This is the Coffee House Wall for this week. I won’t say that it is your chance to communicate with us, as we are all in this together. It is, nevertheless, the Conservative Blog post that has no particular theme, and where everything is on topic. Let’s just remember that we want to avoid ad hominem attacks on others. We don’t want to engage with trolls. We want to moderate our language ourselves as responsible and mature adults, choosing to use fruity language only where it is necessary. This is our opportunity to show what the Spectator Coffee House Wall could have been like.

“Syrian rebels used Sarin nerve gas, not Assad’s regime: U.N. official
Testimony from victims strongly suggests it was the rebels, not the Syrian government, that used Sarin nerve gas during a recent incident in the revolution-wracked nation, a senior U.N. diplomat said Monday.”

Does anyone here know why there appear to be no written records of life in England from the Roman invasion until the beginnings of Old English in the 5th century apart from a few graffiti and notes? After all the Romans seem to have had villas in England that were not matched size and sophistication until the Elizabethans. And why were the Britons before the Romans arrived so dumb that they had no written language?
he likelihood of the first prosecution in the UK for female genital mutilation is higher than ever before, the director of public prosecutions says.
The Crown Prosecution Service was now considering whether to bring charges in five cases.
While there have been 100 convictions in France, there has not been a successful UK prosecution since criminalisation 28 years ago.
=================
Just read this on the BBC web. I think there is a conspiracy of acceptance and silence which starts at the very top of government, and goes down via police, hospitals, doctors, schools, social services and the whole stinking establishment. Last week wrote to BMA and the Medical Defence League, but I am afraid my emails will be ignored.
Before the Romans there was no need for a written language, although there was the development of Ogham later on in the Roman period. The culture was an oral one, and those who transmitted the culture, both secular and religious, did so by means of oral mediums. There are plenty of written remains from the Roman period written in Latin by British people. They were happy to use a written language.
In Ethiopia, and advanced civilization, much of the Orthodox Christian tradition was passed on in a predominantly oral manner until recently, and those engaged in such an education would be learning and memorising for many, many years. This is even while there are Ethiopian scripts.
Writing things down tends to be driven by trade. The history, genealogy and spirituality of a people are usually successfully transmitted in an oral manner. This would have been the case even in England until printing made literature cheaper.
AWK1, I might try and get a few minutes of comment on the Right Stuff pilot from someone working in the area of FGM.

Thanks, Peter
Malfleur & Ostrich –
I see that White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough has said that a quite strong “common sense” test suggests that the Sarin attack was carried out by the regime. Others in the Administration have repeatedly referred to the victims as “Innocent people”.
If an attack on Syria is going to justified because it is supported by “common sense” then even if Assad did order the chemical attack, I find it hard to swallow the allegation that the people attacked were all “Innocent people” and that Assad knew that they were all innocent. Why would any sane man – even a nasty dictator do that?
He’d do it, surely, to kill his enemies? And his enemies certainly include Al Qaeda members and other non-Syrian Muslim extremists from outside Syria.
Peter from Maidstone
What are the top ten works in Britannic Latin? Didn’t the British trade before the Romans arrived?
There are lots of letters, trade documents, religious vows etc. We shouldn’t expect any great works of literature to have survived because very little survived from anyone. The works of Julius Caesar are only preserved in very late copies.
We do have, for instance, though, the works of Pelagius, a Briton who was the subject of some theological controversy. He lived in the 4th century. He wrote theology in Latin. Likewise the Confessio and Life of St Patrick are in Latin. As might be expected, the most significant texts from this period are religious.
There was trade to and from Britain before the Romans, but one reason for the invasion was to take advantage of the natural resources of Britain in a way that the British had not needed or wanted to.
Isn’t it time for the House of Commons to consider the impeachment of the Foreign Secretary for conspiring with the Secretary of State of the United States and others to manufacture and promote fraudulent pretexts for prosecuting unprovoked war in alliance with islamist terrorists against the government of Syria? Or don’t we call the Queen’s ministers to account for criminal acts any more?
UPDATE 9th September: THE RIGHT STUFF – COFFEE HOUSE TV
We are glad to announce that we have a commentator lined up to speak on the RIGHT STUFF pilot programme about the current state of US politics, and we are working hard to confirm the participation of a well known economist.
The next step for COFFEE HOUSE TV is to develop a dedicated website to help promote the project and begin to publish excerpts of the programming we hope to broadcast in December.
How can you help? If you have access to professional lighting and/or video equipment that we could use then we are happy to organise an advertising and sponsorship deal with you.
If you think this sounds like an interesting project, well worth supporting, then please make a donation today of even £5 to help us continue to bring the pilot programme to completion.

“Strange days indeed.”
Yes, Noa. This week, the story so far…
It transpires that the ageing, fat, balding, amateur prize winning poet known as Fergus Pickering has an alter ego who is a young girl called Phoebe Flood.
Meanwhile, there have been far too many posts about cats’ anuses. Coincidently, Verity’s cat who had to go the Vets after, presumably, getting a firecracker up its arse. We are still not sure which of them got the needle with the sedative as Verity is now talking to a chav called Cheryl who is not even here.
The really good news? France is now fucked too!
Andy Carpark, why would my cat, or any other cat, get a firecracker up its arse? And why write “presumably”? And why do you capitalise Vets and leave out the apostrophe? I have not written anything about a cat – mine or anyone else’s – in yonks.
Had an extra drinky poo before lunch?
John Jefferson Burns
I seem to recall that it was YOU who first hypothesised Verity’s cat having a firecracker rammed up its arse in the course of one of your inane Anglophobic fantasies, so we await your full and proper explanation.
And why Vets with a capital V but without the apostrophe, you cigar chompin’ muppet?
Anybody got a problem with this?

The BBC seems very anti the “Coronation Street” actor, treating him as though he has already been tried and found guilty. Is this because he is from ITV, and the BBC itself has so many paedophiles, sex perverts and homosexuals currently in the headlines?

Just as an aside, it’s bloody freezing here.
Malfleur’s musing on the lack of written records from pre-Roman Britain remind of another question – what did those ancient Brits eat? An awful lot of today’s staples are relatively new arrivals. Spuds and tomatoes are newcomers, and I read somewhere the even carrots weren’t known here until the 16th Century. The Romans brought us lettuce, cabbage and onions. So that’s quite a few humble dishes unknown in pre-Roman times. Maybe their diet contained things that have fallen out of favour – but what?.
Are there any doctors here on CHW? Maybe somebody can explain to me how the BMA was able to join Tower Hamlets imans and council in banning the EDL march. Can the BMA make a decision without a vote of its members?

You will no doubt recall that, in your last abode but one or two, you once wrote that your cats were much distressed by people letting off fireworks in the street outside your front window. Fiesta time? Also, in another residence, you, and maybe your cats, were much put out by the sound of amplified church bells, I seem to recall.

Baron loves the bravity but even more so the certainty of the statement. But how do you know ancient Britons ate pork? (You mean Celts presumably, for it was Celtic tribes that inhabited this ‘little island’ for almost a thousand years or so before the spaghetti eaters arrived.
In fact, anyone knows how maize (or corn) came about? The plant is totally dependant on us, it couldn’t propagate without us, it’s the world first engineered plant, and we have no idea how it was done. There’s nothing in nature that resembles it, in its gene structure it’s close to teosinte, a plant that doesn’t look at all like corn. Apparently, corn was first cultivated in West Mexico well before AD.
Or another puzzle – potatoes. Who and how first figured how to rid the wild variety of glycoalkaloids? Pork, by comparison, presents no problem. But here is atest for you. Could pigs devour wild potatoes and live?
Peter fM:
Not that Baron has any right to table any suggestions, but it seems to him you would have had greater success in attracting funds for your TV venture if you ran it as a lottery: for every ten quid one place in a lottery winning £100 (the lottery taking place after the target were reached). Everyone likes a flutter, and that should include contributors and readers of your blog, Peter.
Malfleur on the paucity of a written record in Roman, post-Roman timees.
You’re right, Baron’s guess is that before the Roman got here there was little of any common language amongst the Celtic pork eating tribes (if Radford NG’s right), these were but enlarged families, each one speaking its own dialect. The Romans brought in Latin, and Latin in was that the l;ikes of Aldhelm, the ‘Venerable’ Bede, and Alcuin wrote. Admittedly, some three centuries after the Romans left.
What puzzles even more is why so few Roman and Celtic words survived. The former occupied Britain for almost 300 years, the latter for nearly a thousand.
Hi Baron
The inhabitants of Britain were called Britons by themselves as much as anyone else. They weren’t Celts. That’s a modern construct.
I think that your useful idea of a lottery runs foul of various laws. But I’ll take a look. To be honest I’d hope people would support the idea and ambition of the programme for more than the chance of personal gain but I’ll certainly investigate the idea.
The peoples of the British Isles all spoke a variety of Brythonic. It is preserved in Welsh, Gaelic, Irish and Breton.

How are we to respect cultural differences and sort out this problem and the, linked, groomed ‘white meat’ victims (and the rest)?
I think, having a liberal discussion until one side gives up, with their pride intact, is becoming less and less possible. Not only do we have cultural differences, we also have various forms of logic and perceptions of what is right.
All parents with children living in Britain must be wondering what the world, or at least Britain, is coming to. I am, and I do not have children in my immediate care. It must be impossible in some schools, though teachers appear to be unaware of the complicated situation that has developed there.

But…this acquittal, and the decision not to proceed against a certain chirpy, cheeky, cockney comedian (like the alliteration?) must surely be an indication that the tide is changing. But this case, and others of a similar ilk, shows for those who can see beyond the end of their noses how riddled with inexplicable contradictions the Left is. They import millions of the most illiberal, anti-feminist, homophobic, child-abusing peoples that walk the Earth, then protect them from criticism with criminal sanctions.
So the Left’s thinking on sex is equally incoherent and indeed venal and downright evil. They happily prosecute white men on evidence that reeks for ancient accusations of under-age sex, but ignore the concrete evidence of white girls who for year upon miserable year are used as slaves in the most degrading way possible by asian men. They scream accusations of paederasty with, shall I say, gay abandon but at the same time lobby for the age of consent to be reduced further and think nothing of having ten or twelve year old girls taken to clinics without their parent’s knowledge or consent to have abortions. They rip babies lierally from theor mother’s breasts but want to teach 5 year olds the beauty and validity of gay sex.
Sick. Warped. Malicious. All totally intolerable, but made doubly so by their conceited sense of absolute superior rightness. Enoch used to say that eventually reality will reveal itself. He was right about so much else, and I’m hoping against hope that he’s right about that too.

Irish Boy, of course they are guilty of jury rigging! The left has no allegiance to the laws and mores of the country.
Picking juries should be done by a random selection, done by a computer, from the electors’ register. (If the computer selected a muslim, that would be discounted as they do not understand the mores of democracy and their moral values are too alien to be sitting on juries in as Western democracy.)

Make sure you you keep up with the ongoing vitriolic discussion on the Gates of Vienna blog following Diana West’s serial rebuttal of the attacks by Leftist apostates , who appear anxious not to have those bits of history raked over again that expose their culpability before they became apostates – or whatever it is that they have indeed become, which is now debatable, given their clamour to denounce West’s book. I too am in the process of assimilating her thesis and will match it against my own long life experience, which includes the professional monitoring of both external and internal communist propaganda and activism, under the aegis of (in seamless succession), the military; the police and investigative journalism. Not to mention my continued trawling, as an ‘amateur’, of the various media as an unpaid patriot, since I retired from the fray, after over 60 years on the front line of the culture war (some it under personal attack, both physical and reputational). I’ll let you know what I think when I’ve studied the book and the ongoing kerfuffle.
Of course the invidious nature of authors bursting forth on the work of other authors competing for a diminishing readership in the dead tree medium may be the simple explanation; or even, heaven forfend, a drummed-up polemical spat to boost the sales of all their respective books. I wouldn’t put it past em!
However, I’m very sad that Clare Lopez has been part of the collateral damage in this literary civil war. Her impeccably sourced analyses of the Muslim Brotherhood and its history of infiltration and empirical interference within the corridors of power throughout ‘The West’ (whatever that means now) is second to none – and I rate her work very highly, using the yardstick of my own research and that of others with whom I have collaborated over the years. The fact that Horowitz has indicated that he has never heard of ‘that woman’ [Lopez] does nothing to bolster his own reputation as a ‘right wing’ author and pundit, imho.
What bothers me even more is that John Bolton, the erstwhile UN Ambassaddor to the UN under Bush 41, who is now (I deduce) a luminary of Gatestone Institute (Chairman – I understand) stood by and did nothing, from what I have read and seen, to avert the Lopez sacking, without so much as an explanation of his default.
I suppose he may be ‘otherwise engaged’ in keeping tabs on the risible antics of Obama and his string pullers over the Syrian debacle. But if he wishes to append his name to an ‘Institution’ he should perhaps keep up to speed with their sanctions against other fellows of it? This affair is fact becoming foetid.

Yeah … but even Elizabeth Taylor drew the line at a firecracker up her fundament for the amusement of Richard Burton, I would have thought; though from what I hear, the metaphorical fireworks of their sex-life was at times quite sparky (and snarky).

Frank P – Burton & Taylor
There was great story of a Royal Command Performance at the London Palladium in which they were starring when at the peak of their fame and all day during the rehearsal, the rest of the cast heard the two of them screaming at each other, and when the time came to rehearse the full company curtain call, Burton was on stage but Taylor wasn’t, so Richard asked the assembled company “Has anyone seen my wife?”, and the ensuing embarrassed silence was broken by the one and only Mr Tommy Cooper who replied “What does she look like?”

Radford, our leaders are part of the problem. Some of them are true Quislings who have looked at how the global conflict is manifesting itself and have decided to align themselves with those they believe might hold the upper hand in the future. The majority are those who are consumed with self-interest and have no concern for global or local events other than in respect of how they might provide some temporary advantage to them.
A good friend of mine considers our current political class to be nonentities. Non-human in any meaningful sense. Empty eyes offering windows into a dark and cold world.
Watched the entire grilling of Lucy Adams on Parliament TV. She came across as a typical, senior management bitch, oozing a sense of righteous entitlement and almost crying when finally called to account by those she couldn’t play her feminist cards against.
Further, she was a typical BBC employee, twisting and wriggling in her answers and unable to see the truth even when forced to face up to documentary evidence.
Publicly-funded quangos, local authorities and the civil services are populated with sanctimonious cows like her who need weeding out of the over-paid, protected roles. Any criticism is met with the usual response that they are being picked on because they’re a woman and (if you are male), you’re a misogynist.

Assuming that the dead were largely Al Qaeda, why have we not seen any opinion that its use was well justified?

Read some remarks on this site about the EDL march. They were allowed to march but confined to the outer limits of the borough, but for their opponents it was a different kettle of fish, They were marching up Whitechapel High Street, where I observed them while enjoying a fag as I watched the buggers down below. They waved their placards and chanted their juvenile slogans, and one thing shone out. They were all of recognisably English, too young for their balls to have dropped, and indulging themselves with Starbucks Coffee. Starbucks in Whitechapel? well, that explains why the place is going to the dogs.

Time for a little laxity from the Naughty Niece:
An Italian, a Frenchman and an Aussie were talking about screams of passion.
The Italian said: “Last night I massaged my wife all over her body with the finest extra virgin olive oil, then we made passionate love and I made her scream, non-stop for five minutes.”
The Frenchman said: “Last night I massaged my wife all over her body with special aphrodisiac oil from Provence and then we made passionate love. I made her scream for fifteen minutes straight.”
The Aussie said: That’s nothing! Last night I massaged my wife, y’know, all over her body with a special butter. I caressed her entire body with the butter, and then made love and I made her scream for two long hours.”
The Italian and Frenchman, astonished, asked, “Two full hours? …Wow! That’s phenomenal. How did you do it to make her scream for two hours?”
The Aussie replied, “I wiped my hands on the curtains.”
… and another from her log-jam:
A blonde took two stuffed dogs to the ‘Antiques Roadshow’.
“Ooh!” said the presenter, “This is a very rare set, produced by the
celebrated Johns Brothers taxidermists who operated in London at
the turn of last century.
Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?”
“…Sticks ? ” she replied.

We do not know of course, but I wonder what is the state of UK chemical weaponry, and will we be allowing Syrian officials to visit Porton Down to make sure that nothing untoward is being developed? And the US, will they be opening their facilities so that we can be sure that they won’t use chemical weapons in the next war, as they have in all the recent ones.
It all seems rather hypocritical since as far as I can see we know that the US and Saddam Hussein have used chemical weapons in recent times, but we don’t know, and it seems unlikely, that Assad has.
@PfM 08:04
We-ell, one thing that ‘Today’ teased out this morning (see, it’s not COMPLETELY useless!) is that both the USA and Russia are still destroying their chemical stocks; apparently to do it safely requires specialised robot-operated factories to be built, which, unless you’re going to throw silly money at the problem, only have a limited throughput. I’ve even read, somewhere, that the Russian factory was actually American designed and US parts supplied (if not in its entirety).
As for developing future weapons, it may sound an ‘iffy’ argument, but I believe they justify such development on the grounds that they’ve got to have some samples of poison gas just to test any antidotes they’ve developed.
The Septics are in no position to be ‘holier than thou’ on this; during WWII, despite the 1926 convention, they had chemical weapon stocks available in Italy, just in case Adolf should choose to use his stocks of such weapons.
Unfortunately, some of them were cargo on a ship in Bari harbour that was hit by a German raid. The harbour was covered in an unholy mixture of fuel oil and mustard gas, but such was the security that doctors were denied any information that might have helped them treat the unusual symptoms that presented in many of the casualties. Imagine if Adolf had got wind of it…it might just have precipitated him into using his equivalent weapons.
Seems to me that banning chemical weapons is a sticking plaster similar to banning land mines…if you want to deny access to a piece of land without committing lots of infantry, of course you’re going to use land mines. Same with NBCW.
Ostrich, thanks for that. I am sure that both the UK and US have chemical and biological warfare programmes funded as anti-chemical and anti-biological warfare research. (We are only developing these weapons so that we can defend against them!).
Nor do I find it entirely reprehensible that they should be developed. Killing people results in people who have been killed. The means by which they have been killed is rather secondary. Neutron bomb technology was considered very fashionable as I was growing up because if offered the possibility of killing everyone in a city but leaving it mostly standing, so that it could then be occupied.
Neither war, nor weapons can be banned. But the danger is always in those who have some personal advantage in promoting war. Are there global businesses, for instance, which have divisions likely to benefit from preparing for war, prosecuting a war, and then rebuilding after a war. Would such a global business have any loyalty to those nations by whom it plays out its commercial interests for short term gain?

Too much effort is going into trying to stop the Syrian war. Why, FFS?
There is little that can be more appealing than watching Muslims slaughter each other and the longer they adopt that stance, the better. And the safer the west will be.
As Attenborough has noted, there are simply too many people on the planet. Families in certain sections are too large. Those sections, one of which is obviously the sons of the desert, are generally takers, non-contributors, basically, oxygen thieves, adding nothing to the planet whilst greedily consuming its resources. That was fine before the advent of technology and political correctness that has decreed all cultures are worthy, valuable and equal. 100 years ago, most children born into what can be broadly termed the equitorial band failed to reach adulthood. Now, thanks to idiots like the sainted Geldof and Bono the Gob, these buggers are swarming.
We need a bloody good war. It needs to be centred in the Middle East, spreading into Africa and the sub-continent. And it needs to reduce the world population to a manageable number. The use of WMD’s is a given – can’t achieve the necessary ends without them.
Then we’ll have a population that can thrive and earn the income levels the global corporations need to survive.
Is another mini ice age coming?
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100235012/arctic-ice-melt-is-a-problem-because-right-wing-newspapers-smell-explains-guardian-climate-expert/
It would seem the de-coupling of CO2 density from global temperature levels is hard to deny. It always was just a spurious correlation. In the period between (roughly) the year 1000 and today ie some 1200 years the correlative relationship was only valid for some 200 years, or 16% of the time span.
The massive increase in the ice cover shouldn’t be a surprise at all. Even if one accepts that the increase in the CO2 density in the air since (roughly) 1800 and now was from 140 ppm to the current 400 ppm (parts per million), it is infinitesimally small in one puts in in percentages – the density went up from 0.02% to 0.04%.
The concentration of the CO2 compound during the late Jurassic and Cretaceous periods was about five times current levels, and the dinosaurs were frolicking around the planet quite happily. It’s unlikely the species would be as massive and as prolific if the vegetation was not as lush as it was thanks to the CO2 levels.
There’s even convincing evidence that a surge of severe global warming 10 million years after the dinosaurs went extinct at the end of the Paleocene epoch, (probably caused by a giant methane “burp” rather than carbon dioxide) helped to stimulate the evolution of mammals, which up until that time were mostly small, timid, tree-dwelling creatures.
But are we likely to scrap the green tax burden?
Clear Memories, a great any of our British folk are also just oxygen consumers and contribute nothing. And some of us are rather concerned about the ancient Christian communities of the Middle East. You may not be. It’s your right not to be. But there are as many illiterate, X-Factor watching, street puking, alley fornicating wastes of space in the UK as elsewhere.
Of course they are OUR wastes of space. But lets not pretend that high culture is doing well in the UK at the moment.
PfM – I rather hoped that, as with past wars, these O2 wasters would form the front line, exhorted into pointless battle by the likes of Sgt-Major Cowell and General Fry, who might usefully bring his Blackadder character to life and finally contribute something of use to the planet.

One of the reasons this country did as well as it did in the 19th century was her population growth, the mechanisation of agriculture, improvement in hygiene, better education helped to boost the numbers, and it was, in part, the numbers that propelled Britain to the top.

Interesting that the LibDum Jeremy Browne, the Crime Prevention Minister, (since when was that a Ministerial post?), has said that we should welcome the populations of Romania and Bulgaria because they are like British people who have holiday homes in France or Spain.
Of course what this idiot neglects to mention, or even consider I guess, is that the British who live in France or Spain, either permanently or temporarily, are relatively or absolutely wealthy. They have saved up large amounts of money and have spent it and are spending it in France and Spain. They are not generally seeking employment in France and Spain. This is to the mutual benefit of those countries and the British migrants who live there.
On the contrary, those Romanian and Bulgarian migrants coming to the UK are all relatively and absolutely poor, and they are coming here to find jobs in the limited and finite pool of British employment opportunities. This is certainly to the benefit of Romanian and Bulgarian migrants but it can only be to the harm of British people.
If a Government Minister does not understand this then it becomes just one more reason why he is unfit to hold any high office.

* Cameron stands firm on Syria despite not having majority in the House, or enough military, or military equipment, or the people’s support.
* Cameron stands firm on EU Referendum despite not standing firm on EU Referendum.
* Cameron fails citizenship test on David Letterman show.

Scientists at Rolls Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners and military jets all travelling at maximum velocity.
The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.
American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the Windshields of their new high speed trains.
Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the American engineers.
When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer’s back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin like an arrow shot from a bow..
The horrified Yanks sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions.
You’re going to love this……
Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo:
“Defrost the chicken.”

Frank P sees through the tease and Baron is right, war (generally) is a terrible thing.
But, a couple of points within my rant are, nevertheless valid. We should not involve ourselves in Muslim conflicts any further than confining their geographic spread and minimising impacts on western interests and seeking to protect the innocent. I class no Muslims, whatever age or gender as innocent as they will grow up with a permanently twisted mindset. As for the Christians and non-believers being persecuted, perhaps it is time we destroyed a mosque in the West for every Church damaged and removed an entire, extended family to Saudi for every Christian or non-believer attacked. This latter could be easily effected by removing their citizenship when they leave the Country to attend the Haaj. This would leave them stateless in their spiritual home – their goods and chattels forfeit.
The other point is that the world is overcrowded, too many chasing too few resources. Whilst I hold the science is unproven, nevertheless, a major reduction in the worlds population would have a big impact upon AGW/Climate Change. But, of course, the socialists and watermelons could never accept that as their aim is to transfer western wealth across the planet.

Now we learn that “the leader” of Al Qaeda, a terrorist organization which the regime in Washington D.C. supports with arms, funds and materiel in Syria, and which some have claimed is actually the tool of the American regime or rogue elements within it, is now calling for a terrorist campaign INSIDE the United States.
Thus we might say as a minimum that terrorists supported by the American government are calling for terrorism in America.
Time to start citizens arrests of the people behind all this and have them arraigned before National Assemblies to be convened by Committees of Public Safety, no?

The reasons for the import of a significant community of muslims and other backward peoples into England by the three-in-one and one-in-three political party in England to act as the sea in which terrorist sharks can be let loose to destroy England, its economy and its community, so that the puppet-masters can seize the country’s remaining wealth, is becoming clearer by the day.

“We should not involve ourselves in Muslim conflicts”
But as Leon Trotsky is said to have said ” “You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you” Yes, it’s coming to a town near you. Why else the sudden appearance of large populations of muslims in our big cities. Has anyone given any other coherent explanation for this build up except that it is the weapon of interests who want to destroy the country and take away its wealth and destroy the people?
For then we saw through a glass, darkly; but now face to face: then I knew in part; but now I know even as also I am known.

WTF went on in Leicester on Thurs night? Seems the immigrant community is now fracturing and fighting each other.
Tragic for the family, but there seems to be a problem with some people not knowing how to behave in a civilised society.
Clear Memories 3:58 – You are right that we should not involve ourselves in any more Middle Eastern conflicts. They’ve been at it for centuries. Leave them to get on it.
Obviously, bringing their squabbles to Britain should earn them deportation. Forget about wasting the British taxpayer’s money by imprisoning them and giving them free legal council. Just pack them into 747s, dump them off anywhere in allahland and fly away.
I also think we should bomb a few mosques, preferably during one of their many daily prayer times while they all have their bums in the air. Bumbs away!

Great link! Makes the attack by Horowitz et al even more eccentric.
I do think authorial jealousy may be at the root of it. It has become as toxic as that between Rousseau, Voltaire and the other ‘philosophes’ of 18th century France, as they alternated between effusive praise and vitriolic condemnation, dependent upon which way the winds of Royal patronage were blowing – and how painful Rousseau’s prostate was at any given moment: all triggers in the ensuing revolution, the echoes of which resound to this day.

A young `black` man is stabbed to death on the streets of Highfields;an area of “rich cultural diversity” in Leicester which is often in the news for negative reasons.Nearby, four Asians die in a house fire.Police are investigating for any link. What does that say about the identity of the group that stabbed the `black` youth?____________To quote a comment in the London Evening Standard:”Asians killing blacks and blacks killing Asians with eastern Europeans moving in and hating both factions”._________And from the Leicester Mercury:”There are many issues in that part of Leicester”.
Radford NG – 16:16 ‘rich cultural diversity’

Nothing like getting it on the cheap! Police officers are substituted with PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers). Qualified Nirses with HCAs (Health Care Assistants), Real Teachers with Teaching Assostants and now we have “A new breed of health professionals are about to graduate in Aberdeen – and the venture is already attracting interest from other Scottish health boards.
The physician associates are not doctors, but they can do most things that junior doctors can”. At the moment just in Scotland, but I imagine we will soon see them here.
Anne Wotana Kaye 1 – 17:44 ‘new Aberdeen graduates’
I would have preferred “and now we have new graduate health professionals about to breed in Aberdeen”.
It would be less worrying, superficially, anyway.
I’ve come to think that throughout history the people who comprise ruling elites (i.e. the Establishments) have always felt contempt for the rest of the population – they resent it when the masses disagree with them and question authority. They prefer the masses to be uninformed, misinformed, semi-literate and best of all, submissive. There was a somewhat similar attitude in ancient Rome when the rulers applied the principle of supplying Bread and Circuses to distract the general population from thinking about weightier matters.
The consequence of these attitudes in our own Establishments is that they have come to the point where – especially through the education system and the media – they steer the minds of the population so that genuine Democracy evolves into one kind or another of an Establishment autocracy. Sometimes it happens when elections produce a fascist government – e.g. those of Hitler and Mussolini. Hitler himself was once asked about Public Opinion and his answer was very much like the attitude of the current British Establishment. I’ve lost the actual quote but it went something like this – “The General Public is like a giant worm – it moves in whatever direction you PROD it.”
We see this metamorphosis of Democracy into a form of Autocracy happening, though more insidiously, in Britain, where the Establishment has what I call Political Correctness Disease. The Establishment is constantly trying, through the education system and media, to make that same disease endemic in the general population. Sadly, it seems to be having a good deal of success.
So far I’ve read less than half of Diana West’s book American Betrayal, but everything that I’ve so far read in it confirms that the same insidious metamorphosis of Democracy into Politically Correct Autocracy is also happening in the U.S.A.
Strangest of all is the fact the Politically Correct are entirely blind to or are deliberately ignoring the fact that these phenomena are holding the doors of our modern civilisation wide open to being swamped and to regressing to a state of permanent, crude and brutal medievalism by that most adamantine (but in the long run most patient) of all ideologies which is Islam. But how to explain it? Who are behind and who are doing the most prodding – and why? Perhaps Diana West addresses this in her book’s later pages…..

‘This is what happens when you elect someone because he looks cool standing next to Jay-Z.’
I will enjoy saying that line again and again as this farce goes on and on.
The Republican Party as kaput as the wretched Conservative Party, but can you imagine if the US was sinking like it is now at home and behaving like this abroad and Bush was in power?
And even Bashar Assad has a good line:
‘On CBS, Bashar Assad called the U.S. government “a social-media administration.”’
And this next bit. This is what happens when the Fourth Estate, which is the only job mentioned in the US Constitution, crawls up the administration’s backside.
‘It pains me to have to say that the versatile Vlad makes a much better columnist than I’d be a KGB torturer. His “plea for caution” was an exquisitely masterful parody of liberal bromides far better than most of the Times’ in-house writers can produce these days. He talked up the U.N. and international law, was alarmed by U.S. military intervention, and worried that America was no longer seen as “a model of democracy” but instead as erratic cowboys “cobbling coalitions together under the slogan ‘you’re either with us or against us.’” He warned against chest-thumping about “American exceptionalism,” pointing out that, just like America’s grade-school classrooms, in the international community everyone is exceptional in his own way.
‘All this the average Times reader would find entirely unexceptional. Indeed, it’s the sort of thing a young Senator Obama would have been writing himself a mere five years ago. Putin even appropriated the 2008 Obama’s core platitude: “We must work together to keep this hope alive.”’
The only excuse for siging up to these ‘liberal bromides’, as Steyn calls them is because you are a wilful liar.
A wilful liar of a journalist.
A wilful liar of a voter.
These politically correct platitudes are just trash. Trash and lies.
And to see them hoist on their own petard of rhetoric by a Putin underling staff writer.
The destruction of the West has come from within, not without.
Now, as Steyn points out, they just laugh at us and how we get university students – the ‘intellectual’ class – to learn such ‘heal the world’ drivel by heart.
Herbert Thornton 19:23 – Absolute ace post! It sums up the whole condition eloquently and historically correctly.
Islamic immigrants, especially to a small, historically cohesive country like Britain, should be hosed out and devil take the hindmost. Countries newly settled, or newly created, within the last century, could proceed along their own paths, perhaps preferring to align themselves with their Western colonisers, as I suspect India, Canada Oz and the Kiwis would.
The cesspit of the UN serves no purpose except to give voice to countries which could never have earned a hearing on the world stage through their own merit. It should be dismantled. No one, except those who lost their jobs by its closure, would notice. It serves no purpose. (Keep the Chinese on side though. We are going to need all the high IQs we can muster.)

Almost a Quarter of Men Admit to Being Rapists Across Parts of Asia, UN Report Finds
This story has been run across the mainstream media in a very low key way.
This site here in the USA picked it up off the UK’s Daily Mail:
http://www.amren.com/news/2013/09/almost-a-quarter-of-men-admit-to-being-rapists-across-parts-of-asia-un-report-finds/
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2416613/Almost-quarter-men-admit-rapists-parts-Asia.html
As one of the Mail’s commenters puts it, a quarter was the ones who admitted it.
Who admits to rape?
The West need mass repatriations from the West Coast of the US right up to the border with Turkey.
A clutch of very interesting articles appeared yesterday about the alleged collusion of special branch and MI5 in systematic care home paedophilia.
Do take the time to read – and re-read – the first part of Richard Littlejohn’s column:
“It’s more serious than just turning a blind eye.
“What is being alleged is that senior police and security services officers were involved in a conspiracy to bury serious sex crimes, up to and including murder.”
Exactly.
The same names of social workers, politicians, judges, lawyers and royal family members comes up again and again and again on the web. Same places. Same modus operandi.
And, yes, the allegations stretch up to murder.
Back to Littlejohn:
“When it comes to those who facilitated the crimes of Savile and Smith, the police and the CPS don’t want to know. The pair of them preyed on children in care homes like chocoholics in a sweet shop.
“Someone gave them access, someone allowed them to abuse young people in their charge.
“Off the back of Savile, the police have been kicking down the doors of assorted DJs, comedians and TV weathermen. But there have been no charges brought against those who handed them the keys to hospital wards and special school dormitories.
“Savile was given a free run at Stoke Mandeville and Broadmoor, where he was photographed with the Yorkshire Ripper. Yet no NHS manager or nurse has been called to account.
“Nor has any senior BBC employee, past or present, been arrested, even though many stand accused of being complicit in Savile’s crimes on Corporation premises.
“Why’s that, then? Could it be because once they start lifting those particular stones, there will be no hiding place for people the Establishment would rather stayed hidden?
“We already know that Savile’s drinking buddies in the Old Bill in Manchester and Leeds protected him. Now it’s claimed that the Funny People covered up for Cyril Smith, who was heavily involved in the negotiations to prop up Jim Callaghan’s Labour government with Liberal support.
“Someone must have given the orders, maybe a senior politician still sitting in the House of Lords today.”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2419316/RICHARD-LITTLEJOHN-Who-gave-Cyril-Smith-keys-sweet-shop.html
We all know sleazy and sometimes illegal things go in dressing rooms.
We need to know about those care homes.
“Maybe a senior politician still sitting in the House of Lords today.”
I’ll bet.
Soprano X 20:13 – Hmmmm … Athough the completely pointless UN didn’t name the main offenders, I think we can all guess which “parts of Asia” are called home by all these self-confessed rapists, and I don’t they include Japan, China or India. Probably not Buddhist Thailand, either.
Gove: ‘Absurd’ secrecy left care children at mercy of paedophiles

[END OF TELEGRAPH COMMENTERS]
The sad truth is care homes always been a dodgy set-up. Places like care homes attract the wrong sort of worker. A bit like MI5 attracted Russian sympathisers during the cold war (they are pretty much openly Marxoid now).
But it has got worse in the past 30 years.
The most obvious thing is the secrecy. All family law cases should be able to be reported on in public.
Names stripped out, the facts should all be publishable. Society needs to know how it works.
It needs to know how families work and how they go wrong and it needs to watch the judges and what they get up to.
Nobody should wield that sort of power without accountability. Justice must not just be done. It must be seen to be done.
Otherwise the judge is siding with somebody.
This is what else has got worse. The judges have become politicised and enjoy this culture of Common Purpose secrecy.
You have a perfect blend of Left/Right corruption.
The Left likes the ideological corruption of destroying the family unit (how very Gramscian) and the Right likes the idea of money for nothing off the taxpayer by giving all these care home contracts to private companies with politician mates who will turn a blind eye to abuse because they don’t want to lose the contract.
It’s a bit like the Left/Right marriage over mass immigration. Left and Right have said to each other – you give us that, and we’ll give you that.
And into the middle of this warped mindset walk the opportunists.
If you think it’s good idea that the state should be snatching children in secret and that somebody making a mint out of it, you’re hardly going to be concerned about the obvious flaws in such a system.
I leave the last comment to another Telegraph reader who posted this under Gove’s article:

‘I have had first hand experience of how paedophiles will infiltrate an organisation. If one gets into a position of authority, then he will suppress any non-paedophiles and recruit and promote more of his kind. They will then support each other against any complainants. I suspect they have infiltrated the social services and children’s homes on a large scale. This would explain why Gove meets so much obstruction in his enquiries. He needs the power to dismiss such obstructors arbitrarily and to replace them with outsiders, or he will never get anywhere.’
This is Channel 4’s Dispatches documentary on the ‘security’ services who covered up for Cyril Smith:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/4od#3576904
I am informed that the story also led the Channel 4 News on the night it was broadcast and that the news broadcast featured and interview with John Hemming MP, who has been trying to shine a light in this area for years.
Among other things, Hemming said in that Channel 4 news interview that the UK authorities need to go back to Kincora and to look at the security services.
What he means by that is that Kincora boys’ home in Northern Ireland was the (known) start of this warped chapter in their history.
It spread out to the Channel Islands and mainland from there once the pattern had established itself.
The elites of the UK and foreign diplomats expolited those childrenl and MI5 went in tow, developing a trick of photographing these people and then forevermore using the photos to blackmail the attendees afterwards.
That technique is now used by ‘security’ services the world over.
If that sounds like the ‘security’ services didn’t care about the children, that’s right – they didn’t. Some are alleged to have joined in themselves.
I do hope that Channel 4 News interview makes its way on to YouTube, because Hemming mentioned Kincora and the security services with good reason.
Meanwhile, here is John Hemming on the Alex Jones show:

AWK 23:13 – Yes, what we would term “sexual violence”, like slicing the clitorises off little girls, “marrying” more than one wife (mohammad said they could have “up to three, or more if they can afford it”), marrying little girls, like Aisha who mo’ saw being pushed on a swing by her mother when she was around five, and fancied, etc is normal behaviour in the dingbat world they inhabit.
It is better that the two worlds not try to interact. Mohammadans (they hate that term; they say they don’t “worship” mo, just regard him el primo prophet of allah) should not be living in the West. They should be living among their own, where they would be regarded as normal.

Re: Tin pot little countries – African or otherwise.
I went to an air show earlier this summer and was looking forward to the display by the RAF Red Arrows aerobatic team. I was shocked to discover that only 5 out of nine of their 9 Hawks were capable of producing the red, white and blue vapour trails that is an integral feature of their exciting display. The reason? The equipment used to produce the colourful vapour trails in four of the planes had developed technical faults and they could not afford to repair or replace it !!!
So thanks to Dave, Gordon, Tony et al the UK has sunk to new depths in the “Tin pot” league table. We can no longer afford the money to adequately maintain the team that is supposed showcase the RAF’s and our country’s skills and technical excellence.
The 5p charge on plastic bags looks like a ruse to give more ‘charity’ funding to Common Purposers whose ‘global warming’ taxpayer windfall is fast being found out as a con by the public.

Saving face (because the shame of any individual Chinese person redounds on the entire family) is very, very deeply ingrained in the Chinese psyche.
Please quote your source and I will look into it. But having lived among the Chinese, I simply do not believe this. They’re not open or “soul-searching” like Americans. It being illegal to own guns or ammo, even for self-defence, I think I’ll stockpile Marmite™ Even in their “depleted” state, 500g Marmite jars can KO a burglar – if you get the ballistics right.

Waste of Marmite 🙁
PfM – re fake charities. I believe either Guido Fawkes or the Taxpayer Alliance produced a list of so-called charities that drew more than 50% of their income from government sources. You might start your search with this link

The following are words or phrases that I find cringe-making, infuriating or repellent.

“starving children in Africa” (or Bangladesh, or Haiti, or wherever)
“these people need our help”
“save the planet”

Bet you £5 that when the plastic bag tax comes in the ‘charities’ that benefit will the the ones that lobby government on lefty stuff. The common purpose lot will not pass up this new income stream for their agenda.

How about an Intelligence Corps staffed by idiots? Red Caps, the personnel all ex-convicts? Finally, Minister of Defence, well we have that wanker, Philip Hammond already!

What a weird column from Peter Hitchens!
Feel angry on behalf of Prince Andrew?
No. Not if the rest of us have to live with such thuggish police too.
And Prince Andrew – what a pity the offcer wasn’t trigger happy.
What a saving to the state that would have been.
As it is, we have to subsidise that awful man for the rest of his life.
And Andrew Mitchell!
What Peter Hitchens is driving at is that police people fed those stories to the Press.
Well, yes, but if you had to deal with people as awful as royalty and politicians on a daily basis, I think you’d want the public to know how vile they are.
Amid all the boo-hooing for Andrew Mitchell, I note that the only word in the exchange he disputed was ‘pleb’.
Mitchell admitted losing his temper and swearing in his own off the record briefing to the Press (funny how it’s OK for Mitchell to brief the Press off the record).
http://metro.co.uk/2012/09/23/andrew-mitchell-admits-swearing-during-row-with-police-officers-583129/
So the dispute was over one syllable: pleb.
It strikes me that the inquiry is probably actually all about who leaked the story to the Press, not what was said.
I think it doesn’t help Mitchell if the inquiry is about what was said, because he has admitted via that off the record briefing that he swore and lost his temper and wants everyone to think one manufactured word was thrown in there: pleb.
Why manufacture that one word?
It will be interesting when this (curiously long) inquiry’s findings are made public.
Will the findings tell us who reported the word ‘pleb’, which was the thing that seemed to most irk Mitchell?
Or is that part of the story going to be lost in a smokescreen of: ‘You officers briefed the Press and you’re not supposed to. That’s reserved for us politicians.’
That would be a very neat ending for Mr Mitchell if we never got to the bottom of whether he used the word ‘pleb’ and just got to see the police slammed for speaking to the Press in the first place.
There were all these threats that those police officers were going to be prosecuted.
I can see why they wouldn’t be.
Because if I was a barrister defending one of those police officers. I would have all the newspaper cuttings of Mitchell admitting swearing and admitting losing his temper and when I had Mitchell in the witness box, I would cross-examine the daylights out of him as to why one word, ‘pleb’, was allegedly manufactured when all the rest was true.
Is that why all this has been kicked into touch by the authorities?
The Royal Family COSTS US NOTHING!
It is a lie put about by republicans that they are some sort of drain on us all. The Crown Estates pay £230 million a year to the Treasury and the Civil List is about £8 million. Rather than costing us anything the Royal Family provide a massive income to the Treasury.
Verity, the details of the 20% of Chinese who have admitted to sexual violence is found in the research published in the Lancet. I see no reason to doubt its accuracy.
P from M – Can you give me the date and the link, please?
You may see no reason to doubt its accuracy, but I do. Face is the most important aspect in the Chinese mind (or perhaps running neck-and-neck with money). The Chinese do not confide in strangers. They HR QEII look like a gossip.
I simply do not believe this “research”. Who carried it out, and where? In China itself? I should cocoa!
Verity, it is new research. I see no reason to doubt it. The fact that Chinese did respond surely shows that your personal experience is not the whole story. The survey appears to have conducted scientifically and I can see no reason why the indicated limitations should not be accepted. Chinese researchers were involved in the research in China, and comparable research on the experiences of Chinese women suggested that the levels of sexual violence reported by Chinese males was of the same order as reported by women. The survey was naturally anonymous and so the males were not confiding in strangers. Just reporting their own perpetration of sexual violence.

P from M – I will write to one of my Chinese women friends in Singapore and ask her what she thinks of this. Anyone who has lived among the Chinese will simply not believe these figures. There may indeed, and probably is, violence perpetrated by Chinese men on women but I am astounded by the figure. For one thing, most of them live in families, and even if a Chinese male lost his temper to the point of wanting to commit violence against a woman, his family would hold him back.
The results are there Verity. Anecdotal evidence from you or a friend doesn’t contradict it. This is just sexual violence. Including other violence takes the figure higher. The Chinese were quite happy to kill millions under Mao, I’d not assume they are non-violent.
“The results are there, Verity”. The results are where? How were these “results” gathered?
Mao is a total, not to say desperate, irrelevance. We are talking about individual violence committed by a man against a woman … presumably a wife … or, as we say, “domestic violence”. Not political violence.
Verity, I don’t think Mao managed to kill all those millions himself. Indeed I know he didn’t. It was individual Chinese who perpetrated violence against other Chinese. It is individual Chinese today who admit in high numbers to perpetrating sexual violence against Chinese women.
I assume you have read the paper? It is all described in great detail, and I have already explained much of the process in my own posts.
According to Buckingham Palace, sustaining the royal family costs Britons 53 pence, or about 81 cents, per person, per year. The total came to about 33.3 million pounds (about $51.1 million) for 2012-2013, according to the Palace, up from 32.4 million pounds the previous year.
Olga Khazan Jul 23 2013
It doesn’t cost the British anything to sustain the Royal Family because the revenue from the Crown Estate is £230 million a year. If it costs £200 million a year to keep the Monarchy it would still turn the nation a profit. If anyone is going to complain about the cost of the Monarchy then ALL of the Crown Estate must be returned to Her Majesty and then she would not need a Civil List.
Re the LiBDem’s curtain raiser to the yawnfest that is the party conference season: The LibDems – parasites debating which diseased host to prey on.
How much taxpayers money is spent on supporting all those LibDem MPs and Councillors up and down the country. Now that is a real waste of money.
Frank Sutton 21:04 – “yawnfest” and the Lib Dems. I like it!

“The Royal Family COSTS US NOTHING!
It is a lie put about by republicans…..The Crown Estates pay £230 million a year”
Indeed, Peter, but it the skewed, marxist viewpoint held by those republicans that all property is theft and thus the Crown Estates are, by extension, theirs, that feeds that lie.
Both Littlejohn and Quentin Letts have each waxed fluent on the emetic statement to Parliament by Nigel Evans when he resigned after allegations of his coercive sodomistic behaviour with erstwhile ‘friends’.
Emetic is an understatement; the line I found most cringeworthy was the Churchill quote, “When you are going through hell, keep going!”
Perhaps the more appropriate of Churchill’s famous quotes in his circumstances would have been “Keep buggering on!”
“The Royal Family COSTS US NOTHING!
It is a lie put about by republicans…..The Crown Estates pay £230 million a year”
Whether they are worth what they cost is questionable. The monarch does not and probably never has, provided the constitutional safeguard against the progressive usurpation of the preprogative rights attributed by Dicey.
In consequence we have the worst of both worlds; an ineffectual, but highly privileged monarchy, whose unlimited powers are now exercised by an increasingly totalitarian government.
We are now simply subjects, with fewer and fewer of the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
Frank P
I, for one, am offended that the willowy, self regarding Evens has not buggered off, pending his incarceration and trial.
Noa – On the Monarchy
As a footnote to my posts in support of constitutional monarchy in the United Kingdom as, in principle, the preferred form of of government, I would like just to add a footnote , spurred by the report below, that were any of the royal family guilty of betraying their constitutional duty to the people of Great Britain, I would have no hesitation in having them beheaded outside the windows of the Banqueting House in Whitehall – after a trial in Westminster Hall of course…

The Queen designedly cannot win. We learn that she, and Prince Charles, have intervened many times to moderate or stall bad legislation, and the papers are filled with accusations that she is acting in some sort of underhand manner. If she does nothing, or does something but is unable to stall legislation, then everyone else accuses her of failing to defend our English culture, heritage and tradition.
Perhaps if we filled the streets in angry resistance to the political class Her Majesty would have greater confidence and authority in resisting the socialist state.
But we do not fill the streets. Indeed we don’t do very much at all, and we expect others to do the difficult work for us.
Well, I’m conscious that following our recent passionate (but unrancourous) debate, Malfleur and I had each laid out our respective views, without, of course either of us changing the views of the other in the slightest!
However, these recent posts have pricked my conscience and I will turn to writing my promised post on the subject.
After all, it’s autumn, the evenings are starting to draw in and it will be good warming fun for Wallsters to try to throw this nascent republican on the Windsor bonfire!
