regreet, nor reconcile
This louring tempest of your home-bred hate;
Nor never by advised purpose meet
To plot, contrive, or complot any ill
‘Gainst us, our state, our subjects, or our land.
HENRY BOLINGBROKE
I swear [on the Koran].
What political will is there to accomplish this…?
Meanwhile, what are we going to do about the war mongering?
What position has the loyal opposition taken on the anti-Russian hysteria in government and media in the United Kingdom?
Just adding my voice to the general acclamation welcoming Frank back!
Welcome back Frank, and it is definitely Frank.

Funny you should mention it, but by a complete coincidence we have the DM headline:
Did Russia kill Alexander Litvinenko? Britain increases heat on Putin with public inquiry into 2006 death of ex-KGB spy
What do they know that we don’t? That they know even less than we think they know?
RobertC @ 09:50
Agreed, Robert, but Baron fears bigger forces are at play here, we will never get the real truth of what happened to the plane.
The possibility that a jihadist plot may be at play in this tragedy cannot be fully discounted. The downing of the plane would have achieved two things: the death of many infidels and the heightened infighting of two infidel tribes, both of whom inflicted hurt and damage on Islam (Putin in Chechnya, the West in Iraq, Afghanistan elsewhere).
RobertC @ 14:47
Baron believes then, believes still it was the score settling between different factions of the KGB, and it may well be Putin was a part of of of them.
Welcome back Frank P. Any news on Verity? It would be superb to hear from her again.
I can’t help thinking of the similarities between jimmy saville and Islam.

John Birch – 16:33
And, to put it vaguely, the abusers and the abused are from the similar sections of their societies.
The BBC are being ‘indifferent’ to both.
The list goes on!
The hysteria over the Malawian air crash is being ceaselessly ramped up by a bunch of blundering fools who do not know what it is they are doing. In July 1914, nobody thought there would be a war, until it was too late, and here, in 2014 there is a distinct chance of repetition. The EU is poking its nose into an area where it has no business, and certainly no knowledge of the history of the area. That part of the World was the home, in the 9th. century of the Kievan Rus, their leader, Prince Oleg moved his capital to Kleve for greater security. This was the precursor of the Russian state. Oleg was of the Rurik dynasty which ruled Russia until the death of Ivan IV. Russians can legitimately claim Ukraine as their ancestral homeland, which is rather more than the Americans can do for Louisiana.
The EU’S new imperator has expressed his wish for a European army, and the British would certainly go along with this idiocy. Now, lets go back to Ukraine. If a European army had been in place, would Junk the Drunk have marched it off to the boarders of Russia? Quite possibly, and who would have been in the front line? our boys, and that is a racing certainty. We can not under any circumstances allow ourselves to be roped into another European war not of our making and concerning people we have scarcely heard of and in whom we ave no interest.

So it’s Obarmy, or is it Obozo, calling the shots!
I didn’t realise that ‘we’, Baroness Ashton and the rest of the EU, have been on a war footing against Russia, ever since the EU signed the ever closer accord with the Ukraine, if not before!
The anti-Putin rhetoric has been prepared beforehand – here is some I made earlier.
I thought we had enough interesting projects inside our borders.
stephen maybery @ 17:22
An honest take on the situation in Ukraine, stephen, and based on some solid knowledge, too.
And you’re so right, an European Army under the control of the lookalikes of the kissing Baroness without any democratic control would be a disaster. We’ve lost enough lives of young boys and girls in adventures we shouldn’t have been involved in, and for what?
Latest:
The US Intelligence Agency says no direct involvement by Kremlin in the tragedy, but they believe the rocket was fired very likely from the area controlled by the rebels, the rebels may have downed the plane by mistake.
The blitz on Putin lasted four days, most of the papers put the blame squarely on him. You click on the DM today after the US Intelligence report, there is nothing on the front page on the report absolving Putin, nothing on the Donbass region, the rebels, the downing of the plane except for another criticism of the pro-Russian rebels for not recovering all the bodies. That’s the objectivity of the MSM media. Sickening. Putin should sue the bastards, donate the money to the relatives of the tragedy. That would be a smart PR move.
Also, apparently the French President called the boy publicly a hypocrite. He, the boy, has asked the French to cancel a contract for some piece of a naval hardware. The President said he had evidence Britain has approached the Russian, told them we would do the job instead. This, of course, makes sense, there would jobs galore for us, but what a bunch, ha?

Here is a link:
U.S. Officials: No Evidence Of Direct Russian Link To Malaysia Plane Crash
“WASHINGTON (AP) — Senior U.S. intelligence officials say they have no evidence of direct Russian government involvement in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.
They say the passenger jet was likely felled by an SA-11 surface-to-air missile fired by Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine and that Russia “created the conditions” for the downing by arming the separatists.
The officials briefed reporters Tuesday under ground rules that their names not be used in discussing intelligence related to last week’s air disaster, which killed 298 people.
They said they didn’t know if any Russians were present at the missile launch, and they wouldn’t say that the missile crew was trained in Russia.
A senior official said the most likely explanation was the plane was shot down by mistake.”

And who created the conditions for the diversion of the flight into a war zone?
Inducement
http://www.natlotcomm.gov.uk/about-the-national-lottery.html
indicates that £31 billion is available for good causes. It is not clear if this is an estimated annual figure and of course the amount might be expected to be increased significantly if dedicated in advance to a really, really, really good cause such as funding muslim subjects to emigrate to a muslim country.
Banishment
Banishment as an extension of outlawry was particularly successful in the 18th century as the subsequent national development of North America and Ausralia attest.
This would be the means to reduce the criminal element in the muslim population in England and of course the establishment of penal colonies in the target territories would not be a component.

Interesting comments after this story.
Attitudes are definitely hardening with this Islam problem.
John Birch,
Thanks for the link John, the article was one more nail in the coffin of multiculturism, but what I really enjoyed was the comments, the voice of the people for once was allowed to shine through, this in itself was a milestone. I have said for many a year that the British are angry, very angry at what is being done to their traditions and to their country. Trouble is brewing, sooner than rather than later it is going to break out. This will be a messy business, such events always are, but we Brits are not accustomed to losing, when we start something we finish it, as Hitler and before him Napoleon found out to their cost.
The worms are coming out of the wood work in regard to the Malaysian air disaster, as I said earlier, this is more Dogger bank Incident than Sarajevo and it seems reasonably certain that there is an Ukrainian version of Col. Dragutin (Apis) somewhere in the background.
RobertC @ 00:08
Thanks, Robert.
The DM has completely ignored the briefing, instead has Simon, the stunted dwarf Heffer, on the front page ranting about the West’s, or rather the big beasts of Western Europe, dealings with the evil Russians. Nope, no longertrue, sorry, Baron has just checked, the Heffer’s piece lasted as front cover just a couple of hours, it has been pushed back to the Heffer’s blog, most likely because of some of the comments it attracted.
To give the man some credit, he, of course, makes a valid point, the West would prostrate itself for money and jobs, but then this has always been so, who amongst today’s politicians will close an eye, give preference to some abstract principle if jobs are at stake, they are quite precious as it is, to lose some deliberately for, quite frankly, grandstanding reasons would be unforgivable. Perhaps rightly so for sooner or later ww’ll continue to wow the Russian oligarchs again (remember Lord Peter on a yacht with Deripaska or whatever the name was?), beg them to bring some more of their illicitly gains, invest more, buy more houses, contribute to party funds …. The hypocrisy of it makes one sick.
The questions around MH17 have still not been fully answered and now that the USA believe that Putin didn’t ‘push the button’, it is jaw droppingly amazing to see this:
“The EU is preparing further sanctions against Russia for backing Ukraine’s separatists, who are accused by the West of shooting down a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane.”

RobertC @ 10:30
The shooting of the plane is just the pretext to hit Russia, Robert, a disguise for what really irks the anointed elite: it’s payback time for Syria, other ‘crimes’ like that, and the popularity the KGB colonel enjoys both in Russia (86% approval rating after Crimea, lower now though), and in the US where twice the number of people think he’s more effective as a national leader than the messiah (even the Democrats hold the same view by quite a margin).
Apparently, the German Frau has said she isn’t prepared to sacrifice German jobs and prosperity to mollify the messiah’s fake tantrum with the shelf life of days. Baron doesn’t know about you, but he’s beginning to admire her take on things (not only on Russia) more and more. For inst. she overruled the green lobby, let the energy generators burn coal, the ‘brown’ stuff, the worst pollutant ever. Given the power of the green fruitcakes that was quite a courageous thing to do. Why cannot we have leaders who would look after our interests rather than yap about ‘the world community’ and how we must appease it, help it, save it bla bla?

You’re a born optimist, Peter, if you think that what the unwashed believe, prefer, would approve of matter. Baron would be more than pleasantly shocked if the shop were to survive in business after this is over. Why do you think the chap Lee went for it in the first instance? Was he attracted by the quality of its cakes, the proximity of it to his abode, the desire to help the shop to make money ….?
Baron, if the majority of people support ordinary business folk then there is hope. We are being fed a lie that such views are a minority and that everyone supports the imposition of “gay marriage”. While this is the case it is possible to rally the troops. Such a report would not have appeared even a few years ago, and those polled would not have been so honest a few years ago.

I’m glad you have received your copy of GKS. Was the lack of page numbers deliberate? Baron,
A few pointers for you. PPM, all characters are real, including Lady Arabella Clackmannan who in real life did exactly as I said in the book, as did Bonvilston Evans-Prothero, his fate was a prediction on my part which came true, he was discovered with a lorry driver in a car park in Bath.
As for GKS, again much is true, Saddam did shoot the lavatory attendant, and as for the section set in the Turks and Caicos, that is pure reportage, including the incident concerning Ivy Price, I wrote that exactly as told me by the woman it happened to, and it was her husband who took the polaroid and passed it around the island. Again, much of what I predicted has come to pass. As for ending up in a police line up, why do you think I do not publish in England? Have a good laugh old son.
Peaches Geldof may have lied to her husband about her weekly drug tests being clear, an inquest into her death has heard.

Baron,

Malfleur,
An interesting link. More and more is slowly being revealed, and the anti Russian hysteria is becoming less and less justified. It is the old storey, politicians rush in where fools would never dare to tread.
The sickening campaign against Israel continues unabated. Bawling Palestinian women are paraded across our screens along with injured children in order to highlight the wickedness of Israel with never an explanation as to why Israel is attacking Gaza. Palestinians are getting what they have manifestly asked for and the aggression by Israel could stop today if these shining examples of terrorism, Hamas and Fatah ceased their operations to wipe the Israeli state off the face of the map.
That court jester of the “International Community” Ban Ki Moon has now pranced across the stage talking tripe as only he can and calling for talks. That is the trouble with this on going tragedy, too much talk, which the Palestinians use to ramp up their capacity to deliver mayhem. All that is needed to complete this circus is to have Tony Blair topping the bill.

Surely, it has got to the point where the islamic organisations in this country need to be stripped of their privileges, such as charitable status, as every defence of this vile sect is being shown to be an illusion, from ‘grooming’, FGM, pretending to be a religion rather than an ideology, to thighing.
Here is a story, from 2004, that we now see in a very different light:
Erica Connor: driven out of my own school

I wonder how many girls from Britain will be going to ISIL now FGM is to be enforced.
Expect to see women, 47 years old and upwards, in the queue.
Latest:
Arsenij Yatsenyk, the one hand picked by the the American Nuland, the one of the ‘fuck the EU’ fame resigns his post as Prime Minister of the Ukraine.
You won’t see it reporting, or the reasons why.
I have paid little attention to the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, however I’ve just been delighted to hear England’s first gold medal celebrated with the playing of “Jerusalem”.
There has been a lot of discussion over the years as to the proper anthem to be used when England, separately from the United Kingdom, is being honoured.
I could see little reason to deny the cause of “Jerusalem”, played without the words (although all of us will, in our hearts, have been murmuring, “In England’s green and pleasant land.”) to let all of us wallow in the delights of Parry’s magnificent music.
is it just me or has there been a step change in opinions whereby people are now not afraid to openly express anti islamic thoughts – even on national daily paper comment sections?
seems to have changed since this time last year.
if I am right, why has this happened?
Alexsandr, I think that the change is more widespread than just anti-Islamic views. I think it is a sign that the majority have had enough and are aware that they are the majority.
Alexsandr – 19:26
I think the media’s treatment of UKIP in the run up to the Euro elections started the slide, especially as UKIP won! Questions used to be silenced, and many hoped upon hope that, behind the scenes, something of substance was being prepared, but no, it wasn’t!
Cameron’s reshuffle didn’t help matters, with Gove and Paterson being shifted from where they were acting like One Nation Tories, and bringing in women, with such a sexist fanfare, so soon before a General Election that it will be difficult for them to be effective (and become more powerful).
I think ISIL’s rise in the ME, with their enforcement of FGM, a subject that was only belatedly being mentioned in our media only just recently, will allow even more forthright questions to be asked, especially so soon after the Birmingham schools’ report has been published. It has shown that the local Labour MP and Chief Constable who objected to having an outsider conduct the inquiry, are not to be trusted. After the police suppressed reports of white meat grooming for ten years, the scales have fallen from the eyes of the people.
But I think Juncker’s undemocratic election, his arrogance and contempt for opposing views and his quote, ‘When it becomes serious, you have to lie’, along with Cameron’s referendum ‘to stay in the EU at all costs’, and his anti-Russian stance, following the EU elite, tops that! That, along with Cathy Ashton’s, and the EU’s, naivety and arrogance in meddling in the Ukraine. If ever there was an area to leave alone, that was it!
It always used to be ‘the economy’, but national and individual security trumps that!
We now have a third aircraft missing, and our elite are wearing the emperor’s new clothes! They think they can always set the agenda: not now they can’t!
Alexsandr @ 19.26

They’re happy in every country that is not Muslim.

Question, who is providing or paying for the rockets that Hamas constantly barrages Israel with?
David Ossitt,
Who is providing the money for Hamas? It is a no brainer, Saudi and Qatar who are also funding the rebels in Syria. Of course their money comes from us, we buy their oil, cut off this supply line and most of the trouble in the Middle East will fizzle out, but this is a commodity in short supply amongst our political class.
I have learnt two things from this article that I might have already known, but now I know I know it!

1) liberals divide the world into the rational, like themselves, and Science, and the irrational, like everyone else, and religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. It means that any insight from either of these two religions is rejected even before the words are uttered. (I guess all other religions are raised to a higher level due to minority status.) Liberals cannot see what is not visible.
2) liberals investigating an authoritarian culture do not understand the motives of the oppressed- saying what their oppressors want them to say, to survive.

Good one, but you’ve frightened the oorly educated Slav, when he read your posting he thought you had uncovered another error of the language kind, of which there are aplenty in his postings. But you haven’t, have you?
You may recall Baron has told you he had stocke d up mightily on excellent Merlot at Lidl, just a fraction above 3 quid per bootle. Out of the three dozens fewer than ten are left. Their rye bread’s good, too, but they switched to a loaf of smaller size, the new one seems to be baked to a different recipe, is less good, well, not exactly to Baron’s taste.
David Ossitt @ 19:53
Baron has followed the links, he diligently follows every link provided by the Wallsters, he even copied the Hamas Charter for reference, but there isn’t anything about the funding of Hamas. From memory, Baron remembers money coming from Scandinavia, the EU, the US but whether it’s still valid, and for Hamas, the Abbas lot, both he doesn’t know.
stephen maybery @ 20:38
You have any internet link to the Saudi, Qatar, stephen, that would give even speculative figures on the size of it, how it channeled (which banks, where) that sort of stuff? Baron suspects that Western banks may be involved, too.
Baron,
The Western banks are up to their eyeballs in all of this, they all have branches in Saudi, IE Saudi British, Saudi French etc. Saudi British is in actual fact HSBC. Senior members of the royal family have allocations of oil which is sold on the spot market in Amsterdam. The same procedure would be used to fund Hamas, all under the name of dummy companies, nothing in the open. Do not forget that there is little the Western governments will not do to keep the oil sheiks sweet, irrespective of what they may say in public.
RobertC @ 23:05
Good article, Robert, but it won’t change anything even if everyone of the Snow ilk were to read it, memorise it, recite it hourly for the rest of his/her natural life. Baron has come to the view this hatred of the Jews must be inbred in these people, it’s in their DNA, in their blood. No rational argument can shift it.
Baron’s slicing of the Middle East boil rests on a simple, logical, and unarguable proposition: Until the Palestinians create a societal entity that allows for genuine freedom of expression, association, belief, a range of political parties offering different ways of fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian unwashed, a free press …. in short, a kind of a democratic set-up, then Baron cannot but back Israel who has already set up such a construct, even if the Israelis were to go for nuking their enemies.
stephen maybery @ 23:48
If you’re right, stephen, and Baron has no reason to suggest you’re not, then it couldn’t be simpler to put the stop to the killing fields. If the Americans can cut off the Russian banks from raising capital, they should be able to do the same for the likes of Saudi British by saying any bank dealing with them will be fined, cut off from Western capital markets, and voila, the conflict’s solved, no cash to buy the missiles.
Here is a piece of news linked to the MH17 tragedy:
The BBC Ukrainian correspondent gets dispatched to Eastern Ukraine near the place the airline was downed. She talks to the locals, at least three of them are saying, amongst other things, ‘ I looked up, saw a big bang in the skies, another plane flying towards the bang then turns around, flees in the opposite direction’. She files the report, it’s posted on the BBC site. After a couple of hours it disappears from the site, the BBC explains: ‘it didn’t conform to our reporting standards’.
But does taking the report down comply with the BBC Charter? We should be told.
PS: To be frank, Baron suspected Kremlin was making up the presence of another plane so close to the MH17. There of course may have been a plane, it’s a war zone, but not that close. It seems now Putin’s men were not lying about the presence of the SU contraption, the locals just couldn’t have been told, commanded, forced to say so, and since the rebels have no planes, the question is, whose plane was it?
M’Lud Baron,
I do trust that, whilst under the affluence of a Lidl of Fraulein Merkel’s incohol, you are not a donor to this sturdy British institution.
And please don’t take my comment awry, for it is simply meant and in a wry manner.

Russia is reported to have started firing rockets or missiles of some kind into Ukraine today.
Recently, the Russian government had been making moves indicating that it was ratcheting down any show of preparations for direct military action in the area in order to take the wind out of NATO’s propaganda sails.
This latest action however comes amidst reports that the United States is considering the supply of “advisers” to the Ukraine regime. We all know how that played out in Vietnam.
Furthermore, NATO’s El Supremo, the Orwellian or Kubrickian named General Breedlove, is proposing the preparation of a place d’armes close to the Russian border:
“NATO needs to position resources forward on its eastern flank in response to the concerns of nations close to Ukraine.
“Pre-positioned supplies, pre-positioned capabilities and a basing area ready to rapidly accept follow-on forces,” he said.”
http://www.stripes.com/news/nato-commander-equipment-movement-points-to-russian-role-in-plane-crash-1.294700
Finally, there is Senate Bill 2277 named “Russian Aggression Prevention Act of 2014” working its way through Congress to becoming part of the law of the United States.
https://beta.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/senate-bill/2277/text
In this context, Russia may have decided that they need to act before the United States and NATO are too thoroughly embedded.
Whether Germany will go along with this NATO policy is a serious question. I would also hope that the British parliament would make its own views on this adventure clear to the British government.
What we should perhaps focus on is the question of what vital interest of Britain’s, if any, is threatened by current Russian foreign policy. I do not think that the rhythms of the old mantra of “the domino effect” will hypnotise many. One hopes not anyhow… You will have to do better than that.

Good question on who is paying for Hamas’ rocketry.
I think the question should be broadened so that we have a map of who is buying what arms for whom world-wide.
Maybe Noa could adopt a nom de paix and start a preliminary sketch which could be built on over the next few months.
These people are the SOBs who have to be called out together with what are no doubt their state and corporate allies. In particular, if we could find a way to cut off the supply of arms to the towel heads of all descriptions, how happy we should be.
Reseach into this would of course uncover some strange bedfellows…

After nearly dying of heat stroke, I wrote to Transport for London and finally received the reply, which I have copied below. It is relevant to mention that a young toddler had a convulsion on the bus, and his mother was distraught and almost fainted. The letter the TfL have sent me is nothing but an exercise in Bull Sh*t baffles brains, and I wrote and told them so. I have travelled extensively, and even in countries supposedly less developed than England, I have never experienced such awful public travel conditions. What is the opinion of other Coffee House Wallers?
RE: Temperature Complaint – route 9 & 10
Thank you for your email on 17 July 2014 regarding the temperature on the vehicles operating on routes 9 and 10.
We conduct regular monitoring of the vehicles in our fleet throughout the year. This includes making journeys on double deck buses, including the new route master (NRM), to check aspects of vehicle performance and design – including heating and air cooling systems. Any issues found are reported to the operating companies for additional maintenance. The most recent checks took place in early June in time for the warmer summer temperatures. In addition, all operators are expected to check the functioning of heating and ventilation systems as part of their routine maintenance processes.
The NRM has been designed with a thermostatically-controlled heating system that, combined with fixed windows, make it easier to raise and cool temperatures depending on the ambient conditions on the upper deck. The system used also reduces the energy demands from the engine. Further refinements have been made since the introduction of vehicles to route 24 last year to increase air flow on the upper and lower decks of subsequent production vehicles.
We aim to strike a balance between providing reasonable comfort in normal summer conditions and minimising exhaust emissions from the fleet. Due to the nature of bus journeys, cooled air will be lost from the vehicle as the bus stops frequently along its route and opens all three doors. Buses cannot regulate temperatures in the same way as coaches or trains, which stop less often and tend to involve longer overall journey times for passengers.
Recently operators of NRMs have been issued with a manufacturer spring-time check list to assist with servicing of the heating and air cooling system. This will provide greater assurance of the maintenance processes to be followed to ensure performance of the system is at an optimal level.
If you travel on a particular bus that is especially hot and you believe that the air cooling system is not working, please make a note of the details and email us back. Details that prove invaluable when trying to identify a specific vehicle are the route number and vehicle registration. With these details we will be able to contact the relevant operators, who will investigate and resolve any mechanical issues.
If you have any further questions then please don’t hesitate to get back in touch by replying to this email or by calling our customer service number 0343 222 1234.
Kind regards,

Baron,
I do not think the Germans, regarding Turkey, had a greater ration of prescience than anyone else, just a case that they looked, saw and recognised the picture for what it is. Too many, especially the English nomenklatura, see only what they want to see, a peculiarity which has lead to many of our current problems, the Germans with their large population of guest arbeiter are eyeball to eyeball with the problem. There are two kinds of Turk, the westernised citizens of Constantinople, and those from the hinterland, for whom time stopped at the battle of Manzikert (1070).
Malfleur,
Strange bedfellows indeed. Nothing is what it seems in that part of the World. As Alexandre said, follow the money. I doubt the Saudis et al, are familiar with the term danegelt, but you can bet your shirt they are paying it, they might loath Hamas but they have to take cognoscente of the wider Arab World. Its a tortuous web we weave when first we labour to deceive.

“…Whether Germany will go along with this NATO policy is a serious question. I would also hope that the British parliament would make its own views on this adventure clear to the British government…”
After America, (there’s a cheap plug for you, Mr Steyn!) Germany is the dominant ‘sotto voce’ in NATO and continues, consistantly, to pursue the foreign policy in the East first outlined by Otto Von Bismarck and evidenced in the first treaty of Brest Litovsk. (see Peter Hitchen’s blog in the Daily Mail this week for a quick history catch up)
Regretably, Britain’s opinions and voice in this deadly serious matter are no longer our own to misjudge, as they were in 1914 and 1938, but are given to us by our political masters in Washington and Berlin, albeit in the latter case by the roundabout route of Brussels.
Anne,
The situation on the transport is horrendous in the summer. I will not go near the underground in the hot weather. The reply you got from TFL is typical of the official gobbledygook that is dished out by such bodies. The problem is these sealed windows, before, we had windows which you could open and were a dam side more efficient in cooling the vehicle. Of course, the cooling systems would be more effective if the authorities were more concerned with the comfort of their passengers than with the emissions from the motors, but we can not have that can we, we would end up with a third world transport system and no one would die of heat stroke to save the planet.
Anne,
P.S. Take care.
Not entirely topical but… a British soldier currently lies in jail on sentanced as a murderer because he did what a thousand soldiers in the 14th Army did in 1944/45, by taking no chances and puting a bullet into the presumed corpse of an enemy, in-in this case an enemy dressed not in the uniform of the Imperial Japanese Army, but a combatant in civilian clothing, a ‘francc-tireur’ who under mailitary law, could be shot out of hand.
I’m drafting a letter in reply to my ‘tory’ MP, pro EU Cameroon that he is, but would welcome any thoughts or contributions from ‘the Wall’.
The letter from my MP
” Dear Noa,
You contacted me some time ago asking for my support in obtaining the early release of Sergeant Alexander Blackman. It has come to my attention that a response has not been sent to your email, for which I apologise.
The armed Forces were deployed in afghanistan to defend those who cannot defend themselves and to show, by example, a higher standard than Afghans had experienced under the Taliban. When we do things that dehumanize our opponents we start to loose the moral high ground. He brought his Corp and his country into disrepute and I cannot support anything that would see him released early. Having seen the effect of war at first hand, I know how tempting it can be to take revenge or to view those outside the base as somehow lesser than ones brothers in arms. That is wht the responsibility of leadership is an onerous one, but one that non-commissioned Officers and Officers must take seriously.
I am sorry that we disagree on this matter.

Why is the pass available to sixty yearolds in Wales and Scotland? simple, they are being transformed into socialist paradises courtesy of the English taxpayers.. I’ll say one thing, I certainly know how to cheer folks up.
Bus passes? I’m over 60, live in England and have one.
Unfortunately I can ‘t use it because I’m in work 2 hours before it becomes operative.
The crunch is heading towards New England:

UKIP in the N.E. are having a good laugh.Cameron was on local radio yesterday saying how things were getting better on Tyneside. The presenter had to stop him and tell him he was on BBC Radio Tees.(Only some 30 miles out!)
Radford NG,
Now be reasonable there boy. What’s 30 miles to the metropolitan elite? They have more important things to occupy their minds with than a little local geography. There’s Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, climate change not to mention a looming election. These are far more important then a few miles in the North East. As for the electors of that region, a few false promises and the loons will come round, I mean to say, they always have in the past and they would never vote for that common oaf Farage, not when there is an Etonian on the menu.
‘Industrial-scale fraud’ in mayor’s victory
Labour rival of Lutfur Rahman, the extremist-linked mayor of Tower Hamlets, says he saw ballot papers at the count where a vote for him, or candidates supporting him, had been crossed out and a different vote written in
The dossier alleges that:
* Bengali voters, especially women, were intercepted by Mr Rahman’s supporters outside polling stations, then “accompanied” into the polling booths and “directed how to vote”.
* In Lansbury ward, Labour votes were “crossed out” on ballot papers and “Tower Hamlets First [Mr Rahman’s party] votes entered with a different colour pen”.
* In Weavers ward, the Labour votes “appeared to have been erased” on a “substantial number” of postal ballot papers.
* Count agents for Whitechapel ward “reported that many postal ballots [and the accompanying declarations of identity] appeared to have been completed in the same handwriting”.
* The counting venue, a converted cinema, was owned by the partner of one of Mr Rahman’s key allies.

The following arrived in the email from friend in Singapore. It may be politically incorrect. I hope so:
Boer goes to see an English speaking lawyer in order to start divorce proceedings.
The lawyer asks him, “May I help you?”
The Boer says, “Ja. I would like to have a divorce.”
The lawyer asks him, “Do you have any grounds?”
The Boer says, “Ja. I got 600 hektyres.”
The lawyer says, “Sir, you don’t understand. Do you have a suit?
The Boer says, “Ja. Of course I got a suit. I wore it to church on Sundays.”
The lawyer says, “Ahmm. No, what I mean sir, is, do you have a case?”
The Boer says proudly, “Now let me tell you there are no tractors like CASE, I’ve got 2.”
The lawyer is beginning to sweat. “Sir. Do you have a grudge?”
The Boer’s also a bit irritated by now. “Ja man, I of course I got a grudge.
That’s where I park the Hilux.”
The lawyer, sighing, asks, “Does your wife beat you up or something?”
The Boer says, “No, we both get up at 04:30.”
By now the lawyer is getting really frustrated, but tries one last question “Does your wife nag? Is she a nagger?”
The Boer says, “No, No, man SHE’S white. But our last child is a nagger.
That’s why I wants to get a divorce.”

I thin k that the following sums up the essence of the struggle betweeen Israel and the unholy alliance of islam and the left:
“Breitbart’s war correspondent in Israel, Tera Dahl, disagrees with the Obama administration and the mainstream media’s view that the current battle between Israel and Hamas is a fight between two equal states.
“There is a big difference,” she asserts. “Israel is fighting for the protection of its people and its country.” According to Dahl, who is embedded with the Israeli Dense Force (IDF), “Hamas is not fighting for the protection of the Palestinian people; they are fighting for the destruction of Israel and for the advance of the global caliphate.” ….”
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/07/26/Breitbart-Israel-%20War-Correspondent-Hamas-Goal-is%20-Global-Caliphate
Quite where the left sees its future in this scenario is anyone’s guess. I suspect it is not something which the left has contemplated too closely.
The Reverend Andrew White, the brave and noble Anglican vicar in Iraq has by contrast contemplated the future of his faith in the region:
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/07/26/Anglican-Vicar-Says-End-of-Christianity-in-Iraq-is-Very-Near
The news does not yet appear to have reached Canterbury whose sentimental, pusillanimous heart has adopted the “Palestinian” cause.
In the early pages of his book, De Bello Gallico,Julius Caesar, speaking of one of the tribes of Gaul whose ambitions he was soon to master, mentions a tribal leader who “… incited by lust of sovereignty, was anxious for a revolution, and wished to have as many states as possible attached to him by his kindness to them…”.
Incited by the lust of sovereignty…Islam, the EU, the United States,…

Just as well really, otherwise I would have had to let the chauffeur go. And who would clean the Roller then, I ask? Certainly not his Thai export bride Lucy De Light, who would leave with him.

Hard to believe, Robert, the video, even after one’s seen it with one’s own eyes. How could this happen? Did they leave the vest because they couldn’t remove it, as a sign of respect for the man, as a tool of control of the virgins he were to meet …Mind boggling.
The Sunday papers, at the least the ones Baron gets, are suggesting lawyers are preparing a legal case against Vlad, hoping to file it soon, sue the Kremlin man for billions.
This, actually, may do the trick, provided they gather enough evidence, convince the court Putin was personally involved. On the former, there is very little, or at least Baron has seen little of any specifics. But why isn’t there more but general statements? If he has billions stashed away in Swiss bank accounts (whether under his own name, the name of proxies, companies), it shouldn’t be beyond the capability of the CIA to get to the bottom of it. A scribble named Judah has a short piece in the ST also claiming Putin has billions hidden away in case he has to flee the country in a hurry, but it’s just claims, nothing specific.
Baron rather doubts the lawyers can win, not even our politicised courts may go that far, the defence will argue the Donetsk area is a war zone, the culpability lies with those who allowed the plane to fly over it and stuff like that. The court case, if successful, would also set a precedence that could backfire. Is this something our ‘regime change’ leaders can allow?
We shall see.

Reading largely between the lines of the story in this disgraceful news, it appears that the increase in the abuse of British Jews on the streets of the country is the result of muslim incitement and agitation allied to left-wing fascism.

The main political parties (and the Liberal Party) are collaborators in a failure to condemn the criminal platform on which islamic ideology rests. One might speculate that the overall failure to articulate support for the besieged and savaged Christians among those who remain in the Middle East outside of Israel is because by implication this would be seen as a condemnation of islam to which offence shall not be given.
The only street movement to express condemnation of islamic practices and ideology, and support for these on the left, while also openly expressing its support for Israel is the English Defence League – correct me if I have missed some organizations out. Those on this Wall whose delicate feelings were repulsed by the coarse leadership of the EDL under Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll have contributed to the outrageous abuse of freedom of speech and assembly by the RedGreen fascists.
.
The case for using National Lottery funds to export muslims in style (and anti-semitic leftists) to climes less green and pleasant but more suited to their world-view and to banish those muslims who break our laws (while we have them) that include those which make it a crime to incite murder and violence is no less strong for its present lack of support.
Do we expect to educate the muslim out of the criminal agit prop of the Koran or the anti-semitic leftist out of his Stalinist perspective?
Does anyone have a better idea before all good people are drowned in this tide of aggressive nihilism?

Kevin Myers (born 30 March 1947) is an Irish journalist and writer. He writes for the Irish edition of the Sunday Times, having previously been a columnist for the Irish Independent and a former contributor to The Irish Times, where he wrote the “An Irishman’s Diary” opinion column several times weekly. Until 2005, he wrote for the UK Sunday Telegraph. His articles criticise left-wing opinion and the “liberal consensus,” sometimes incorporating hyperbole, sarcasm and parody.
This essay recently appeared in The Irish Independent:
Somalia is not a humanitarian disaster; it is an evolutionary disaster. The current drought is not the worst in 50 years, as the BBC and all the aid organisations claim.
It is nothing compared to the droughts in 1960/61 or 73/74.
And there are continuing droughts every 5 years or so.
It’s just that there are now four times the population; having been kept alive by famine relief, supplied by aid organisations, over the past 50 years. So, of course, the effects of any drought now, is a famine. They cannot even feed themselves in a normal rainfall year.
Worst yet, the effects of these droughts, and poor nutrition in the first 3 years of the a child’s life, have a lasting effect on the development of the infant brain, so that if they survive, they will never achieve a normal IQ . Consequently, they are selectively breeding a population, who cannot be educated , let alone one that is not being educated; a recipe for disaster
We are seeing this impact now, and it can only exacerbate, to the detriment of their neighbours, and their environment as well. This scenario can only end in an even worse disaster; with even worse suffering, for those benighted people, and their descendants. Eventually, some mechanism will intervene, be it war, disease or starvation.
So what do we do? Let them starve? What a dilemma for our Judeo/ Christian Ethos; as well as Hindu/Buddhist morality. And this is beginning to happen in Kenya, Ethiopia, and other countries in Asia, like Pakistan. Is this the beginning of the end of civilisation?
AFRICA is giving nothing to anyone outside Africa — apart from AIDS and new disease. Even as we see African states refusing to take action to restore something resembling civilisation in Zimbabwe, the Begging bowl for Ethiopia is being passed around to us out of Africa, yet again. It is nearly 25 years since the famous Feed The World campaign began in Ethiopia, and in that time Ethiopia’s population has grown from 33.5 million to 78+ million today. So, why on earth should I do anything to encourage further catastrophic demographic growth in that country? Where is the logic? There is none.
To be sure, there are two things saying that logic doesn’t count. One is my conscience, and the other is the picture, yet again, of another wide-eyed child, yet again, gazing, yet again, at the camera, which yet again, captures the tragedy of children starving.
Sorry. My conscience has toured this territory on foot and financially. Unlike most of you, I have been to Ethiopia; like most of you, I have stumped up the loot to charities to stop starvation there. The wide-eyed boy-child we saved, 20 years or so ago, is now a low IQ, AK 47-bearing moron, siring children whenever the whim takes him, and blaming the world because he is uneducated, poor and left behind. There is no doubt a good argument why we should prolong this predatory and dysfunctional economic, social and sexual system but I do not know what it is. There is, on the other hand, every reason not to write a column like this. It will win no friends, and will provoke the self-righteous wrath of, well, the self-righteous, hand wringing, letter writing wrathful individuals, a species which never fails to contaminate almost every debate in life with its sneers and its moral superiority.
So be it.
But, please, please, you self-righteously wrathful, spare me mention of our own Irish Famine, with this or that lazy analogy. There is no comparison. Within 20 years of the Famine, the Irish population was down by 30%. Over the equivalent period, thanks to western food, the Mercedes 10-wheel truck and the Lockheed Hercules planes, Ethiopia’s population has more than doubled.
Alas, that wretched country is not alone in its madness.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, lies Somalia, another fine land of violent, AK 47-toting, khat-chewing, girl-circumcising, permanently tumescent layabouts, and housing pirates of the ocean. Indeed, we now have almost an entire continent of sexually hyperactive, illiterate indigents, with tens of millions of people who only survive because of help from the outside world or allowances by the semi-communist Governments they voted for, money supplied by lending it from the World Bank!
This dependency has not stimulated political prudence or commonsense. Indeed, voodoo idiocy seems to be in the ascendant, with the president of South Africa being a firm believer in the efficacy of a little tap water on the post-coital penis as a sure preventative against AIDS infection. Needless to say, poverty, hunger and societal meltdown have not prevented idiotic wars involving Tigre, Uganda, Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea etcetera. Broad brush-strokes, to be sure. But broad brush-strokes are often the way that history paints its gaudier, if more decisive, chapters. Japan, China, Russia, Korea, Poland, Germany, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in the 20th century have endured worse broad brush-strokes than almost any part of Africa.
They are now — one way or another — virtually all giving aid to or investing in Africa, whereas Africa, with its vast savannahs and its lush pastures, is giving almost nothing to anyone, apart from AIDS.
Meanwhile, Africa’s peoples are outstripping their resources, and causing catastrophic ecological degradation. By 2050, the population of Ethiopia will be 177 million; the equivalent of France, Germany and Benelux today, but located on the parched and increasingly Protein-free wastelands of the Great Rift Valley. So, how much sense does it make for us actively to increase the adult population of what is already a vastly over-populated, environmentally devastated and economically dependent country?
How much morality is there in saving an Ethiopian child from starvation today, for it to survive to a life of brutal circumcision, poverty, hunger, violence and sexual abuse, resulting in another half-dozen such wide-eyed children, with comparably jolly little lives ahead of them? Of course, it might make you feel better, which is a prime reason for so much charity!
But that is not good enough.
For self-serving generosity has been one of the curses of Africa. It has sustained political systems which would otherwise have collapsed. It prolonged the Eritrean-Ethiopian war by nearly a decade. It is inspiring Bill Gates’ programme to rid the continent of malaria, when, in the almost complete absence of personal self-discipline, that disease is one of the most efficacious forms of population-control now operating. If his programme is successful, tens of millions of children who would otherwise have died in infancy will survive to adulthood, he boasts.
Oh good: then what? I know, let them all come here (to Europe) or America. (not forgetting Australia!)
Yes, that’s an idea.
I would add that they are already invading Europe by the boatload. Thousands of thuggish, intellectually-challenged economic migrants, determined to settle in and sponge off the efforts of the white man. Playing the slavery card to invoke liberal guilt, the pictures from Lampadusa remind me of the scenes in Lord of the Rings where the Orc hordes stream across the landscape destroying all with their mindless thuggery and ugliness.
If Gates, Geldoff and Greenpeace really cared for the planet, they would promulgate and support plans to reduce the population of Africa.

Our local BBC radio station is telling us that, after the reclassification of khat, the local Somali women are rejoicing that they are ‘getting their men back’, presumably the men are less drugged.
After reading your post, I wonder if that is a good result.
It isn’t often that posters under Guardian articles lay into the Labour Party as strongly as they have done here. The problem is this sexist quote from Yvette Cooper that also ignores domestic violence in ‘gay’ relationships:
“Labour has promised to bring in a violence against women and girls bill that would end the use of community resolutions in cases of domestic violence.”

It looks like many believe that there are sufficient laws, but they don’t get enforced, the law should be ‘gender’ neutral, controlling behaviour by continually generating new law devalues the law, lowering the threshold for unacceptable behaviour will turn the law into farce and overload the justice system and, oh, there is a general election next year. And all this is in the Guardian!
Reading about the horrific Fracking, even the name strikes a chill in my heart, I have wondered who will get rich on the destruction of our land. Obviously, first the big beasts, but I doubt that the oil, gas, whatever will remain in their hands for very long. Like every other National possession, it will be sold off to the highest foreign bidder, leaving Britain bereft of not only fuel, but more importantly of natural beauty and the next generation finding lands destroyed.

Slightly off topic, but I once played cricket against Kevin Myers in Phoenix Park, Dublin about 20 years ago. He was a model of sanity then, bowling gentle dibbly-dobblers, and seems to remain so. As Frank P. suggests, Myers has looked long into the abyss which, as Nietzche cheerfully opined, gazes back at us with implacable hostility.
You can, though, sense we’re all headed towards some sort of catharsis.
