This is the Coffee House Wall for this week. I won’t say that it is your chance to communicate with us, as we are all in this together. It is, nevertheless, the Conservative Blog post that has no particular theme, and where everything is on topic. Let’s just remember that we want to avoid ad hominem attacks on others. We don’t want to engage with trolls. We want to moderate our language ourselves as responsible and mature adults, choosing to use fruity language only where it is necessary. This is our opportunity to show what the Spectator Coffee House Wall could have been like.
Please consider supporting the Coffee House Wall by making a donation of whatever amount, to fund the running of the site using the Paypal donation button provided.
Your support is needed, without it the Coffee House Wall can’t function. Please consider a donation of even just £5.
Sorry for the delay in posting the new wall. I had a funeral to attend yesterday.
And thanks to those who contributed to the running of the site over the last few days. It is much appreciated.
As the poppy memorial grows apace it offends all the right (sorry left) people.
The crazy thing is their biggest objection to it. They hate its patriotism.
As Jonathan Jones on the Guardian said: It’s disturbing that in the 21st century that we are still only commemorating our dead and not Germans or Russians”.
Ridiculous lefties seem to have any idea that all our freedoms came as a result of patriotic people fighting to make their home a better place. No patriotism, no progress.
Incidentally, theres a great post laying into the Guardian’s art critic called “the Essential Virtue” at:

Dear, dear, we must be shtoom! Mustn’t be accused of racism must we?
The MSM have been busy on behalf of Mo’s Bros today: a succession of Muslim activists have been paraded before the cameras saying that the beheadings of the journalists and aid workers by ISIS have in fact been beneficial as it has put many of them off going to Syria and Iraq to join the jihad. So the relatives of the victims should be happy that they didn’t die in vain, they posit. Thank you for those words of wisdom RoP. Beneficial for whom? The more of you who leave and become bomb fodder for our Tornados the better. Piss-taking douche bags! And that’s the just the media twats who give them air-time. There are no words to describe the Islamic filth that proffer this propaganda with the aid of the traitors within our media.
On second thoughts, yes there are: demented, devious, dirty, deluded, barbaric bastards with shit-for-brains. I’m sure Wallsters can better those submissions to start the ball rolling – come on now, what am I bid?
And then there’s this from the inimitable Daniel Greenfield:

And now for something different:

This fella reminds me of PC Arthur Webb, who used to keep Piccadilly Circus traffic flowing in the 50s with just sheer presence and a pair of trafffic gauntlets, before the advent of one-ways systems, automatic traffic lights and Boris Johnson.
Bloody marbleous!
I see that Bonnie Greer is criticising Griff Rhys-Jones for opposing Miliband’s mansion tax. The problem I have is that she is not British, although I accept she has gained British citizenship. And so I’d rather she didn’t tell us all how we should run our own country. She has told Rhys-Jones he should give his house to the NHS or the homeless.

When will we listen to Blair and get boots on the ground
A ‘price list’ for Yazidi and Christian women and child slaves abducted by ISIS militants as spoils of war has been unveiled.
The terror organisation recently boasted of enslaving women from the Iraqi ethnic minority.
According to the document, obtained by website Iraqinews.com, just £27 will fetch a Yazidi or Christian woman aged between 40 and 50.
Chillingly, a child between one and nine will fetch four times that.
The document also states that the slavery market has recently taken a downturn, hitting ISIS’ war chest.

Great news, the government is sending commissioners into Tower Hamlets and most of Lutfer Rahman’s powers have been removed. This is in response to an audit, the results of which have been passed onto the police. Rahman’s days are numbered. When I get more information I will let you all know.
I saw a reference on the previous wall to an abomination called the Fawcett Society.
It reminds me of a flight to India years ago when some yank moron turned to his Sikh neighbour and bellowed, ‘Say Buddy, do you folk have mixing fawcets in your li’l ol’ Injun hotels?’
The Sikh smiled politely and pretended not to understand English. Yank moron (a youthful JJB?) shrugged and opened his ‘Fodor’s Guide’ to quaint li’l ol’ Inja. Which promptly split down the spine.
There is a rather annoying post, among many, at the Telegraph. It suggests that because the Poles are more likely to be working than British people (and this figure for British people certainly includes unemployed migrants and their children) we should somehow stop complaining about migrant numbers. I sent him this email…
It is disappointing that your recent article on hard working Polish workers is not allowing any comments, as seems the case with most Telegraph articles.
You miss the main objection which is not that Poles do not work, but that large numbers of any migrants put great pressure on services, housing and employment. It would seem from your article that if the British population was replaced by a Polish one you would think it a good thing!
The issue is to do with unemployment among many groups, such as Somalis, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Roma. But it is also to do with the scale of migration from many groups who are undoubtedly willing to work. They should be commended for their industry and invited to apply themselves to the success of their own economies.
If it is within your authority to allow comments then please do so. Otherwise your article is simply propaganda for mass immigration.
Thank you
Peter
You can always do what everyone else does and criticise them mercilessly on the next available column, which is usually the latest piece of arrant nonsense from the soviet actress’s boy.
Good to see you volunteering to go and pour more petrol on the flames started by the neo cons of New labour and continued by the coalition.
However ‘responsibility to protect’ begins and ends at home, so you would be better off acquiring some home defence skills in order to prepare for the ghettoisation of your own leafy suburbs.
Having seen such violence at first hand I have nothing but contempt for those who want others to fight their ideas for them.
So, Mr Mucus no longer demanding that we give the “Caliph” a fair hearing, eh?
In the UK, there are any number of groups such as Liberty GB, Storm Front etc, they are like the People’s Front of Judea, the Judean People’s Front in the Life Of Brian. They may or may not know what they’re doing.
None of the get publicity because the government and mainstream media don’t want them to. The government and media are falling over themselves to give publicity to Britain First. In the run-up to poppy day, the narrative is: this is what UKIP has unleashed. In the run-up to the General Election, the narrative is: this is what UKIP has unleashed. In the run-up to Rochester and any other by-elections, the narrative is: this is what UKIP has unleashed.
The Telegraph is at it again today with this propaganda piece:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-one/11207973/The-loathsome-Britain-First-are-trying-to-hijack-the-poppy-dont-let-them.html
The loathsome Britain First are trying to hijack the poppy – don’t let them
Britain First, the neo-fascist organisation, are using the Remembrance poppy to push their racist agenda on social media
Why don’t the Telegraph and other media run similar pieces on Liberty GB and Storm Front? Because Britain First is a security service concoction being used to undermine UKIP via guilt by association. It is manageable – that is why it is being given publicity. And it is manageable because it is run out of the Home Office.
The Telegraph says: “You may not have heard of the pound-shop fascists of Britain First.” Well, no. First mention I ever heard of this group was in the Telegraph. Why do they get special mention over all the other groups. Why were only 35 of these Britain First people headcounted at Rochester? That’s nothing. That is a paid up group of people. Who is paying them. And why? And why all this publicity that other groups don’t get? And why are such stories being run alongside a ‘this is what UKIP represents’ narrative.
Isn’t that their real purpose? As a front organisation to deal with UKIP via bad publicity and then abandoned at will by the Home Office once their hatchet PR job has been done. Isn’t that what Grant Shapps meant when he told Mark Reckless: ‘We’re coming to get you.’
Talking of Balls
The main point under the screaming provocative headline in the Daily Telgraph is hidden but should be the banner headline
The major academic study also found, however, that recent immigration from Europe – driven by the surge in arrivals from eastern European – gave the economy a £4.4 billion boost over the same period.
Put that in your Faragian pipe
A Faragian pipe is a somewhat better prospect than the Tokarev held behind the back of Mucus and his masquerading fellow travellers in the lying Labour party.
But yet again his provocative propaganda cherry picks the news. Whilst immigration from Eastern Europe from 1995 to 2011 might have provided a £4.4 billion boost to the economy, immigration from elsewhere is alleged by the same report to have cost the public purse £I17.9 billion. So the immigration deficit created a net drain of -£113.5 billion. Did that deficit “regenerate is from our torpor”?
“(the report) found that migrants from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) made a negative contribution to the public purse of £117.9 billion because they consumed more in public expenditure – including NHS costs, welfare hand-outs and education – than they contributed in taxes.”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/11209234/Immigration-from-outside-Europe-cost-120-billion.html
In the interests of good taste I’ll refrain from advising Mucus where he should put that piece of corrective information.
And more corrective fare for Mucus to insert accordingly:-
“The authors emphasised their findings on the contribution of European migrants and gave less prominence to the findings on the costs of non-EEA immigration.”
“Sir Andrew Green, chairman of MigrationWatch, said the report confirmed the huge cost of immigration. “As for recent European migrants, even on the authors’ own figures – which we dispute – their contribution to the Exchequer amounts to less than £1 a week per head of population,” he said.”
“David Green, director of Civitas, said the new report suffered from a “shallow focus” which “misses out some vital costs”.
*
“Between 1995 and 2011 the foreign-born population in the UK doubled from 3.5 million to about 7 million. The non-EEA population grew from 2.8 million to 4.6 million during the period. Of those, in 2011, just over two million were not working, either because they were unemployed or for other reasons such as retirement or childcare.”
I know AWK will not lower herself to reply but this is one of the unforeseen consequences of the Cameron Sarkozy actions in Libya
They should have taken the Blair approach
Mucus lies, ignores the corrective and deftly sidesteps to spout another piece of sloganised superficial propaganda on behalf of the wretched Labour party.
Why on earth his nonsense is tolerated here is baffling. Deny him the oxygen and let him stew in frustration that he cannot intervene. He is an agent provocateur, a heckler, a propagandist, and there is no merit or credibility in his ridiculous interventions. Give the marxists an inch and they’ll take one hundred miles.
If you want to defeat the cultural revolution start with Mucus. Proscribe him.
Col. Mustard 08.13 entirely agree with you about the pathetic troll, not only has it competely infested the speccie, but has now taken up residence here. As you say there can be no discourse with this entity; its presence is to bait people, upset, hurt and be an annoyance, there is no intelligence in anything it posts, no sign of real engagement on any issue. But I am not sure it acts on behalf of labour or any kind of body on the left – it may posing as a leftie-marxist as part of its provoking. Who knows it may be trolling elsewhere on leftie blogs as someone to the right. The only way to get rid of it is to starve it.
I agree with the Colonel, withdraw the much abused mandate from Stalin’s snotty.

I guess the question is whether you wish a pluralist site or to see it wither
Colonel,
Well said and I think the overwhelming opinion on the wall is with you. Deport the bugger to Tower Hamlets where he can drown in the diversity he so cherishes.
Abe Miller @ 11:16
As always, an excellent riposte by Moloney, Abe, but he ‘s missing something. The Jones’s rant encompasses the thinking of the progressives beautifully. To try and argue, as Maloney does, that nations are but families, that they are analogous to the blood bonded units, the bricks of a stable, lasting, powerful nation states cannot get him very far. The left-leaning fruitcakes have done everything to dismantle the traditional family, the dismantling of the state follows the same pattern, as does the gutting, re-shaping, or even a full eradication of many old institutions that have been the bridge with the past and hence must be got rid offf.
Let’s just wait and see how far Ukip gets in teaching the Joneses a lesson. If not next year, in the election after.
The bully, Mucus, is you. Neither the Speccie nor this site are free from your continuous interventions, provocations and heckling. There are threads at the Speccie where you have tagged almost every comment with your limited and tedious repertoire of leftist tripe and there is no doubt that you would do that here if the format facilitated it. Your habit of tagging every top comment there has been well noted, the equivalent of pushing to the front of a queue, the act of a bully.
And as SheilaT astutely observes, you do not engage, but just use any response as a vehicle to further propagandise, label or smear anyone who chooses to disagree with your mantra. Spouting dreary marxist slogans is not engagement. It is the forum equivalent of holding a placard and shouting.
Pluralism? You don’t know the meaning of the word. If you had the power you know that you would “proscribe” a dozen or more commentators there. You have told us so many times.
Bully? Yes you are. The most insufferable bully it has ever been my misfortune to encounter.
Far from withering without you this site would be fumigated of blight.
Begone foul thing.

A peep into the future, Anne:
The two gay rapists are found guilty, get sentenced, the judge recommends they be deported. A ‘uman rites’ lawyer gets on the act, argues they will be in danger back in Libya – the ROP doesn’t look kindly on gays including gay rapists – wins the caee, the raping thugs are allowed to stay.

It’s more than two! It involves hundreds! And shame? They have a funny way of showing it.
Sex shame of Libyan soldiers invited to train in UK: Cadets accused of sex attacks. Hundreds sent home. Dozens set to claim asylum
* 300 Libyan soldiers based in thee UK are to be sent home a month early
* Group were stationed at Bassingbourn Barracks – 14 miles from Cambridge
* Two men are charged with raping a male victim in a park after night out
* Two men admitted sex attack on woman a week ago but one man denies it
* It is understood two of the soldiers have since claimed asylum in the UK
* Whole programme training 2,000 soldiers is on hold and may be axed
“Hundreds of Libyans invited to the UK for military training are being sent home amid claims of rape, drunkenness, fighting and theft.
The cadets – hand-picked by the British Army – were supposed to be given leadership skills to help their war-torn country.
Instead they have been allowed to run amok outside their Cambridgeshire barracks, terrifying their neighbours. British troops have been drafted in to restore order.”

telemachus @ 18:08
Boots on the ground again, telemachus? We’ve had alot of boots on the ground in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and we’ve fugged up.
It’s not that you get boots on the ground, it’s what the boots do. In the past when this country called the shot, the boots on the ground were merciless if peace. stability, civil order were threatened, wouldn’t have pulled back from stringing a few culprits.
Since we no longer have the guts to impose aggressively a regime based on our belief system, we would better keep the few boots we still have here.
You may know better, think differently, but Baron’s for as wide a freedom of expression as one can get. Banning stuff is at the bottom of the barbarian’s basket of response tools. Often he starts reading a posting, dislikes it so much, he stops for fear of getting his systolic pressure up, moves along. In no way would he even consider banning the offending narrative.
If we’re free to talk we should be free to talk nonsense, too. We should offend, but accept others can offend us. To tolerate views that resonate with ours comes easy, the hard part of any debate is in tolerating views that pain, but this and only this is the real test of tolerance.

The inmates are certainly controlling the asylum. It is truly heartbreaking, and nobody is doing a bloody thing to stop it.
Sorry, Baron, for the most part I would agree with you but I make an exception of that particular creature. When the interventions represent a malevolent agenda rather than free expression they do not warrant tolerance. Give an inch and a mile is taken.
To a considerable extent that is precisely why we are where we are in this country. Tolerance should not become the open gate that allows the intolerant to shove their way in and deprive us of it.
There is nothing it writes that we do not already know and which is not shoved into our faces in a hundred other places. Removing the offence will not deprive it of expression. If a rude and ruddy fellow stands in the open verandah window and shouts at you in contempt as you are enjoying the Melton Breakfast and engaged in agreeable discourse with family and friends should he be tolerated?
Fine principles are all well and good but not when they become the means by which the enemies of reason and freedom are able to dominate and prevail.

Let it be Peter, freedom of speech and all that, we do not have to read his/her posts.
Apologies for the many errors in the postings, no excuse for them, not even the standard (but pretty feeble) standard plea of poor education ….
A new Nationwide card has arrived today. The first sentence of its short content says exactly the following: ‘We are pleased to send your card ending 2207’.
Hurrah, thought Baron, these people must know something the barbarian doesn’t, a whisper from Him, perhaps, being more careful spending the barbarian’s meagre savings is in order. Then his Alz doped brain engaged, the euphoria vanished. It was the long number of the card that ended 2207.
Still, you must admit the sentence is poor English, it could have said ‘to send your card the number of which ends’ or even better ‘we’re sending you a new card the number of which ends 2207’. You may probably offer an even better wording.
Baron possesses a book of judicial summing ups, it’s a pleasure to read not because of what the presentation of the law says, but because of the framing of it. It may be harsh to compare the language of learned judges of the past with that of a Nationwide employee of today very likely educated in a bog standard comp, but even so, come on, the letter must be going to thousands of Nationwide savers, spending some time formatting the content well would be worth it.

telemachus @ 12:57
Years ago, well before the PC culture got hold of the West, Baron attended a lecture on the Afghan Mujahedeens battling the Soviets. The man doing the talking was a retired, battle worn and very outspoken US colonel. The details of what the talk was all about the barbarian has forgotten, the only thing he remembers was the answer the officer gave to a question ‘what would you do to subdue the cave warriors?’ to which the colonel replied: ‘I would flatten the country, make a parking lot of it’.
Barbarous? Yup, but one wouldn’t have to turn the whole of the Syrian/Iraqi territory controlled by the IS thugs into a parking lot, a chunk would do, and soon you’ll find the rest of the loonies would come to their senses. If not, one would enlarge the parking lot some more …
That’s well said, Colonel, the “fine principles are all well and good, but not when they become the means by which the enemies of reason and freedom are able to dominate and prevail’ except that the Left hasn’t become dominant because of the fine principles, but because the Right has largely adopted the Left’s shibboleths, didn’t oppose them, focused too much on things economic, left the social domain to the fruitcakes to dominate.
Things are changing however. The Republican win over to the west, the rising popularity of Ukip here, the growing anti-EU forces in Europe do suggest that given time common sense can prevail, and will.
RobertC @ 17:06

Just blow harder and discard the tissue (of delusions).
To Have and Have Not 🙂
When New Labour were in office John Prescott’s attempts to split England in to regions (All very EU) fell flat when the North east declined.
Further attempts by the Europhiles to bring in town and city elected mayors all over the place apart from the odd case (Doncaster) were politely declined.
But now they are back with a vengeance, the BBC is full of ideas of more power to the English regions, there is a debate in York tonight on bringing power to Yorkshire by way of a regional assembly, hinting of devolved power all over areas or regions of England.
This must not be allowed to happen, it is only being suggested because England is fed up with both the Barnet formula (he died this week) and the West Lothian question.
In Westminster Scott’s and Welsh MP’s should have no vote and no say on matters concerning only England, the Scott’s and the Welsh are nations and have national assemblies, England is a nation and must not be reduced into tiny parcels with silly local assemblies.
There is massive reporting all around of the claim that between 2004 and 2011 migration from eastern Europe has been beneficial to the tune of £5 billion.
Yet our annual net contribution to the EU budget (ie the non-returnable membership fee ) is £8billion.That is equal to a poll-tax of £2.40p per week on every man, woman and child. It equals £5 to £6 per week on the income-tax,depending how many tax-payers there are.
One of the most egregious lies peddled on the question of immigration is that we need these people. We do not. There are hundreds of thousands of Brits sitting on their arses to idle to work and being subsidised by the hard working taxpayers. There has to come a time when these wasters are told to find gainful employment or starve. The same goes for single mothers who think dropping a litter of bastards is an acceptable career option. Mozart is over and I am back in business.

My daughter “Sybil, you take the apartments over in the east end.””
My son, “Jamie, I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre.”
“Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings on the

And there is one: egotism as the main point of his character, and a gross metaphysical blunder as the starting point of his thinking.”
Mid-term elections were held in the USA earlier this week..
I have not been able to monitor Alex Jones’s report and comments on this event which seems to have escaped the attention of the Wall. That is because I am in Thailand.
The Thai government has blocked access to the Alex Jones Show online. My guess is that the reason for this is that the Thai military government is of a mind with Baron in opposing ranting in all its forms.
This has not, I am glad to say, impeded access of western liberals here to a full range of coffees from a mocha to a macchiato.
Moreover, the decision of the Thai military to make a feature film dramatising the ability of buddhists and muslims to find community in diversity on the country’s southern border, where of course nothing is happening, is not felt to be inconsistent with its other decision to withhold distribution of the movie.
Move along, please, nothing to see here.
I think I’ll have another cappuccino.

Thailand by the way, especially where it is most Thai (but plus coffee, German and English breakfasts and generous access online) is my favourite country in Asia with especial emphasis on its provincial cities – though I have yet to visit the Laotian capital, Luang Prabang, said to be largely untouched by the influence of dread wesstern modernism, (or North Korea). As with most countries of course, I would support the razing here of all edifices built after, say, 1955 and the introduction of regulations requiring their substitution with constructions designed using traditional grammar and materials and coordinated with planning decisions sensitive to location – another hopeless cause.

The mid-term election results in the USA are not without implications for the political landscape in the UK. I would recommend watching at least the first 15 minutes of Alex Jones cited above.
Anne,
Quite right. Miliband represents the Hampstead Marxists, he lives in a million pound house which he took care to shelter from death duties and has an absolute contempt for the lower orders whom he considers totally unfit to have any say in the affairs of the Nation. I rather think the Nation is lining up a considerable shock for he and his kind.

“According to the EU Commission:-
“As we all know the UK receives a rebate on their contribution, but in years when the UK has to pay additional because of GNI corrections, normally this payment would be on 31 December and it would be in the full amount. With the proposal [under discussion]…in exceptional years this period of time would be stretched into the next year, and when this happens, and it would be in these exceptional circumstances, then the payment and the rebate on the payment could converge. In a normal year, they would not. In a normal year, you have a payment on 31 December and then next year, in the spring, we have the calculation of the rebate on this payment.”

If Baron had to decide, no other option available, whether to live in a country described by Ann Barnhardt as one “run by executive fiat, which is carried out by an ideologically purged and compliant bureaucracy, judiciary, military, financial industry and with a fully compliant media/propaganda arm”, or one run by the mob as the three pictures down below depict, he would, very very reluctantly, opt for the former.
This may be because of his age and little first hand experience of what a lawless hord is capable of, or because he has an unshaken belief in sorting things out by every tool available except one – naked violence.
The piece, however, is not only brilliantly articulated, Frank, but of a content which the barbarian totally endorses. Her blog has been added to Baron’s list of ‘must read’.
Radford NG @ 15:53
Not that Baron in any way favours the boy, Radford, but he would rather have the next year’s election won by the Tories (not with an overall majority, hence the removal of the boy) with the balance of power held by Ukip than the other lot.
If that were to happen, the handling of the surcharge by Geoffrey in no 11 has been spectacularly disastrous. We will pay the £1.7bn, the delay’s neither here not there. What he should have done is accept the payment (after all we were signatories to the formula that produced the sum), but he should have said we would pay only if the EU accounts were independently audited to be sure the money’s spent wisely. This not unreasonable demand would have done alot good not only for the Tories, but for the EUSSR as a whole. It’s likely the audit would have discovered a massive waste of funds, would have led to identifying areas of huge savings thus cutting the bill not only of the UK, but hose of other member states that may have been more willing to listen to our desire to renegotiate the whole arrangements.
It’s amazing that nobody, not the politicians, the MSM, not even Nigel, the eurosceptics have raised the issue of auditing. They should shout about it daily for this could be the key to persuading other member states to be more sympathetic to a fresh overhaul of the non-democratic outfit.

Interesting that you mention Dickens
Mentality has not moved on much from that of mill owners chaining children to looms and sending tinies up chimneys
Profit is king and sod the workers
Throughout my working life I have seen lefties, socialists and communists lie, bully and murder their way to power on the basis that they have a monopoly on morality and caring.
When the opposite is invariably true. And much misery ensues.
The most extreme proponents of socialism are always excused and justified by the others, blind to their own faults, incapable of making the distinction between intentions and consequences. Thus Mucus reveres Stalin.
I have come to the sad conclusion that those collective people, “the left”, all have a screw loose to greater or lesser degrees. All are mentally unhinged and self-deluded. Unfortunately that mentality has not moved on and still plagues and imposes on our society.
Mucus provides one of the best demonstrations of that, to the point of parody.
And endowed with a hugely arrogant ego, a brass neck, a hardwood brain and oceans of hubris which far outweigh any capacity for veracity, he is totally, absolutely, bereft of self-awareness or the humility it ought to deliver.
To the extent that he blithely accuses others of those faults he incessantly displays himself. Despite his sanctimonious public pretensions to being Christian Matthew 7.5 is lost on him.
telemachus @ 06:12
Excesses, mistakes, acts of personal vengeance happen, telemachus, if you think in your nirvana society people won’t lose their jobs if and when the demand for whatever it is they’re putting together vanishes and they are unwilling to retrain, or are too old to be retrained, you must be genuinely naive. True dictatorship is found within the ethos of the so-called iberals
If this bakery was not in Northern Ireland, I would urge all CHWallers to order a cake!
A decision to take a bakery to court in a row over a pro-gay marriage cake slogan has been described as “bonkers” by Northern Ireland’s first minister.
Peter Robinson criticised the Equality Commission’s decision to fund legal action against Ashers Baking Company.
The County Antrim bakery firm refused a customer’s request for a cake with a slogan supporting same-sex marriage.
Mr Robinson said the commission needed to “wind their necks in” at a time when public funds were under pressure.
The cake was ordered from Asher’s Belfast shop in May, by a gay rights activist who wanted it to feature the logo of a campaign group called ‘Queerspace’.

“However, I think if you’re opening your premises for business you have to comply with the discrimination legislation.
“So, whilst I can understand the disquietude of the small business concerned, since they are I understand people of deep religious conviction, I have to say that in terms of running their business they have to comply with the law and the law, I think rightly, prevents discrimination against gay people.”
telemachus@November 8th, 2014 – 12:38
Then its a crap law. Why should anyone be forced to do business with anyone else?
The gay bloke could have gone elsewhere so where is his loss?
The application of the law in this case has not prevented discrimination against the Christians and the state is now busy persecuting them. Despite the fatuous promises of the idiot politicians to protect a right of conscience they have failed miserably to incorporate that protection and we now have another example of the so-called rights of a minority trampling on the rights of others. In this case a deliberately contrived and fabricated entrapment. Forcing others to write, say or do things that they do not believe in is simply fascism. If the law enforces it then the law is unjust and oppressive and we live under TYRANNY.
As observed elsewhere:-
“I’m a gay man and also not religious but I completely agree with you! It’s their business, they should have the right to say no to baking something because the message being put on the cake is contrary to their beliefs without the Government breathing down their neck.”
“An elderly cancer patient has died just hours after she was granted her final wish to be reunited with her favourite horse as she laid in her hospital bed.’
The sheer “humanity’ of the above story brought tears to my rheumy old eyes. The article can be found in all the papers and is truly a fine one. In a world where cannibalism, murder in the classroom and all evil thrives, horses show compassion and love for their long-term owner and friend. Good too, to see a hospital or hospice that forgets ‘ealth and safety and allows this dying woman’s pets to be at her bedside.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/nov/06/luxembourg-jean-claude-juncker-pressure-tax-deals
Even Margaret Hodge, chair of the Commons public accounts committee, gets noticed, but our PM, who will be negotiating a new deal for us, nowhere to be seen! She said:
“[Juncker has] just taken over the European commission, [yet] he’s presided over the biggest exploitation of European nations in his own little country for decades.”
We also have others from Britain, Australia, but no Cameron:
“Ronen Palan, professor of international relations at City University, London, a specialist on tax havens, said: “Luxembourg is extremely secretive. I can’t underline [enough] how aggressive they are in denying that they are a tax haven. Now we have evidence. For the first time we have real evidence as opposed to supposition, as opposed to suspicions and so forth.”
The revelations have sparked political outrage across the world. The Australian tax office said it had launched an investigation into whether multinational firms operating in Australia were avoiding tax by using deals arranged through Luxembourg. ICIJ documents show that Ikea’s Australian arm has paid hardly any tax on an estimated $1bn profit earned since 2003, according to the Australian Financial Review’s report on the leaked documents.”

Congratulations to all those who today ensured that the remembrance service and parade at the Cenotaph – and at all the other ceremonies throughout the nation and commonwealth; also on the front lines of current conflicts, were all completed without incident in the face of cowardly threats of those who would espouse the barbarous tenets of the ‘religion of peace’. The ring of steel held fast! Our octogenarian monarch and her nonagenarian consort were magnificent, as ever. The survivors and the famililies of those who fell made this one of the most impressive and moving occasions I can remember. The BBC coverage under the baton of David Dimbleby was faultless, proving that they and he can be fit for purpose when they abandon the leftist ideology and fulfill the responsibilities and duties for which they were inaugurated.
Even the fact that most of the politicians on parade are not deserving of the sacrifices made by those remembered, did not detract from the solemnity of the occasion.
Frank P @ 14:27
It was indeed a solemn ceremony, Frank, quite unlike the shouting and arms waving of the crowds celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall falling. Only the British can do and do do it the way that makes one proud of the human race – low key, thoughtful, dignified. Doesn’t it also suggest the ‘healthy core of Englishness’ hasn’t yet faded away, and hopefully one day may defeat the evil forces of the uncalled-for progressiveness?
If only the Queen could be with us forever.
telemachus @ 16:50
Are you trying to tell us, telemachus, that those in charge in some states of the Republic haven’t yet lost common sense? That must be a first for you.
Anne Wotana Kaye 1 @ 13:49
Baron’s boss has been very much touched by the same story, Anne, cut the whole piece from a mag, filed it in her diary, would talk about it for hours.
What is it that makes some of us to forge such affinity with the animal world. Could it be, (the infamous Adolf’s credited with saying it) that the more one observes the human race the more one loves animals?
Frank P @ 14:33
Frank, oh, Frank, where does this nuclear ammo of words come from? How does Baron stop chuckling, ha?
telemachus @ 12:38
The barbarian will not finish the argument, telemachus, he’s got carpeted for lecturing, and the boss’s right, he does that, so from now on, no more lecturing just straight hits (if he can manage it).

Consult the Holy Book(s)
The book of Leviticus, which was given directly by God, contain his instructions for all mankind:
13 If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing, and both shall be put to death. (Leviticus 20:13)
22 No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that. (Leviticus 18:22)
“A person who commits sodomy with a boy will acquire such a Janabat (impurity) that even all the water of this world cannot remove it. Allah will be wrathful at him and curse him. (That is He will take away His Mercy from him and will award Hell for him.) What a dreadful place it is! Then the Heavens shudder of it. And the person who allows another to mount him from behind to commit sodomy, then Allah puts him on the fringe of Hell (in extreme heat) and keeps him there till He completes the reckoning of all the people. Then He orders him to be put into Hell. One by one he is made to suffer all the punishments of Hell till he reaches the lowest stage. Then he never comes out from there.”
RobertC @ 00:00
Juncker is the right guy to be in charge of the EUSSR then, Robert. Didn’t he also say that when a politician needs to lie he should lie (or words to that effect)?

Baron,
Thanks for the link, it is great to read in print what we in Tower Hamlets have known about for years. The day after Rahman was first elected he took a drive through the borough accompanied by three police cars, shame on the force for pandering to the corrupt bastard. As for selling off council properties to cronies, I have direct experience of this, he tried to do the same with a building in which I had a direct interest, one which was covenanted to charity. Well, you take Maybery on at your peril, and I wiped the floor with the corrupt prick.

… The Thai government is to distribute military weapons to thousands of village defense volunteers in the troubled south following a string of insurgent [i.e.Muslim] attacks in the last four days.
Banphot Poolpian, a spokesman for the Internal Security Operations Command – the military organisation in charge of national security – told the Bangkok Post on Tuesday that 2,700 rifles will be acquired by the army and distributed to defense volunteers under an interior ministry program…”. Serve and protect.
Labour and their friends in the media just don’t get it and never will.
It doesn’t matter who is leader, the hypocrisy, envy and downright malice has been seen through by enough of the British to send them to the dustbin of history. Their core vote, the white working class, have suffered from Labour’s determination to rub the right’s noses in multi-culturalism by flooding the UK with immigrants and, through their PC blindness, allowed the scourge of Islam to destroy huge swathes of a once-great nation. When they objected, they were labelled racists. When they organised, as in Barking & Dagenham, Labour gerrymandered so many aliens into the Borough, they were outnumbered and disregarded.
Voters look around them (and white folk, as a whole, still numerically far outweigh aliens) and don’t like what they see – from the bigoted racist Abbot, through the hypocrite Lammy (and all the other champagne socialists) to the inept and duplicitous Balls & Milliband. They haven’t forgotten the Scottish bastard who stole their pensions. They look at the war criminal Blair poncing around the planet and filling his pockets from the coffers of the vilest despots. The old guard weep as it’s revealed how their hero Benn used legal loopholes to minimise the amount of tax his family paid. And they look at McCluskey and think “Bollocks to that for a game of soldiers, I thought Thatcher had destroyed all those dinosaurs!”
Across the planet, Socialism has been shown time and again not to work, unable to meet people’s expectations. Unable to overcome it’s intrinsic failing – it’s abhorrence of aspiration, it screams diversity whilst doing all it can to level everyone down to an equal plane of mediocrity.
Labour must be destroyed in 2015. And as soon as they are gone, their Common Purpose foot soldiers must be rooted out of Britain’s public services if it is to survive as a nation. An early law must be that, having attended any CP course must preclude that person from holding any role in public service or any organisation funded from the public purse – these vipers are the real threat to the UK.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Churchill

But you forgot to mention the fact that under Blair we held our heads high in the world
“… you forgot to mention the fact that under Blair we held our heads high in the world”
Crap. Under Blair, decent people were ashamed to admit they were British. Socialists only hold their heads up so they can sneer at the little people.
Goebbels and Goring. Miliband and Balls. The only decent thing one can say about the first pair is that they self-destructed!
One of Boot’s friends, the Revd Peter Mullen, is on good form at the moment. See for example his post on Wimmin.

“An elderly cancer patient has died just hours after she was granted her final wish to be reunited with her favourite horse as she laid in her hospital bed.’
AWK, Depending on where you put the parentheses, this could involve her favourite horse actually getting into the hospital bed. This is indeed how I read it first time.

Two scandals highlighted by UKIP (but the full stories are behind a Times paywall). The headings are:
Tories by passing election spending limits via a consultancy owned by their hired man,Jim Messina,Obama’s election guru. This conducts electoral surveys. The Conservatives claim it is an independent organization;but do not deny the information is shared with them.
Liam Fox (ex Conservative defense minister) says EU is punishing UK for defence spending.Spending on Research and Development, and Armaments,is now included in GDP figures used to calculate payments to EU;whilst the UK is spending more on defence then other European NATO countries.
An Iranian girl is on hunger strike in a Tehran jail, she was arrested for demonstrating on behalf of female equality, of which there is little on offer in that society, and campaigners are whipping up a storm of outrage on her behalf. The young lady in question is described as Iranian/British, her family live in Iran. In short another wog taking advantage of the tolerance of this country to stir up trouble on other, distant shores. Petitions are doing the rounds demanding the British Government act to get the girl freed.
Our Government has no business interfering in the matter. If we are to pick a fight with Tehran there are other, more important issues over which to go rattling sabres than a silly, self-important little girl who has brought her troubles on herself, and if she chooses to starve then I for one will shed no tears.

I find it difficult to believe that you, Stephen. could write such an offensive letter. I do not want to write further on this matter since I believe you have become insane, and can only pray that you will soon be restored to decency and common sense.
Confusion in The Commons over the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) condemned by Speaker Bercow and others, including Carswell and Farage. The House is to vote on accepting 35 regulations previously put to The Commons.Bercow said eleven of these are to be debated and voted upon including the EAW.The Whips and Ministers say ten will be voted upon;and will not include the EAW:but if these measures are passed this will count as the 35 measures being passed.Or so it appears.
This sounds like the same trickery used over the €2bn demand. It reminds me of the way banks bundled-up financial packages including sub-prime loans which they sold to each other.
Clear Memories (03:25)
Agree entirely with your sentiments, but sadly fear that the dependency sheeples will instinctively flock to the comfort of the socialist pen in 2015, regardless. Cameron and his crooked cabal missed the boat last time and had to take aboard the louche liberal rump that is even more leftist than Labour, in order to get a majority. Considering his opponent then was a gargoylian demented, one eyed, autistic, unelectable loser, the outcome of the last general election was deplorable. Since then Cameron has, through his devious and determined obduracy to cede even more power to the Brussels Federal aspirations of the unelected Marxists pulling the strings, ensured that the next election will make little or no difference to our increasing Dhimmitude to both Islamic jihad (in all its devious and overtly violent methodologies) and our further immersion into the socialist sewer.
Unfortunately, our votes for UKIP will ensure our continued descent into the abyss, for at least five more years, as it will enable a Labour victory. It can only be hoped that another five years of the Long March penetrating even more deeply into the institutional fabric of the nation will bring about a level of chaos that will ensure a backlash; but the pandemic disease of stupidity that has engulfed our national culture for the past three decades has probably done for us. Much more destructive than Ebola!
The show of overt patriotism at the Cenotaph yesterday, has been completely negated by the antics in the Westminster gasworks today over the European arrest warrant. And the pro EU bullshit by all three party leaders at the CBI conference – with BBC agitprop pushing their propaganda. Egregious, scaly-backed, double-dyed, treasonous shit-bags.
Further evidence today of the depths of depravity involved in the cultural decline was the banging up today, for thirteen yonks, of the sodomite RAF officer who buggered youngsters under his charge in British military establishments. One can only hope he will be ‘suicided’ by the co-inmates when he reaches HM holiday camp.
AWK1 – 16:08 ‘offensive letter?’
While this girl can protest, there shouldn’t be any reason why Britain should give her any help. We do not have the resources to help ourselves, let alone a lone person who, from stephen’s post, is Iranian/British, with her family living in Iran.
She is Iranian, in Iran. Nothing to do with Britain at all!
You must, you must listen to this guy, please, and perhaps even scan Liddle’s piece, and the comments below.
The video though is priceless, it shows, as Einstein observed, there’s indeed a difference between genius and idiocy. The latter’s has no limits.

How can the CoE have any credibility when one of their more prestigious flock acts as if insanity has taken hold:
Let Muslim primary school teachers wear full-face veil in class – Rowan Williams
Former Archbishop of Canterbury says ‘panic’ about the niqab is ‘largely misplaced’ even if young children cannot see their teacher’s face
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11221033/Let-Muslim-primary-school-teachers-wear-full-face-veil-in-class-Rowan-Williams.html
Why don’t they send him to Iran where he could explain to the troubled girl in my last post that support for ‘female equality’ is ‘largely misplaced’.
It might not help the poor girl in Iran, but it would improve matters in the CoE.
Government wins vote on procedural measure to extend debate on EU regulations to 10pm by only 9 votes;after Whips call P.M. and Chancellor in to boost vote.Ms.May claims vote for EU package will be vote for EAW,although Bercow said it would not be,and called Minister’s position “a sleight of hand which would leave the public contemptuous”.
RobertC November 10th, 2014 – 18:51
Robert re your link to:-
“There is no need to “panic” about Muslim primary school teachers wearing the full-face veil in class, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Williams, has insisted.”
“He said concerns that young children would struggle to learn from a woman whose face was covered were “largely misplaced” and that there are other ways to “read” what people are saying.”
The man is a total utter lunatic.
Williams is yet another example of an articulate, superbly well educated and erudite (but short of sapient) village idiot. They seem to breed like flies everywhere in our progressive society, but the time will come they’ll get swatted, too.

The Revd Peter Mullen acts as Alexander Boot’s minder at his public appearances.
He has a formidable personal presence(no ghosts required) , and can be as scary as the Bishop of Bath and Wells demanding payment whilst brandishing a red hot poker.
