Over the past two thousand years British people have put up with all manner of abuse. But when push comes to shove, and when it is clear that our rulers are no longer governing for the sake of British society and culture, frustration boils over into resistance and rebellion. King John and King Charles are only the most obvious examples of government forced to take account of the governed. For a while our Parliamentary democracy allowed some expression of the vox populi, in defence of the society and culture of the British people. But in our own lifetimes it has become no less a vehicle for narrow personal and party advantage than the worst examples of the medieval monarchy.
If there is one thing that is demanded of those who rule by those who are ruled, it is that they preserve the integrity of their society and its culture. The loutish behaviour of a warrior lord was tolerated because in the end he was expected to risk his own life in defence of the lives of those he governed. But the last British monarch to lead his people into battle was George II, and the last Prime Minister to have any military experience as a career soldier was Winston Churchill, although Macmillan had served with distinction in the First World War, and Callaghan and Heath had seen some service in the Second World War.
Who could imagine David Cameron leading his troops over the top? Or Ed Milliband participating in a Cavalry charge against the followers of a modern Mad Mahdi?
Nevertheless, even if the political leadership of our time will not place themselves in danger for the sake of the nation, perhaps they will still be found protecting the borders and integrity of our British Isles, and so deserving of the personal advancement they enjoy? if only that were so. It might be a bargain worth fulfilling. We make our politicians wealthy and influential, but they protect us and preserve our social and cultural integrity? If only this were so.
On the contrary. The borders are open and migrants are unchecked. Rab Butler had said in 1961…
A sizeable part of the entire population of the earth is at present legally entitled to come and stay in this already densely populated country. It amounts altogether to one-quarter of the population of the globe and at present there are no factors visible which might lead us to expect a reversal or even a modification of the immigration trend.
His expectations have come true with increasing effect. In the 1980’s immigration was only at the rate of about 54,000 a year, and even this was considered unsustainable. But by the 1990’s this had increased to 300,000 a year, and in the last 10 years has been over 500,000 a year. The foreign born population of the UK is now 8,000,000 people, without considering illegal immigrants, and these 8,000,000 immigrants have produced at least 2,000,000 children. Perhaps 15% of the population of the UK is now constituted by recent immigrants and their children. Nor is this spread evenly across the country, despite the best efforts of the Archers to convince us that immigration and multiculturalism has reached the most remote rural settlements. In fact migrant communities tend to cluster together and so for the first time the population of London contains a minority of white British residents. In some boroughs, such as Newham, the white British population is only 16%.
Such levels of immigration have a negative effect on the indigenous British population. This isn’t a matter of race. It wouldn’t matter if all of these 8,000,000 migrants were French. It is, in the first place, a matter of scale. How has a series of recent Governments allowed so many people to immigrate to the UK? At the very least it must be considered a dereliction of the responsibility of the state to protect the national borders.
But our Government is more liable and our condition is more desperate. Many of these millions of migrants are representatives of cultures which are inimicable to our own. A third of all Muslim students at British universities support violence on behalf of Islam. There are thousands of Muslim terror suspects in the UK and all recent Muslim terror attacks in the UK have been perpetrated by British citizens from families which have been given hospitality and refuge.
Gangs of Muslim vigilantes are patrolling British cities and violently abusing British citizens, while other gangs of Muslims are sexually enslaving young girls. It is irrelevant whether these behaviours and attitudes are caused by Islam or despite it. It is a fact however that Muslim communities in the UK are a fertile ground for those who despise the indigenous British culture and wish us harm.
Other migrant cultures have introduced a costly epidemic of genetic disease because of the practice of marrying close relatives over many generations. Still others have brought the barbaric custom of genitally mutilating young girls, something which would surely have resulted in a lengthy prison sentence if any British parents had submitted their daughters to what is euphemistically called “cutting”. There are migrant cultures which do not value women or girls. Those who would support violence against homosexuals, and even wish to impose a penalty of death on those who change their religion.
What has gone wrong when a council plans to install holes in the ground in its public toilets or when another plans to blackout all the windows in its public swimming pool? What is the Government doing when it allows our children to be force fed halal meat and is only concerned when it seems a halal sausage has been contaminated with pork?
The contract between rulers and ruled has broken down. There is no longer even a pretence that when it matters our Government will protect and preserve our society and culture. It governs only for its own benefit as the worst of kings have done. What can we do? Is it time for a popular resistance to belatedly make itself known? Changing one bad ruler for another is no longer enough. Heads must roll, if only metaphorically. But heads must roll and the balance of governors and governed, rulers and ruled, must be re-established.
